Celestial Night Emperor
Chapter 344: What Level Are You?
A jolt shot through the Iron Tower Guard’s wrist, numbing his entire arm. He staggered back in shock.
Qin Tianxuan glanced at the orderly, then at the others. “I hear the people in this First Sanatorium are all either rich or powerful? All of you here look like quite the big shots. A pity you’re all just sycophantic trash, not even as decent as this orderly here!”
And just like that, he had insulted the entire room.
Some people in the crowd lowered their heads in shame, while others turned and slipped away. Most, however, just snickered, their faces filled with disdain.
‘After all, siding with Elder Jin can’t be wrong. As for that little girl and her family, it’s just their bad luck!’
Everyone thought the same thing.
It wasn’t their problem, so they looked the other way, choosing to follow the crowd and suck up to the powerful.
Besides, standing against the Jin Family was just one man!
‘What could one person possibly do? Take on everyone here? That’s impossible!’
Qin Tianxuan smiled. “Excellent. Today, I’m going to do just that: wipe the floor with all of you!”
He extended a finger, pointing at them one by one. “Everyone—and I mean *everyone*—is going to stay right where they are. We’re going to sort this out, piece by piece.”
The crowd was stunned for a moment, then erupted into laughter.
Old Man Jin sneered.
The fat man and the woman scoffed. “So he’s just a psycho!”
The secretary beside Vice Director Jin even quipped, “This is a sanatorium, not a mental hospital! If you’re looking for the psychiatric ward, it’s out the door and to the left!”
Qin Tianxuan’s gaze locked onto him. “You’re quite the loudmouth. We’ll start with you, then.”
‘Start what?’
Vice Director Jin’s secretary adjusted his glasses, fanning himself with the files in his hand. “I can’t even be bothered with a clown like you. Come on, then! What are you going to do?”
The laughter in the room grew louder.
The fat man was growing impatient. “Seize him! Drag him over here to apologize to my son! And he needs to kowtow to the old master, too! The old master finally found a quiet place to recuperate, only to be disturbed by trash like you!”
The Iron Tower Guard and his men moved forward again.
Qin Tianxuan took a single step forward and gently raised his hand.
Behind him, in the courtyard, the Night Emperor’s Guard were about to burst from holding back.
If not for their master’s orders, they would have charged in and dealt with this pack of scoundrels long ago.
Now, they finally had Qin Tianxuan’s signal.
The newly formed Personal Guard moved as one!
They threw off their disguised outer jackets, revealing the military uniforms beneath!
The Personal Guard Captain roared, “Sir, your subordinates await your command!”
His voice stunned the entire room into silence.
The Night Emperor’s Guard, clad in black battle uniforms with swords at their waists and epaulets gleaming on their shoulders!
The laughing crowd was plunged into a deathly silence.
A tremor went through Old Man Jin, and he shot to his feet.
His heart pounded like a drum as he frantically sized up the guards facing him.
‘They look like they’re from the Battle Department!’
‘This is bad. I just don’t know their rank or status.’
‘If they’re below the rank of Captain, I might be able to handle this.’
‘But if they’re a Captain or higher, I’m finished.’
But right now, Old Man Jin was more afraid of something else besides their rank.
‘Please don’t let them be from the Northern Domain!’ the old man screamed internally. ‘Please, not the Northern Domain!’
The fat man and the woman walked over, staring at the guards like idiots. “Tch, you think you’re hot stuff just because you’re wearing some shabby uniforms? Spit it out, what’s your rank? Our old master was a former Governor! In the Battle Department, that’s at least equivalent to a Captain!”
Captain…
The Personal Guard Captain was so exasperated he laughed. His sword flashed from its sheath, and his epaulets glinted again. “Take a good look! Tell me what rank I am!”
The unique military dagger, the insignia of the Northern Domain!
Old Man Jin trembled again.
The fat man and the woman were still blinking cluelessly. “So what rank is it? Just tell us!”
The Personal Guard Captain’s face turned livid.
‘So, the Northern Domain Battle Department has been gone so long that these people don’t even recognize us anymore?’
