Chapter 422: Chapter 239: New Year’s Day Night! Lu Fan’s Grand Confession, Jiang Sifan Says Yes

"Don’t be silly." Jiang Silu blushed.

Lu Yao laughed. "I’m not being silly. Look at the way those people are staring. It’s like they want to snatch your dad away."

The group walked to the entrance, where Lu Fan was waiting by his car.

He was wearing a dark blue overcoat and holding his phone. When he saw them come out, he put it away and walked over with a smile.

"That was a good performance." He glanced at Jiang Silu first, then at the other girls. "You all danced very well."

Jiang Silu ran over and held up her flowers, saying happily, "Dad, thank you. I didn’t dance that well, but you still sent so many flowers."

Lu Fan smiled and ruffled her hair. "You danced well, even better than I imagined. To be able to dance like that your first time on stage is already very impressive."

Jiang Silu lowered her head and buried her face in the flowers, not wanting him to see her teary eyes.

Lu Yao stood to the side, holding her own bouquet, and said with a grin, "Uncle Lu, I can’t believe we got flowers too~"

Lu Fan chuckled. "You all worked hard rehearsing with Silu. You deserve them."

"Thank you, Uncle Lu! We didn’t really do much. It was all Silu’s great dancing," Lin Xiaoyi said, hugging her flowers with a blush.

Lu Fan opened the rear car door and gestured for them to get in. "Hop in. I’ll drive you back to your dorm."

The girls got into the car, chattering away.

Sitting in the back seat, Lu Yao held her flowers and gazed at the night scenery outside. Suddenly, she said, "Uncle Lu, you’re too good to us. You found us a practice studio and even sent us flowers. Our classmates are all dying of envy."

"It’s only right. You’re Silu’s friends, which makes you my friends too," Lu Fan said with a smile, glancing at her in the rearview mirror.

"Silu is so lucky to have a dad like you," Lin Xiaoyi added with a nod.

Chen Yu chimed in from the side, "Exactly! My parents never come to watch my performances."

Jiang Silu grew shy from their comments, lowering her head to bury her face in her flowers again.

Lu Fan glanced at her in the rearview mirror. The corner of his mouth curved up, but he didn’t say anything.

When they arrived at the dormitory, the girls got out of the car.

Holding her flowers, Lu Yao waved to Lu Fan. "Goodbye, Uncle Lu! Thank you!"

Lin Xiaoyi and Chen Yu thanked him as well.

Jiang Silu stood by the car, hugging her flowers with her head down, not saying a word.

Lu Fan rolled down the window and looked at her. "What’s wrong? Are you unhappy?"

Jiang Silu shook her head and looked up. Her eyes were red, but she was smiling. "I’m happy. Very happy. Thank you, Dad."

Lu Fan reached out and ruffled her hair. "Go on inside. It’s cold out."

Jiang Silu nodded, turned, and ran toward the dorm with her flowers.

After a few steps, she glanced back at him.

He was still in the car, watching her.

She waved, then turned and ran into the building.

Meanwhile, Jiang Sifan had also taken Wen Wan to see the university’s New Year’s Gala.

After the gala ended, he walked Wen Wan back to her dorm.

Their relationship had progressed rapidly over the past two days.

Once they were downstairs from her dorm, they gazed at each other for a long moment.

Jiang Sifan finally opened his mouth, but all he said was, "Get some rest."

Wen Wan nodded and turned to walk into the building.

After a few steps, she glanced back at him.

He was standing there under a streetlight, watching her.

She waved, then turned and ran into the building. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Jiang Sifan remained where he was, watching her back disappear through the door, and stood there for quite some time.

He glanced down at his phone and only then saw several messages from He Lingyi.

He Lingyi: [Brother Sifan, it’s New Year’s Eve. Can you come out? I got permission to skip evening study because I want to see you.]

He Lingyi: [I’m waiting for you at the school gate.]

He Lingyi: [You don’t have plans with someone else, do you?]

Jiang Sifan stared at the messages, and his heart sank.

He did indeed have plans with Wen Wan today to take her to the gala.

But Wen Wan had already gone back.

He thought for a moment, then sent a reply to He Lingyi.

Jiang Sifan: [Where are you? I’m on my way.]

He Lingyi replied instantly.

He Lingyi: [The school gate! I’ll be waiting!]

Jiang Sifan put his phone away and quickened his pace toward the school gate.

As he approached the gate, he could see He Lingyi standing under a streetlight in the distance.

She was wearing a white down jacket and a red scarf. Her hair was down, and she had on light makeup.

When she saw him emerge, her eyes lit up, and she ran over with a smile.

"Brother Sifan!" She ran up to him and looked up, her cheeks flushed. "I thought you weren’t coming."

Jiang Sifan looked at her and smiled. "Of course not. You took time off, so how could I not come?"

He Lingyi beamed and linked her arm through his, pulling him away. "Let’s go, let’s go! To the plaza. I heard there will be New Year’s fireworks."

Jiang Sifan stumbled slightly as she pulled him along. "Slow down, slow down, we have time."

He Lingyi didn’t listen and walked even faster. "We’re almost there! It’s almost midnight."

A large crowd had already gathered in the plaza, standing in small groups and waiting for the countdown.

He Lingyi pulled Jiang Sifan through the crowd to the front and found a good spot to stand.

She looked up at the sky, her eyes sparkling.

"Brother Sifan, do you think the fireworks will be pretty this year?"

Jiang Sifan looked at her. "They will be. They’re pretty every year."

He Lingyi smiled, leaning against him with her arm still linked through his.

Jiang Sifan didn’t pull away, just letting her lean on him.

The countdown began.

Ten, nine, eight, seven...

The crowd shouted along, their voices growing louder and louder. He Lingyi joined in, her voice crisp and clear.

Six, five, four, three, two, one!

"Happy New Year!" The plaza erupted in cheers.

One after another, fireworks shot into the sky—red, green, purple, and gold—illuminating the entire night.
