"Maybe."

Makima was a remarkably fast learner and had long since figured out what "Darling" really meant.

Even so, she was still perfectly happy to use it.

"Looks like you really like that guy."

Fami sounded almost contemplative.

"Like him...?" Makima considered it briefly. "Either way, he’s family. I like this feeling."

She showed no embarrassment whatsoever as she said it outright.

Fami asked, "Aren’t we family too?"

"You already know the answer to that yourself. There’s no point asking a question you already know the answer to."

Meanwhile, Kotone Asaba had no way to fight the Death Devil, so all he could do was keep talking.

"Those Devils should all be your subordinates, right? You’re really just going to stand there and let the Falling Devil slaughter them?"

Kotone glanced toward the Falling Devil, who was massacring Devils in the distance, before turning back to the Death Devil.

His real goal was to divert her attention and see whether he could seize an opportunity to attack.

"It doesn’t matter. Within my Domain of Death, none of this means anything. They can be reborn endlessly."

The Death Devil was completely unconcerned and showed no trace of impatience, as though everything remained firmly under her control.

"It will slow my progress considerably, but they are my adorable little sisters. As the eldest, naturally I should indulge them."

At that moment, Kotone could actually detect a trace of doting affection in the Death Devil’s eyes.

Was she seriously not pretending?

Weren’t the Four Horsewomen supposed to have the most superficial sisterly bond imaginable?

Although the sight planted a seed of doubt in his mind, Kotone still figured she was probably putting on an act. He just couldn’t understand what reason the Death Devil would have to fake it.

Regardless, his attempt to distract her had failed, so he had no choice but to look for another method.

But just then, the situation suddenly changed.

"That guy is my target! Stay out of this!"

A familiar voice abruptly rang out.

Asa Mitaka... or more precisely, Yoru.

Kotone immediately turned his head and, sure enough, saw Asa Mitaka with the War Devil currently in control of her body.

What was she doing here?

She should have been inside a shelter right now.

"War? Did you just say Chainsaw Man?"

Judging from the confusion in Death’s voice, she apparently had no idea that Kotone was "Chainsaw Man."

That actually made sense. If the Death Devil possessed intelligence detailed enough to know even that, it would have been absurd.

However, just as Yoru was about to answer, her body suddenly rose into the air upside down.

Clearly, she had been caught in the Falling Devil’s power.

Yoru’s sudden arrival had prevented the Falling Devil from reacting quickly enough to avoid catching her in the attack.

"What is this?!"

For a moment, Yoru was unable to control her body, while an intensely ominous sense of danger washed over her.

Makima and Fami had already realized that something was wrong. As fellow members of the Four Horsewomen, they could sense the presence of War.

But the Death Devil reacted fastest of all.

Her gaze instantly became sharp and icy.

"Die."

With little more than a glance from Death, the Falling Devil in the distance was instantly struck by a devastating attack.

However, the Falling Devil was a Primal Fear, so she wasn’t something that could be killed so easily. After suffering severe injuries, she immediately reverted to the form of a miniature figurine. Her true body had presumably returned to Hell.

With the Falling Devil effectively gone, Yoru was also released from her influence.

Unfortunately, she was now plummeting freely from high above...