This Personal Guard Captain, who had followed Qin Tianxuan for years and achieved illustrious military honors, stepped forward coldly, his military dagger flashing. “Northern Domain Guard, present the banner!”
Present the banner!
SHIIING! The guards on site drew their daggers in perfect unison.
Gleaming blades, an aura as imposing as a mountain.
Everyone present immediately felt a true, blood-soaked aura, one that could only come from the battlefield.
From the rear, the troops of the Martial Venerable Hall appeared.
They had all come with Wutian to participate in a drill and were already poised to act.
Now, sixteen squads—three hundred battle-hardened warriors—converged from all directions.
A war banner rose, unfurling in the wind!
It was the banner of the Northern Domain Battle Department—the one that led the charge into enemy lines!
The Personal Guard Captain stood beneath the banner and announced coldly, “The First Personal Guard, under the command of the Northern Domain Martial Venerable Hall, is present!”
Wutian stepped out from the crowd, his eyes like lightning. “I am Wutian: Northern Domain Grand Commander, Chief of the Martial Venerable Hall, Elder of the Battle Department, and Grand General personally appointed by the Imperial Capital!”
Every word, every title, struck them like the beat of a war drum.
Everyone buckled.
Old Man Jin’s legs trembled, and with a stagger, he fell to his knees.
The fat man was scared stiff. His wife was more worldly, but even she was trembling now.
The Personal Guard Captain quickly reported the entire incident to Wutian.
Wutian turned, a ferocious look in his eyes. “A former Governor? The Jin Family? Step forward. You asked about my rank, and I’ve told you. But do you have any idea what *his* rank is!”
He was talking about Qin Tianxuan, who had remained silent all this time.
“No, no, I don’t want to know! I don’t want to know…” Old Man Jin knew better than anyone, but he was so terrified that he clutched his head, covered his ears, and squeezed his eyes shut.
He wanted to pretend this was all just a dream.
Unfortunately, Wutian’s words shattered his fantasy. “This man… is the Northern Domain Night Emperor!”
Qin Tianxuan raised a hand to dismiss Wutian, then spoke calmly, “I’m retired, too. I’m no longer the commander of the Northern Domain. Governor Jin, we’re both retired men. Do you still want to compare ranks with me?”
Governor Jin was already prostrated on the floor. Playing dead wasn’t going to work now.
The Personal Guard Captain went up and kicked the old bastard back to his feet.
Qin Tianxuan paid him no mind, his gaze falling on someone else in the crowd.
It was the cocky secretary from before.
“Get over here!”
After those three words, the secretary was dragged forward, his face ashen.
Qin Tianxuan looked at him. “Like I said. We start with you.”
AH!
The secretary, who had been borrowing his boss’s authority, screamed and pissed his pants.
Qin Tianxuan said coldly, “You told me to go to a mental hospital? I think *you’re* the one who’s a bit unstable.”
The trembling idiot looked at the woman. “Director, sa-save me…”
SMACK! The woman slapped him squarely across the face.
“Who told you to be rude to Lord Night Emperor? I never instructed you to do that! Don’t call me Director, I have no subordinate like you! As of now, you’re fired!”
Vice Director Jin’s back was soaked with sweat as she relentlessly screamed at her secretary.
Qin Tianxuan frowned and gestured. Wutian stepped forward and sent the woman flying to the side with a single slap.
The secretary panicked, slapping his own face repeatedly. “I’m an idiot! I’m the psycho! There’s something wrong with my head! Please, spare me, sir!”
Qin Tianxuan chuckled. “Unfortunately, this is a sanatorium, not a mental hospital. If you’re looking for the psychiatric ward, it’s out the door and to the left.”
The secretary scrambled to his feet and bolted out the door like a shot.
“Sir, how should we dispose of this trash?”
Qin Tianxuan scoffed. “He’s just an ass-kissing idiot. Scaring him is enough. Forget about him.”
After speaking, he scanned the rest of the crowd. “As for the rest of you… we need to have a nice, long chat. We’ll take it one by one.”
