Chapter 2681 - 2699: It’s a Dream

  • Next Chapter

That evening, Jane Sampson did not sleep well.

In her dream, Jane suddenly felt the ground shake, and she struggled, using all her strength, to barely open her eyes.

To her surprise, she found herself back to the night when she was trapped under the ruins after the earthquake.

The pain on her hand felt so real, and the blood dripping from James Black onto her face was still so warm, so salty.

"It hurts... James, it hurts..."

Jane struggled in agony, trying to pull out her hand to touch James’s face, "James, don’t die, you have to be okay, you must be okay."

"Jane, wake up."

James was startled awake by Jane calling his name and saying it hurts.

He turned on the bedhead lamp, and when he turned his head, he saw Jane in her sleep, her eyebrows tightly furrowed and her face full of tears.

Her lips were trembling slightly, as if she was saying something.

James leaned closer and heard her speaking.

"James, it hurts."

He also heard her say, "James, don’t die, you have to be okay, you must be okay."

James knew what she had been through in those ruins, so he understood how fearful she must have been, going back to that night in her dream.

"Jane, wake up, don’t be afraid, you’re dreaming." James hurriedly shook Jane’s shoulder, trying to wake her.

James too had those midnight dreams, seeing the desolation of that night, and how helpless and panicked she was under the ruins.

"Jane, wake up, wake up quickly."

James lifted his hand to gently wipe the tears from her face, softly calling her name in her ear.

It was an unknown length of time before Jane slowly opened her eyes, looking so tearful at him, as if unable to distinguish dream from reality.

"Don’t be afraid, you were just dreaming, everything is fine, we are at the Black Residence, don’t you remember?" James gently comforted Jane in his arms, "We’re both fine, don’t be scared."

Jane sobbed, "Was I really dreaming just now?"

Jane still thought she had returned to that night, the dream was too real.

"I haven’t had this dream for a long, long time." Jane sat up and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes, "I thought when I woke up, I had suddenly gone back to that night."

Jane found a comfortable position to lean in James’s arms.

Ever since her rebirth, except at first, in the first few days, she would often dream of that night.

So much time had passed, and Jane hadn’t dreamed of it for a long, long time.

"James." Jane suddenly tugged on James’s sleeve and then said, "When I was dreaming just now, I seemed to see a desk calendar by my side, showing a strange date."

"How strange?" James gently ran his hand through Jane’s hair.

Jane was silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking, "It was this year, three days later."

Jane remembered that there indeed was a desk calendar on the tabletop at that home stay at that time, but during the earthquake, she didn’t notice where the calendar fell in the corner.

The house had collapsed, and it was dark all around, so she shouldn’t have been able to see anything.

But in her dream just now, she happened to see that desk calendar right by her side, she happened to see the date it displayed.

It was three days later in this year.

Jane, after thinking about it, couldn’t understand it at all.
