Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 345: I Was Wrong

One by one!

Those words sent a shiver through all the sycophants present.

Even the group that had tried to sneak away was forcibly herded back.

Qin Tianxuan scanned the crowd again, his gaze landing on the Iron Tower Guard.

This guy had been even more arrogant than his master just moments ago.

“You, come forward!”

Still just three words.

The Iron Tower Guard stepped forward, his brawny frame trembling like a frightened cat.

“Weren’t you acting so tough just now? What’s wrong? Scared already?”

Qin Tianxuan chuckled dryly. “You’re a Martial Artist, too. I’ll give you a chance. Fight one of my subordinates. If you win, you can leave. Pick anyone you want. Don’t say I never gave you an opportunity!”

The Iron Tower Guard’s heart leaped. ‘A fight? I’m not afraid of a damn fight.’

His eyes flashed as he stared at the Night Emperor’s Guard across from him.

Just then, Lingsu emerged from the courtyard, looking youthful, radiant, and incomparably beautiful.

“Sir, I’ve poured you a pot of tea. Have a sip and soothe your throat.”

‘As her commander’s aide, Lingsu naturally wanted to be by Qin Tianxuan’s side at every moment.’

Across from them, the Iron Tower Guard’s eyes lit up. He pointed shamelessly at Lingsu. “Her! She’s one of your people, right? I choose to fight her!”

BOO!

The entire Night Emperor’s Guard erupted in boos.

The burly guard said brazenly, “Your boss said it himself! I can pick anyone I want!”

Lingsu said calmly, “Sir, may I?”

Qin Tianxuan frowned. “Don’t kill him.”

‘Don’t kill him?’

‘What did that mean?’

Everyone was stunned. Who was supposed to be killing whom?

A delicate young woman, so beautiful she looked like she might shatter at the slightest touch?

Wutian suddenly walked over as well. “Lingsu, when you make your move… try to go easy on him!”

No one had ever seen Lingsu of the Celestial Medicine Hall truly fight, but Wutian and the others knew her all too well.

Her moniker, the “Celestial She-Devil of the Northern Domain,” was well-earned.

Lingsu smiled, pressing her lips together. “I know.”

Her smile was like a hundred flowers blooming at once, and the Iron Tower Guard’s knees went weak. “Don’t be scared, little miss. We’ll just have a friendly spar. I won’t hurt you.”

Lingsu just said, “Oh,” and walked into the center of the clearing. Then she lifted a high-heeled foot and gave a light stomp.

With a sharp CRACK, three deep fissures spiderwebbed across the hard bluestone ground.

The Iron Tower Guard was utterly stupefied.

‘Is… is this real?’

A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.

Lingsu clapped her hands together lightly. “Oops, sorry. It’s been a while since I’ve had a real fight. Just wanted to test my strength.”

Holy hell!

The Iron Tower Guard dropped to his knees with a THUD. “Ma’am! I’m no match for you! I give up! I give up!”

Lingsu frowned and, with a sudden palm strike from a distance, sent a wave of force hurtling toward him. “Coward!”

BOOM!

The Iron Tower Guard was launched into the air. Amid his screams, he crashed into the Jin Family security guards behind him, knocking them all down like bowling pins.

Her power was terrifying. The men lay sprawled on the ground, unable to even get back to their feet.

Qin Tianxuan stepped forward. This time, his eyes fell upon the woman.

The vice director of the sanatorium—the old woman who threw her weight around and bullied others.

The woman trembled. “I… I’m just a businesswoman. This was my son’s fault, I apologize! I’ll get you the new toy right away. Please, don’t make things difficult for a humble woman like me, alright?”

She viciously yanked the toy from the little brat’s hands.

The little brat wailed and threw a tantrum, clinging to the toy and refusing to let go, scuffing his feet on the ground.

Covered in sweat, the woman desperately kicked at her son. “Let go! Let go of it right now!”

The fat man rushed over and slapped the child three times across the face.

