Chapter 558: Chapter 556: Grandson! Grandma!

"You know what? I can see it. The resemblance goes deeper than just the face theft," Shaia teased after hearing Leo’s last words.

"Fufufufu... Master, your twin is really working the part," Elira tried to follow in her footsteps, but—

PAA!!

"Ahh~~ Master..." A smack to her butt shut the notion down.

"Oi! Kid, are you really going to slap your woman’s butt in front of your father?" The old man complained.

"What? Jealous that you can’t do it too? Want Mother to rip your head off?"

"This little... fine. Be like that. I’ll deal with you later, but first..." He turned his attention to Leo, who had finally escaped Mother’s embrace.

"Little Leo, did you just say you’ve found out the location of your clan?"

"Haa... yes. We did."

I couldn’t help raising a brow at his words. There had only been one report pertaining to anything involving griffons, and that was—

"The Empyrean Gryphon clan? They’re your family?" I asked, surprised.

"Not my family, Dante. Just an unfortunate clan I spawned into."

"But, didn’t you say you had nothing to do with them before?"

"I said I had nothing to do with them because they were cowardly fools who only know how to be strong when it favors them, but weak when the tables turn. I might have originated from them, but they... they’re not my family."

I went quiet. The topic seemed to be a sore spot for him.

"And where are these Empyrean Gryphons? I believe I want to have a word with them." Father’s face had gone hard, a murderous expression on his features.

"Worry not, Godfather, I believe we’ll soon be heading there, so you can rest assured."

"Alright then, now—"

"Big brother!!" Lucien’s voice finally cut through the chatter as the little man couldn’t hold back anymore.

"Yes?"

His head poked out of my hair as he leveled Mother with a wide-eyed, innocent stare. "Who’s the big sister? New big sister?"

"Ehh? No. Little man, that’s Big Brother’s mother..." I turned, intending to introduce the little man to Mother, only to be startled as I found Mother’s face just inches away from mine.

"Mo... Mom! How did you—"

"Who... who’s this precious little bundle of joy..." Her eyes were literally glowing with a blinding blue radiance as she seemed just a hair’s breadth away from assaulting me and taking the child.

"Haa... of course he got you too." I sighed, accepting my fate of always losing any woman in my life to the little tyrant. "Just... take him—"

I had barely completed my words before the little man was snatched from my hair and trapped within Mother’s suffocatingly loving arms.

"This..." With the way this woman moved whenever it involved something cute or hurting Father for talking shit, you’d be hard-pressed to believe she was merely an SS-rank being.

"Dante... who... whose child is this? You have a child? Am I a grandmother now!?" Her eyes sparkled as she cuddled the child. Lucien, for all his worth, merely laughed up a storm as he enjoyed the pampering.

"Mom, he’s not mine, he’s just—"

"Grandma?" The little man cut me off, his characteristic baby voice and tilted head shooting an arrow of overwhelming cuteness straight through Mother’s heart as I could see the woman folding from overload.

"Ahh... yes, baby, call me grandma..."

"Mother, no, he’s not my—"

"GRANDMA!!!!"

"Oooouuuuuu..... he’s so precious!!!" Mother was one beat away from breaking into a dance, and I was a mere moment away from going insane.

"Mother, wait, he’s not my kid, he’s—"

"YAYYYYY!!!! LUCIEN HAS A GRANDMA!! Hehehehehehe!!! Lucien has a very, very, very BEAUTIFUL GRANDMA!!! YAYYY!!!"

Yup, that sealed the deal alright.

Mother’s head flew off as the woman wrapped the kid in a suffocating hug.

"Haa... welp. There goes any affection I was hoping to receive today." I sighed, dreading my fate.

"Oi! Kid, why’s your son trying to steal my wife’s affection?" Even my father had fallen into confusion. "Whose is it? The kid’s hair is purple, and I don’t see any women with purple hair here. Don’t tell me you have other women I don’t know of?" His face changed as he gave me a disbelieving look.

"Old man, since when did hair color determine anything? Neither you nor Mother have white hair, so what are you saying?"

"Hmm.. that’s true, so who’s the mother? Don’t tell me it’s Clarissa or Ravena, or is it that woman with dual hair colors who hasn’t stopped giving me the death stare this entire time?"

"Hahahaha... it’s none of them, Dad. I’m not ready to get them pregnant yet, but surely it’s going to happen."

"Who... who the hell wants to carry your baby?! Humph!" Sana huffed, turning away with her face beet red.

"Fufufu... Master~~ we can make babies anytime you wish." I wasn’t surprised by Elira one bit.

"My darling... worry not, I’ll be sure to give you the perfect, most beautiful babies," Clarissa cooed as she hugged me from behind, shooting my old man a provocative look.

"Man... I still can’t believe my son actually managed to tame this crazy banshee... I don’t know if I should be worried or proud."

"Regulus, I swear on all that’s violent—"

"Go on, kid, tell me. Who’s the mother? Do you really have other women I’m not aware of?"

"Yes, of course I do," I replied smugly.

"Fuck! This lucky bastard!"

"Mom!!!"

"Shhh... quiet. Fine, just tell me already."

"Haa... like I said, the kid isn’t mine," I pulled Clarissa to the front, pulling her back into my arms, and resting my chin on her head of hair. "He’s the brother to a demoness who’s currently staying with us."

"Ahh... so the horns on his head really are demonic horns. I thought he was some mixed race, but..." Father’s eyes softened as he looked at him.

"To think you could actually care for a demon child this much, enough so that you’ve taken him to be such an important person to you? My son..." He placed his hand on my head, the action looking weird due to the significant height difference, but that didn’t matter, not now, as his next words made something within me shift.

"I am proud of you. Truly proud. Hahahaha... you seem to have finally found something good to hold onto in the race you detest."

"Father..." I opened my eyes, leveling the man with a confused look. "Even now, you still don’t detest that filthy race?"

"Hmm? Of course not. Absalom was a piece of shit, no doubt, but that doesn’t mean they all are. I mean, look at you, raising a demon child and caring for his sister—isn’t that enough proof? If even you, in your infinite hatred, could see some good in them, why should I waste energy hating them? I’d rather use that energy to do something else worthwhile."

"Father..." I could only stare. Father’s outlook on things, even now, was something I couldn’t fully understand.

For someone to be this open-minded...

"Old man, that mentality will definitely keep getting you in trouble."

"That’s what that old, grouchy bastard always said."

"And he was right, wasn’t he?"

"Meh... I’m still alive and kicking, aren’t I?"

I couldn’t even respond to the shameless answer, and the old man just laughed it away.

"Now, onto more important stuff." Father’s expression turned solemn, his eyes sharpening as he tuned out my still-giddy mother, who had somehow roped Elira and Sana into showcasing her new grandson. His gaze scanned the region like a hawk looking for prey, and then he spoke:

"VALEN!! YOU RAT BASTARD!! COME OUT, COME OUT, WHEREVER YOU ARE! I, YOUR DADDY, HAVE FINALLY RETURNED! WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

A/N: The more I write, the more I realize I made these two a bit too much alike. Anyways, Lucien has once again become the main character and everyone else relegated to side pieces, typical. And as always...
