Chapter 499: Chapter 497:“FUCK! NO!”

Martial Spirit World.

Imperial Palace.

"Big Brother Xuan, you can’t go to an official meeting wearing that!" The empress of the world, and by extension, the entire High Planar Galaxies, was currently pouting like a child whose candy had been stolen as she leveled her husband, the emperor, an exhausted look.

"What!? Why!? I think I look awesome!" Lin Xuan exclaimed in disbelief, unable to understand why his wife would think less of his outfit.

"You’re wearing... what the hell even is that?"

"Young Hero Long Chen called it a sweatshirt? He said it should help with my Dao enlightenment should I keep wearing it," the man replied.

The High Planar Galaxies, as developed as they were, with technological advancements one wouldn’t believe a cultivation world could have, and yet the supreme ruler of that same civilization was amazed by a simple sweatshirt.

"Well, your brother is a fraudulent person. You should stop listening to him, and why are you still calling him ’Young Hero Long Chen?’ Didn’t he already admit that wasn’t his real name?"

"Bah! It’s fun playing pretend. Plus, you can’t claim my brother’s teachings are false. His insights into the Dao are unmatched. I mean, you’ve already felt the effects of his teachings, have you not?" The man gave his wife a teasing smile as Su Yin’s face turned beet red.

"Don’t... don’t talk about things like those."

"Bahahahahahahahaha!! My brother’s Dao of Molestation is truly revolutionary! I should make an ancient script about it and distribute it to the rest of the world," the man laughed, spewing out words that made Su Yin’s face turn white.

"What!? No! You can’t do that!"

"Huh? Why not?"

"Well... be.. because your brother’s Dao is sacred. Yes! Sacred. So if you distribute it out and some ill-intentioned individuals abuse it, wouldn’t that be an insult to your brother’s honor?" The woman desperately replied as she tried to dissuade her impressionable husband from following in the footsteps of his new shameless friend.

He was a man more than a thousand years old, and yet he still acted like a child whenever something excited him.

It was exhausting sometimes, but it was also refreshing to know that her big brother hadn’t changed in all these years.

"Hmmm... I guess you’re right." A small, relieved smile graced Su Yin’s beautiful face at that reply, but the man’s next words wiped that expression from her face just as fast as it had appeared. "I’ll just convene with him later today and see if it’ll be a good idea to share his Dao with the rest of my people." Lin Xuan nodded sagely, going back to admiring himself as Su Yin fell into a panic attack.

She could already see how that conversation would end. Her husband was already a problematic person to keep in line with his imperial image, but now, this new brother of his had just made matters infinitely worse.

"Haa... just... forget it." The woman sighed, slumping back into her chair.

There was no helping it. She could only pray for the poor women of the High Planar Galaxies, as a travesty was soon to befall them.

"But, it might not be so bad..." Her cheeks reddened as scenes of the past few days replayed in her mind, her body heating up slowly as not-so-safe thoughts began appearing in her head.

"Curse that bastard for corrupting my husband. Now look what he turned me into."

If Dante were here, he’d be absolutely flabbergasted at the unfair accusations.

She was the one feeling satisfied by her treatment, but he was the one taking all the blame? Where was the justice in that?

Women! Am I right?

"So..." Su Yin’s voice finally broke the comfortable silence that had fallen between the two as she looked at her husband with a complicated gaze, "how is she?" She asked, not bothering to elaborate on who she was talking about, but the change in Lin Xuan’s expression said clearly that he understood who she was referring to.

"Haa... that foolish girl is still unable to see things from my perspective." Lin Xuan sighed, his voice bitter.

"It’s still that bad, even now?"

"The foolish girl stupidly believes that that bastard actually loves her and has her best interest at heart." The emperor’s teeth gritted hard as his emotions began spilling out. "My own little sister, Yin’er, my own little sister is being used as a foolish pawn to get to me, and she doesn’t even know it!"

"These bastards are trying to do exactly what they did back then, but this time using an even more sinister method. I... I feel helpless, Yin’er." The man’s shoulders, which had been raised steady all this while, suddenly slouched as the weight of his reality finally caught up to him.