Beaten into submission, the little brat finally let go. He ran, wailing, toward his grandfather.

Old Man Jin backhanded the child, sending him sprawling to the side. The boy couldn’t take it anymore and began rolling on the ground, bawling his eyes out.

Wiping sweat from her brow, the woman presented the toy. Qin Tianxuan remained silent as Wang Hou appeared behind him.

GASP!

The woman nearly fainted. “Marquis… you…”

“The God of Wealth Hall has always served the Night Emperor,” Wang Hou said casually. “By the way, didn’t I acquire this place? Then why did I hear someone claim this sanatorium belongs to their family? Was that you, Vice Director Jin?”

With a cry of despair, the woman collapsed.

“Since you’re a woman, I won’t lay a hand on you. Pack your things and get the hell out of this sanatorium!” Wang Hou grinned maliciously. “And take all your people with you!”

All her people. The entire management team of the sanatorium, from top to bottom, was fired on the spot.

As Wang Hou dealt with Vice Director Jin, the fat man’s phone began ringing off the hook.

“Boss, the company’s finished! It’s been shut down! And that secret shipment we sent to the sanatorium—they found it!”

The fat man’s mind went blank.

Across from him, Wang Hou sneered. “Smuggling illegal drugs into a sanatorium, cooking the books, and marking up the price of supplies tenfold… what do you call that? Hmm? Don’t bother leaving. The Police Department will be here any second. You can go with them!”

With a THUD, before the fat man could pass out, the local police chief who was present fainted first.

He had just seen the chief of the Shangdu Police Department himself appear right in front of him.

There wasn’t much more to be said. All the corrupt officers from the local station were taken away on the spot. The fate that awaited them was the price for years of collusion with the Jin Family.

“Everyone here—take down their names. I don’t care what their rank is or what company they run. Every single one of them needs to explain why they stood by in cold indifference, playing deaf and mute!” Qin Tianxuan’s words echoed in their ears, each one a hammer blow.

The crowd of sycophants was on the verge of tears.

‘So much regret!’

They were so full of regret they wanted to throw themselves off a building.

But who could they blame?

These so-called elites, always so impeccably dressed, had proven to have less character than a single elderly orderly in their moment of truth.

Qin Tianxuan then pointed to the orderly. “He will be the new vice director of this sanatorium. I’m appointing him personally!”

The orderly who had spoken up for what was right was speechless for a long time.

He could never have imagined that a single moment of righteous impulse would completely change his life.

With the situation handled, Qin Tianxuan finally walked over to Old Man Jin.

Old Man Jin was trembling. “I was wrong… I was wrong…”

Those were the only three words he could manage.

Qin Tianxuan looked down at him. “How could you be wrong? The former Governor, the patriarch of the Jin Family… you were so majestic just moments ago.”

Terrified, Old Man Jin wrung his hands and began to kowtow repeatedly.

“Stop. You’re too old for me to accept that,” Qin Tianxuan said. “By the way, you’re the one who smashed my laptop, aren’t you? And threw away my flash drive?”

The calmer Qin Tianxuan’s voice became, the more terrified Old Man Jin grew.

He suddenly dropped to the ground and desperately began gathering the shattered pieces of the laptop, his hands trembling as he tried to fit them back together.

“I’m asking you a question. Did you smash this?”

Trembling, Elder Jin nodded. “Yes… it was me…”

SLAP! Qin Tianxuan struck him across the face. “Then hurry up and put it back together!”

“Yes, yes…” Old Man Jin was beyond tears.

SLAP! He was struck again.

“And?” Qin Tianxuan sneered.

“The… the flash drive… I… I threw it away. I’ll get it back for you, I swear!”

Qin Tianxuan clapped his hands. “That’s more like it. You live at the sanatorium, don’t you? That means you have plenty of time. I want you to piece that laptop back together, bit by bit. Not a single component missing. And you will retrieve that flash drive for me. It had better still be usable. That was my personal property!”

Old Man Jin finally broke down and cried.
