That same day, Setsuna brought news that the first group of "new humans" living in symbiosis with Devils had emerged. They were the people who had previously died inside the Domain of Death.

"How did it go?" Kotone Asaba immediately asked Setsuna.

"They all succeeded. Not a single failure. But the first batch of ’test subjects’ may not be completely stable. They’ll need time to gradually adjust to the Devils sharing their bodies," Setsuna answered truthfully.

"So there’s still an adjustment period... Bring some of them out first. I want to take a look."

"Sure."

"Wait. Let’s move somewhere more convenient first."

"Somewhere convenient? Then we can just do this."

As soon as she finished speaking, Setsuna opened her Domain of Death.

This time, however, it only covered a small area, and Kotone was the only person she brought inside.

Kotone randomly selected three people from the crowd.

"How do you feel? And what kind of Devils are you sharing your bodies with?"

One of them was a boy still wearing a junior high school uniform. He was at exactly the age when kids tended to go through an embarrassing edgy-fantasy phase.

The second was a girl who was clearly quite shy, her expression and voice both awkward and timid.

The third was a middle-aged office worker in a suit.

"I don’t know anything! I just want to go home and see my wife and daughter..."

He was close to breaking down emotionally, clearly terrified that something might have happened to his family.

"Sir, don’t worry. As long as your wife and daughter aren’t among the people here, they should still be safe," Kotone reassured him.

"Those who arrive too late shall know regret. Tonight shall be a feast of slaughter!"

The next instant, black markings suddenly appeared across his left hand and rapidly spread all the way up to his face.

Then a strange mouth grew out of the black markings on his cheek.

"Kid, you’re making me die of secondhand embarrassment. Pull that cringe again and I’m not cooperating with you."
