Chapter 270: Chapter 189: Jiang Sifan’s Forgiveness? Delusions of a Manor
「Five minutes earlier.」
At that moment, Jiang Sifan was in his studio going over the accounts, pen in hand, his eyes fixed on the ledger.
But his mind was on other things.
Last night in his dorm, he had seen the photos and vlogs his sister, Jiang Silu, posted.
’Silu must still be out on her trip,’ he thought.
For some reason, Jiang Sifan felt a little uneasy.
Wen Wan was organizing documents nearby, glancing up at him from time to time.
Jiang Sifan had already zoned out several times today, which was rare for him.
"Are you tired?" Wen Wan asked. "Maybe you should head back and rest early today?"
Jiang Sifan shook his head and smiled. "I’m not tired. There are still a few accounts I haven’t finished checking."
Hearing this, Wen Wan decided she would quickly finish her own work so she could go help him.
Just then, Jiang Sifan’s WhatsApp notification chimed.
He picked it up and saw a message from Jiang Silu—a string of photos.
He tapped open the first one and was rather shocked.
It was a huge room. The pale pink, domed ceiling was painted with stars and clouds, and a crystal chandelier hung in the air, refracting glittering shards of light.
A large bed was situated right in the middle.
Next to it were floor-to-ceiling windows.
Jiang Sifan stared at the photo, motionless for a long time.
He swiped down.
The second picture was of a bathroom, larger than their living room at home.
The bathtub was made of white marble, with bath salts and essential oils placed beside it.
The third was a walk-in closet with a full row of wardrobes. Their white doors were trimmed with gold, and unopened skincare products were arranged on the vanity.
Next was a video.
Jiang Silu was holding up her phone, her excited voice coming through the speaker. "Bro! Look, this is the gym! It’s all brand new! This is the basketball court! A regulation one! And a swimming pool! It’s indoors! There’s a badminton court over there too!"
Jiang Sifan watched the video of the enormous gym, with its rows of treadmills and all sorts of equipment whose names he didn’t know.
The basketball court’s floor was polished to a shine, and the hoop was height-adjustable.
The swimming pool was a brilliant blue, with lounge chairs arranged along the side.
His finger continued to swipe down.
The last photo was of a dark wooden door.
The door was open, revealing a completely different room inside.
The main color scheme was dark blue. On the wall hung a framed poster of a basketball star.
Against the wall was a wide bed with dark blue bedding and perfectly squared-off pillows.
There was a desk by the window, with a lamp of simple design on it.
In the corner was a basketball hoop—not a toy one, but a proper one you could actually shoot hoops with.
The floor was covered with sports flooring, and several basketballs were placed to the side.
Another wall was lined with a full row of wardrobes with dark gray doors. Next to them was a display rack holding several pairs of basketball shoes, all of them limited-edition.
Jiang Silu’s text popped up: "Bro, this is your room."
Jiang Sifan first sent three question marks in reply.
Then he stared at the few words Jiang Silu had sent, not moving for a long time.
Noticing his strange expression, Wen Wan carefully asked, "Class President, what’s wrong?"
Jiang Sifan didn’t say anything, just handed her the phone.
Wen Wan took it and scrolled through the photos one by one.
When she got to the picture of the boy’s room, she froze for a moment and looked up at Jiang Sifan.
"This is..." Wen Wan asked.
Jiang Sifan just grunted in response, saying nothing more.
Wen Wan voiced her suspicion. "Uncle Lu prepared this for you?"
Jiang Sifan grunted again.
Wen Wan looked at the photo and sighed in admiration. "This room even has a basketball hoop... It’s so spacious..."
Jiang Sifan remained silent, merely staring blankly at the ledger.
Wen Wan handed the phone back to him, concerned. "Class President... are you okay?"
Jiang Sifan took the phone, glanced at the photo one last time, then turned off the screen, placed it on the desk, and shook his head. "I’m fine."
"Then you’re..." Wen Wan said worriedly.
Jiang Sifan was silent for a moment before answering, "I don’t know how to describe it. It’s just a bit... I can’t really put my finger on it. Forget it. Let’s not think about this. Let’s get back to the accounts."
Wen Wan didn’t press further and went back to organizing her documents.
But after a little while, she spoke up again softly, "Actually, I think this is a good thing."
Jiang Sifan looked up at her, a little confused.
Wen Wan explained in a low voice, "Your sister has wanted a complete family ever since she was little. And now, even though your dad... even though Uncle Lu made mistakes in the past, he’s trying to make up for them now. Look how happy your sister is."
Although Jiang Sifan remained silent after hearing this, he felt that what Wen Wan said made some sense.
"And the fact that Uncle Lu prepared a room for you too shows that he cares about you," Wen Wan continued, seeing she had his attention.
Jiang Sifan immediately retorted, "I don’t need it."
Wen Wan looked at him. She had seen it clearly over the past few days—Jiang Sifan also craved his father’s affection.
It was just that he still hadn’t made peace with himself from over a decade ago.
Wen Wan hesitated, then asked quietly, "Class President, do you really not need it?"
Jiang Sifan froze for a second, not answering her question.
In Wen Wan’s eyes, Lu Fan seemed like a good person. She hoped Jiang Sifan could forgive Uncle Lu soon. Seeing another family happily reunited would make her happy, too.
So, she took the initiative to persuade him. "Class President, I’m not trying to speak up for Uncle Lu. I just think you’ve been putting too much pressure on yourself. You have to support your family, take care of your sister, and run a business... you carry everything on your own shoulders. Now that someone wants to help share that burden, why won’t you accept it?"
Jiang Sifan explained, "He owes my mom, not me."
"That’s not it. He’s always wanted to make it up to you, your sister, and your mother, but you’ve never given him the chance. Class President, I know they say it’s best not to meddle in other people’s family matters, but I still hope you can reconcile with Uncle Lu. I also really hope you can enjoy the happiness of a family reunion. After all, I’ve never known what it feels like to be truly valued."
