Chapter 463: Chapter 461:Canglan!

"STOP!!!" A yell from the back of the carriage made the man pull his hand back as the whip brushed against my face, the wind from the force with which it was thrown blowing my hair back.

I couldn’t help being amused. From this far out, he had been capable of sending that thing flying towards me at blistering speeds; he must be quite strong to have been able to do that.

Crashhhh!!!

The carriage came to a grinding halt before us as it raised a cloud of dust from its violent stop.

"You there," a voice, haughty, entitled, arrogant to the bone, "fair maiden." Of course. Like throwing me into a fucking cultivation world wasn’t enough, I just had to encounter the most brain dead trope of all.

"Would you mind accompanying this young master on his voyage into the city?" The man’s words were addressed to the only female in our group.

Our eyes turned to Nyssara as I could see the gears working behind the eyes of the others.

Malachi, Paku, and Salazar looked confused. Almost like they couldn’t understand what was happening. I didn’t know if it was from the strange location we found ourselves in, or the stupid act of casually addressing a woman like you owned her, the way this young master was doing.

As for Leo, the chicken-cat was merely amused, a sadistic light flashing past his eyes as he watched the carriage in amusement.

"Hmm? No, thank you." Nyssara’s voice had lost all the shy, blushing expression she had back in the tower, her expression a stoic and regal one. The aura of royalty being worn like a second skin.

I couldn’t help but smile. Unfortunately—

"INSOLENT!! You dare deny my young master’s request?" The carriage driver yelled in outrage.

"Hehehe.. Big Brother, that man is soooo tiny!!!" Lucien exclaimed in glee from atop my head.

"Now, now, little guy. The man isn’t tiny; your big brother is just a freak." Leo decided to play explainer, but—

"Eyyyy??? But, Brother Cat, even YOU would be taller than that tiny man." The kid merely tilted his head cutely in curiosity.

"Somehow, I don’t think I like the way you phrased that. What do you mean by even I would be taller than the man?" Leo asked.

"Well, other than Brother Chipmunk, Brother Cat is the shortest of the group, but even Brother Cat is taller than that man, so the man is tiny. Humm Humm.."

It was honestly difficult to argue with the kid’s logic.

"Pfft..." Malachi wasn’t even trying to hide his laugh.

"Oi!! Little man, who are you calling a chipmunk!?" Paku yelled.

"Eyyy? But, isn’t Brother Chipmunk a chipmunk? Brother chipmunk just has horns, otherwise he’s still a chipmunk. Righ? Big Brother, isn’t Brother Chipmunk a chipmunk?"

"Ignore the furball; he is indeed a chipmunk, he’s just being modest."

"Yay!! Lucien was right. Heheheh!"

"Absolute!!! You bastard!!!"

"Pffft... ahahahahahahaha!!!" Malachi burst out laughing, no longer bothering to suppress his laughter.

"Hey.. isn’t that Shin Long’s carriage? Young Master Shin from the Shin royal family in the east?"

"He came for the tests, too? It seems the trials this time around will be quite interesting, with so many powerful figures being interested."

"Hey! Quiet. I heard he’s killed people who talked about him without cause."

"Run away..."

The commotion had drawn the attention of the bystanders, but then, afraid of being whipped or worse, killed, they dispersed like headless flies.

I didn’t understand the context of what was happening, I was just arriving, after all, but I heard "sect," "test," and "young masters." That was enough to paint a picture of what situation I just found myself in.

"You insolent fools dare to ignore me!?" The middle-aged man was already flaring up, the aura of a law integration powerhouse leaking out of him, but—

"Elder Rui, that’s enough." The calm voice of the one called Young Master Shin stopped him from taking any action.

"Fair maiden," the voice continued, ignoring our existence as it addressed Nyssara once more, "I advise you to reconsider your decision. Is it those men around you that are threatening you? Shall I get rid of them?" The young master asked in a threatening voice, and that seemed to have set the monkey off.

"Okay, what the fuck? Is this guy dumb or are my ears faulty?"

Finally!

"Oi! Motherfucker! You just bumped into us, tried to hit on our companion, got rejected like a bitch, then now you say we’re the ones at fault? How does that logic make any sense? Are you stupid?"

Someone finally sees the ridiculousness of the entire situation.

"INSOLENT BEAST! You dare—"

SCHPLAT!

The middle-aged man was turned into a mist of blood from a single slap as Malachi had finally heard enough.

....

