CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 2762: Reluctant to Part with Anything
After finishing the video, Jane Sampson sent a message to Oscar Wilson.
James Black’s wife still had the right to order dishes.
After Jane Sampson finished organizing her clothes upstairs, she went downstairs and found Brooke Black had come back earlier than expected. As she went downstairs, Brooke Black was sitting with Elder Black in the living room, brewing tea and chatting.
“Auntie,” Jane Sampson sat down next to Brooke Black, “why are you back so early today?”
“Occasionally, I need to slack off a bit. Your uncle’s at the company, and he’ll handle anything that comes up,” Brooke Black replied, not shirking from laziness for the first time.
Now, with age, Brooke Black’s nature had become a lot more stable.
Back when Brooke Black first entered marriage, matters relating to the company relied on her husband’s help. At her wildest, she would run off to a beauty salon right in the middle of the workday due to a pimple on her forehead, or she’d dash off for afternoon tea with friends after notifying her husband.
However, at that time, Jane Sampson was still young and naturally didn’t remember Brooke Black doing such things.
Brooke Black was discussing donations with Elder Black, and as the seniors spoke about serious matters, Jane Sampson listened intently, her own thoughts stirring.
Brooke Black brought up the Black Clan’s plan to donate to a disaster area, which made Jane Sampson think of her JSY and studio. Perhaps she could contribute her own efforts, within her ability range, to do something to help others.
While Brooke Black was talking to Elder Black, Jane Sampson held a cup of hot boiled water and listened attentively. When Brooke Black and Elder Black finished talking, she turned her head and found Jane Sampson listening with great interest, and laughed.
“Since you’re listening, let me tell you something. There’s a charity auction event tomorrow afternoon. Would you like to come with me? The proceeds from tomorrow’s afternoon auction will all be donated to the seismic zone.” Brooke Black patted Jane Sampson’s head, “Do you have anything you want to send to the auction? Or you could bid for something at the scene, it’s all for charity.”
Jane Sampson nodded eagerly and then said, “I’ll go upstairs to have a look later.”
“No rush, you can arrange for the driver to send it over before 10 a.m. tomorrow. If you’re not lazy, you can join me and your uncle during tomorrow afternoon.” Brooke Black said, “Consider it a small escape.”
“Sure,” Jane Sampson agreed.
Tied down by base matters, that night James Black returned home a bit late, the clock’s hands already pointing to the number ten.
Jane Sampson, having washed up and wearing her little cat pajamas, stood in her cloakroom, her hand brushing piece by piece over her jewelry cabinet, muttering to herself.
“This was a gift from grandpa and grandma when I was seventeen, can’t bear to part with it. This was my grandfather’s gift for my eighteenth coming-of-age. This was a birthday gift from my aunt. This was the first piece of jewelry James Black gave me. This was the second piece of jewelry from James Black. This was a gift my uncle-in-law bid from abroad during his business trip…”
James Black leaned against the doorway of the cloakroom, his corner of the mouth unable to hide a smile.
Listening to Jane Sampson’s muttering, he gently touched these items with his fingertips.
James Black smiled and asked, “Since you can’t bear to part with any, then don’t take from here.”
Jane Sampson was quite sentimental and also had a hobby of collecting gifts.
