Every evening, Valer and Fu Lin left the base at exactly 8:30 p.m.

And every night, they returned at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Their schedule was almost suspiciously consistent.

Ni Mengxue gradually became wary. ’What exactly are those two doing?’

She couldn’t help wondering whether they were secretly planning something against her.

’Are they trying to take revenge?’

Although she had no evidence, their repeated nighttime excursions were enough to make her suspicious.

She decided to keep an eye on them. However, before she could investigate further, someone else approached her.

Ever since awakening his psychic abilities, Fu Sinan had rarely used them openly.

Initially, Ni Mengxue assumed he was still trying to stabilize his newly awakened power.

After all, psychic abilities were notoriously difficult to control, especially during the early stages.

However, even after his powers had stabilized, Fu Sinan continued avoiding demonstrations in front of other residents.

Ni Mengxue found his behavior somewhat unusual but hadn’t questioned him about it.

That day, she was heading toward her room to go to her underground apartment, intending to enjoy a proper meal.

However, before she could reach the dining area, Fu Sinan stopped her. "Miss Ni, let’s have a talk."

His expression was unusually serious.

Ni Mengxue raised an eyebrow. "What’s wrong?"

"Can we talk somewhere private?"

Ni Mengxue suppressed her amusement. "All right."

Once they were alone, Fu Sinan gestured toward a nearby chair. "Please, sit down."

Ni Mengxue almost laughed at his overly formal behavior. Nevertheless, she obediently took a seat.

Fu Sinan sat opposite her. For a moment, he remained silent.

Ni Mengxue waited patiently, and Fu Sinan finally spoke. "I want you to teach me how to control my psychic powers."

"Am I hearing it right? Me? Why?"

Fu Sinan nodded seriously. "Yes."

He looked directly at her.

"Because I believe you understand these superpowers better than anyone else I know."

Ni Mengxue didn’t interrupt him.

Fu Sinan continued, "Over the past two days, I’ve secretly compared my abilities with those of other psychic superhumans. They’re undoubtedly powerful, but there’s something different about my abilities."

His expression became thoughtful.

"My psychic power seems much stronger than theirs. It’s almost as if I possess an upgraded version of the same ability."

Ni Mengxue listened quietly.

Fu Sinan continued, "I don’t think I would have awakened such a superior ability if it weren’t for your stabilisation agent."

He straightened his posture. "That’s why I’m sincerely asking you to teach me."

His voice became earnest. "You must know far more about these powers than you’re letting on."

Ni Mengxue smiled faintly.

In truth, Fu Sinan wasn’t entirely wrong.

She did possess considerable knowledge about superpowers.

In her previous life, several of her family’s descendants had awakened different abilities, and she had learned a great deal from observing their development.

She understood many of the principles behind awakening, controlling, and strengthening supernatural powers.

Teaching Fu Sinan wouldn’t be particularly difficult.

However, she had no intention of providing such valuable guidance without receiving something in return.

She leaned back in her chair. "All right. But what’s in it for me?"

Fu Sinan’s expression remained serious.

Ni Mengxue smiled as she waved her hand dismissively. "And don’t tell me you’re offering your life. I already have a partial claim on it. I’m not interested in owning the rest."

Fu Sinan looked at her for a moment.

"From what I’ve observed, you’re planning to establish your own power within Fair Shallow Land."

Ni Mengxue raised an eyebrow. That’s very observant of him, considering she hadn’t mentioned it in front of others.

He continued, "You want to build an organization that can operate on your behalf and help you manage the base."

His gaze became determined. "If you’re willing to give me this opportunity, I’ll become your right-hand man."

Ni Mengxue’s smile faded slightly as she began listening more seriously.

Fu Sinan continued, "I’ll help you manage everything that you don’t have time to handle personally. I’ll become your most loyal subordinate."

He leaned forward. "Give me one chance, Ni Mengxue. I’ll work hard enough to become someone you can rely on. And one day, I’ll rise to a position where anyone who dares to cross you will regret it."

Ni Mengxue studied him carefully.

She had always considered herself a good judge of character.

And right now, she could see genuine determination burning in Fu Sinan’s eyes.

He wasn’t making an empty promise.

He was someone who desperately wanted an opportunity to prove himself.

As long as he was given the right guidance and sufficient trust, he could become an extremely capable subordinate.

After a moment, Ni Mengxue smiled. "Kid, you’re really something."

Fu Sinan blinked.

She continued, "All right, then. I’ll give you this opportunity."

For a moment, Fu Sinan didn’t react.

He had expected the negotiation to be much more difficult.

In fact, he had already prepared himself to make several additional sacrifices.

He thought Ni Mengxue might demand that he give up his marriage prospects.

Perhaps she would require him to promise never to marry anyone.

Or maybe she would impose even harsher conditions.

He had even considered the possibility that she might demand his organs or require him to surrender his superpower whenever she asked.

After all, powerful people rarely offered valuable opportunities without expecting an equally valuable price.

However, Ni Mengxue hadn’t demanded any of those things.

She had simply accepted his offer to become her right-hand man.

’That’s it?’ Fu Sinan stared at her. ’She’s really agreeing so easily?’

He suddenly felt that Ni Mengxue was almost too generous.

Perhaps she didn’t fully understand how valuable the knowledge she was offering could become.

Or perhaps she simply trusted him more than he had expected.

Either way, he couldn’t help feeling that she was being a little foolish.

However, that thought only strengthened his determination.

’If she’s willing to place this much trust in me, then I can’t disappoint her.’

He slowly lowered his gaze.

’From now on, it’s my responsibility to protect her interests. I’ll make sure she never regrets giving me this opportunity.’