Silence reigned for a heartbeat as it seemed the person within the carriage was still trying to process the fact that his coach driver had been turned into paste within a blink, but then—

"YOU DARE!!!!"

A furious shout came from the carriage as the essence of the minor law of fire threatened to engulf the place, but—

BOOOOM!!!

A swift slap from Malachi sent the entire carriage exploding into a rain of splinters and wood.

The Young Master Shin from within was not even allowed the common decency of a third-rate villain showing his face.

"YAYYY!!! Fireworks!!!" Trust Lucien to find the positive in any scenario.

"AHHHHHHH!!!!!"

"They killed the young master!!!"

"Call the city guards!! Call the city guards!!"

We promptly ignored the commotion as we finally tried to get a proper look at wherever we had appeared, and—

"Ohh..." What a view.

Barring the obvious panic going about from our actions, the city was quite the sight.

Towering buildings stretched into the sky, their surfaces lined with intricate tubes and glowing formations that pulsed with Spiritual Qi. Ancient-looking towers stood beside sleek skyscrapers, their roofs curved upward beneath ornate tiles and golden ridges.

Above the streets, the classic sights were everywhere. Men flew past on swords, robes fluttering behind them, while women glided through the air atop elegant spirit beasts. Some flew on massive cranes, others on swans, and a few simply stepped through the sky as if gravity were nothing more than a suggestion.

Yet, unlike the typical cultivation cities I’d read about, this place wasn’t exactly stuck in the past.

Massive billboards covered the sides of buildings, playing advertisements beneath streams of glowing characters. Neon-like lights illuminated the streets, while sleek flying vehicles drifted between the skyscrapers alongside cultivators soaring beneath them.

It was a strange blend of cultivation and modern technology.

Though, with the heavy wuxia aesthetic still dominating everything, the modernization somehow felt like an afterthought.

"Where the hell are we even?" Paku asked.

"I don’t know."

"Sana?"

"How the hell would I know?" The grumpy tower spirit replied in irritation.

"What do you mean, how would you know? Weren’t you the one who sent us here?"

"I said I was sending us to a major planet within this place; I never said I knew which planet. You guys figure that one out by yourselves."

Typical.

"Haa.." I could only sigh and shake my head as I first decided to address the most glaring issue.

Accommodations.

I used my old faithful technique, the one that made sure I had answers at hand whenever I needed them.

Grab!

"Ahhh!!! Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!!"

I pulled a screaming bystander off the street, stunned at how much fear was radiating off of this man.

"Am I really that scary?"

"Nope! Nope! Big Brother is the most friendly-looking person alive!" Lucien’s words were quite reassuring.

"Of course, little man. If you consider an eight-foot walking tattooed monster with an eye that was literally the cosmos itself, capable of lifting grown men off their feet with a casual gesture, a friendly-looking person, then you’d be right. Your big brother is definitely the friendliest-looking guy out there." The sarcasm in Salazar’s voice wasn’t hard to notice, but I wasn’t going to give him any heed.

The little man’s words were the only thing I was going to hold on to.

So that means I wasn’t the faulty one here; it was this bitch that was overreacting.

So, thinking this, I did the most effective thing possible.

PAHHH!

A deafening slap landed on the cheek of the screaming fucker.

"Ahhh!!"

"You keep screaming like that and you won’t have a mouth to scream with again. Are we clear?"

He nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

"Good. Now, where are we?"

"Please... please don’t kill me. I swear I don’t—"

PAHHH!!!

"Ahhhh!!!!"

"Answer me with nonsense one more time and I’ll slap the rest of your teeth out of your mouth. Are we clear?"

He nodded.

"Now, where are we?"

"Answering the young master: This is Spirit Crow City, one of the two Supreme Cities on the World of Canglan, and the location where the next Serene Cloud Sect entrance exams are to be held. Canglan is one of the more prosperous worlds under the High Planar Galaxies founded by Lord Lin Feng of—"

PAHHH!!!

"Ahhhh!! Why!?"

"Did I ask you for a history lesson? I just asked you where we were. Who told you to go off on explaining shit?"

"So.. sorry."

"Now tell me, where is the best place to find some proper accommodation around here?"

"Replying to the young master: The Serendipity Inn is the most prestigious inn within the city; it should suit the young master’s taste quite fine."

"Good. Now, the next question. What type of currency do you guys use here?"

"We use spirit stones as a mode of currency, young master. Mostly low-tier and mid-tier spirit stones since anything higher is a valuable cultivation resource."

"Good... now, how many do you have on you?"

"Ehh!?"

....
