Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 184: Superpower Category
Ni Mengxue waved her hand dismissively.
"All right, enough of that. Stop acting like you’re some kind of cult member."
Hearing her blunt words, Fu Sinan was speechless.
Nevertheless, he stood up and looked at her expectantly, waiting for his next instructions.
Ni Mengxue didn’t disappoint him. Instead, she spoke calmly.
"Your first and most important task isn’t to use your power continuously. You need to learn how to control it."
Fu Sinan listened attentively.
"Psychic powers are completely different from most other superpowers," Ni Mengxue explained.
"Generally speaking, other abilities can be strengthened through repeated use. By exhausting the energy stored inside your body and allowing it to recover, you gradually increase your capacity."
She raised her hand. A faint layer of frost appeared around her fingertips.
"Even my ice ability follows this principle. That’s one of the reasons I’ve already reached Level Four, despite not spending all my time fighting."
She withdrew her power and continued.
"However, not every superpower develops in the same way. If I were to categorize them, I’d divide them into three major groups."
Fu Sinan immediately straightened his posture.
"The first category is physical enhancement abilities, such as super speed, super strength, and super elasticity. These powers directly affect the user’s body. Some enhance physical attributes, while others alter the body’s structure or flexibility."
She paused.
"People with these abilities generally need physical training and actual combat experience to improve. Fighting zombies is one of the most effective ways to strengthen them."
Fu Sinan nodded.
"The second category consists of elemental abilities, such as ice, water, and fire." Ni Mengxue continued, "These abilities develop through repeated energy consumption and recovery."
"For example, an elemental superhuman can continuously release their power until their reserves are exhausted. As they recover and repeat the process, the amount of energy they can store gradually increases. At the same time, they should practice expanding the range of their abilities."
She looked directly at Fu Sinan. "Then comes the third category. Mind-based abilities. These include telekinesis, telepathy, and psychic powers."
Her expression became serious.
"Unlike physical and elemental abilities, mind-based powers depend heavily on precision. Simply exhausting your energy or fighting zombies won’t necessarily help you develop them properly. What you need is control."
Fu Sinan frowned thoughtfully. "Control?"
Ni Mengxue nodded. "Exactly. You need to learn how to manipulate objects of different weights using your psychic energy."
She gestured toward the nearby table.
"For example, you should eventually be capable of creating invisible psychic hands that can lift something as light as a matchstick. At the same time, those same psychic hands should be powerful enough to lift an object weighing ten thousand kilograms."
Fu Sinan’s eyes widened slightly. "Ten thousand kilograms?"
"That’s right." Ni Mengxue smiled. "However, being able to lift something heavy doesn’t necessarily mean you have good control. True mastery means being able to manipulate both heavy and delicate objects without losing precision."
Fu Sinan considered her words for a moment. Then he asked, "So what’s my first task?"
Ni Mengxue picked up a matchstick and placed it on the floor. "Your first task is very simple."
She pointed toward it. "Lift this matchstick just above the ground."
Fu Sinan blinked. "That’s it?"
"That’s it." Ni Mengxue nodded. "However, there’s one condition."
She smiled faintly. "The matchstick must remain just above the floor. It shouldn’t rise to your waist, your shoulders, or the ceiling. It must hover at a very small, fixed distance from the ground without touching it. Even if it’s only for a moment, you need to maintain that position."
Fu Sinan stared at the matchstick. He couldn’t understand why she was assigning him such a ridiculously easy task.
’Isn’t she underestimating me?’
He had already awakened a powerful psychic ability. Surely lifting a tiny matchstick wouldn’t be difficult.
"I can do that right now," he declared confidently.
Ni Mengxue raised an eyebrow. Seeing his expression, she immediately understood what he was thinking.
However, she didn’t say anything.
Instead, she sat down on the sofa and watched him with an amused smile.
His confidence reminded her of her own experience when she had first awakened her elemental ability.
Back then, her instructor had asked her to completely exhaust the elemental energy stored inside her body.
Ni Mengxue had confidently declared that she could accomplish the task within an hour.
Unfortunately, reality had been quite different. It had taken her an entire week.
Her instructors had been extremely impressed.
They had praised her as a genius, explaining that ordinary superhumans usually required approximately six months to accomplish the same feat.
However, Ni Mengxue had still felt embarrassed. ’So what if ordinary people need six months?’
She remembered thinking. ’I said I’d finish it in an hour!’
From her perspective, she had already lost face. Recalling that experience, she couldn’t help smiling.
Just then, Fu Sinan spoke. "Look."
He raised his hand, and a faint pinkish-white energy began gathering around his fingers.
Although the psychic energy was nearly invisible, its subtle glow made the surrounding air appear slightly distorted.
The energy slowly extended toward the matchstick lying on the floor. A moment later, the matchstick began floating.
Fu Sinan’s expression brightened.
However, the matchstick didn’t stop just above the ground. Instead, it rose rapidly until it was hovering at approximately half his height.
It also kept swaying from side to side.
Fu Sinan frowned and tried to lower it.
Unfortunately, the moment he reduced the force of his psychic energy, the matchstick dropped straight onto the floor.
For a moment, the room fell silent. Fu Sinan stared at the matchstick.
Ni Mengxue clapped her hands and smiled. "Keep practicing."
With that, she stood up and walked out of the room.
She had originally planned to go downstairs and enjoy a meal, but since Fu Sinan had approached her for training, she decided to let put her plan on hold.
Fu Sinan didn’t chase after her.
He simply looked at the matchstick on the floor before raising his hand again.
This time, his expression was much more serious.

Meanwhile, Ni Mengxue began inspecting the development of Fair Shallow Land.