He wasn’t foolish. Despite his bubbly demeanor around his new brother, the emperor was a man of wisdom and ruthless determination. After all, no man capable of wielding power over such vast realms would be a simple figure.

He was aware—unlike what Dante had thought—the emperor was well aware of the plot going on. He knew his sister had fallen into the hands of Shen Wu Zhen. He knew that the bastard was trying to manipulate his sister into helping him take him, Lin Xuan, down. He knew all this, and yet, he was helpless.

"My parents keep pressuring me to submit before those Calderans untangle themselves from the dilemma they found themselves in. My own sister is a hidden trap within my own home. It feels like I’m suffocating within these four walls, Yin’er, and with each passing moment, I can’t help but feel like I’m slowly losing my grasp on things as I can’t say what I should do from the start. I... just can’t."

The man went silent after those words as his mood turned extremely heavy, yet before he could fall into overthinking, a pair of arms wrapped around his broad torso as Su Yin rested her head on his back.

"It’ll be fine," she whispered.

"How do you know that, Yin’er? How could you possibly know that?"

"Because I know you, Brother Xuan. I’ve seen you overcome impossible odds time and time again. For over a thousand years together, I’ve seen you make the impossible possible, and now here you are, a man standing strong against a force like the Calderans, and still fighting." She walked in front of the man, cupping his cheeks in her hands as she looked deep into his eyes.

"It’ll be fine, my love. I know it will," she added with infectious confidence, as Lin Xuan’s mood visibly improved.

"Haa... what would I do without you, Yin’er?"

"Probably be lost like a headless chicken," she laughed.

"Heh! You might be right about that."

"So... what about the boy?" Su Yin asked, seeing as her husband’s mood had visibly improved.

"He has potential. Terrifying potential, in fact. I dare say he might be capable of surpassing even me in the future," the man analyzed.

"That much?" Su Yin was surprised. She knew just how much of a talent her husband was—a talent not one bit inferior to the first Lin Emperor, Lin Feng—and yet the man claimed that a disciple his sister had picked up had a potential even more terrifying than his?

"Yes, that much. But alas..." Lin Xuan sighed in disappointment. "My foolish sister will probably just hand him over to that Shen bastard." He gritted his teeth once more as his mood threatened to sour even further.

"Easy, Brother Xuan. I’m sure we can work something out."

"Haaa..." Lin Xuan sighed for the nth time today, as he was just about tired of the entire situation concerning his family.

A man of his caliber being undone by familial relationships...

"Heh! What a joke." He laughed in self-deprecation as he looked at his wife.

"I wonder if I should just tell them what I know? What I found out about the first ancestor? Maybe they will understand me better then?" he asked, his voice inquiring.

"My love, you know you can’t."

"Haa.. right. They won’t believe it. After all, I have already drawn the battle lines with those bastards, so anything I say now they will just take as me looking for an excuse to justify my rebellion." The man’s shoulders slouched once again as this time even Su Yin was lost as to how to comfort the man. But just as she was about to try, the emperor suddenly exclaimed in realization,

"Aha! Yes! Why didn’t I think of it before?"

"Think of what?"

"Dante. My newest brother. I’m sure if I told him my dilemma, he’ll help out."

"Him? Isn’t he just a Dao Manifestation powerhouse? What could he possibly do to help?" Su Yin was confused.

Yes, she had witnessed the aura clash her husband had with the man earlier, but she knew her husband was holding back a lot, as all she had felt from Long Chen—or rather, Dante—back then was the aura of a mere Dao Manifestation (Law Manifestation) powerhouse.

"Yin’er, I think you’ve got things mixed up."

"Hmmm?"

"Dante, that young man, he isn’t weak, not by any means of the imagination. I don’t know why he’s hiding his strength, but I can tell you that he is far more terrifying than what you think."

"Surely not, Brother Xuan. Isn’t all he knows how to teach shameless things like molesting women?"

"Hahahaha... my brother is just a man of a free mind. But weak? Not even close."

"Yin’er, do you know what happens whenever the thought of challenging Dante seriously brushes the edges of my mind?"

"What happens, Brother Xuan?"

"My senses, my instincts, my whole being only blares two words in absolute terror and alarm."

"And... what words are those, Brother Xuan?"

"FUCK! NO!"
