Chapter 456: Chapter 251: Lu Fan Kisses Jiang Yixia in Public for the First Time

Jiang Yixia stared at him for a few seconds, frowning. "You had this planned all along, didn’t you? Buying the tickets first, then coming to get me, betting that I wouldn’t say no?"

Lu Fan laughed. His smile was a mix of guilt and brazen confidence. "You know me best, Yixia. But I genuinely wanted to make you happy. You’ve been in a bad mood lately, I can tell. You might not say it, but your eyes don’t lie."

Jiang Yixia sighed, stood up, and slung her bag over her shoulder.

She didn’t say she would go, nor did she say she wouldn’t. She simply started walking toward the door.

Lu Fan hurried after her and pushed the door open. Chen He’s car was already waiting at the entrance, engine running and headlights on.

After getting in the car, Lu Fan gave the address. Chen He acknowledged it, started the engine, and drove toward Wanda Plaza.

On the fourth floor of Wanda Plaza, the comedy theater wasn’t large, but it was packed with people.

When the lights dimmed, the noise from the audience gradually subsided, replaced by rolling laughter and hushed whispers.

The host came on stage to warm up the crowd, telling a few jokes and successfully hyping up the atmosphere.

Since they arrived late, the seats in the back were already full when they entered.

Just then, the lights suddenly came up. A man in a casual suit jacket walked out from the side of the stage, holding a microphone and grinning as he scanned the audience.

"Hello, everyone! I’m your comedian for tonight. My name is Tong Dawei—not the actor Tong Dawei, but the joke-teller Tong Dawei. How about a little welcome for me? Where’s the applause?"

The audience clapped. The applause wasn’t thunderous, but it wasn’t dead either.

Tong Dawei took a couple of steps on stage, his gaze sweeping over the front row before suddenly landing on Jiang Yixia and Lu Fan, who were still walking.

His eyes lit up. He pointed at them and said with a smile, "Hey, we’ve got two audience members here who are especially good-looking! Come on, come on, light guy, put a spotlight on them so I can get a better look."

A spotlight swung over, perfectly illuminating Jiang Yixia and Lu Fan.

Jiang Yixia squinted against the bright light, instinctively flinching to the side.

Lu Fan, however, was calm. With a smile playing on his lips, he even gave a nod toward the stage.

Tong Dawei immediately gestured to them. "Come on, come on, don’t be shy. Take a seat up front."

And just like that, Lu Fan and Jiang Yixia sat down in the front row.

There’s a tradition in stand-up comedy: the audience members most willing to interact sit in the front row.

"As they say, our front row is no place for slackers!" Tong Dawei came down from the stage, walked up to them with the microphone, and said with a grin, "You two, forgive me for asking, but are you a couple?"

Lu Fan shook his head, his tone casual and composed. "Nope."

Tong Dawei paused for a second, looking from Jiang Yixia to Lu Fan and back, amused. "Not a couple? Then you two are... on a date? You look pretty good together."

Jiang Yixia’s face grew slightly hot. She lowered her head and said nothing.

Lu Fan leaned back in his chair, hands clasped over his knees, and said with a smile, "Not a date. She’s my sister-in-law. My wife’s not home tonight, so I brought my sister-in-law out to a comedy show to help her relax."

A wave of jeers and catcalls erupted from the audience. Some people laughed, some clapped, and some whistled.

Jiang Yixia’s face instantly turned bright red, from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears. She secretly shot Lu Fan a glare.

Lu Fan pretended not to see, his smile never wavering. He even waved at the audience.

Tong Dawei roared with laughter, pointing at Lu Fan. "Buddy, you’ve got some serious nerve! Bringing your sister-in-law to a comedy show while your wife’s away? You’re going to end up trending online! Won’t your wife raise hell when she finds out?"

He then turned to Jiang Yixia, asking with a grin, "Miss, is what he said true? Are you his sister-in-law?"

Jiang Yixia bit her lip and glared at Lu Fan, who was still grinning cheekily.

She took a deep breath and answered, "No. I’m his ex-wife."

The audience erupted again.

Tong Dawei’s jaw dropped. He looked from Lu Fan to Jiang Yixia, then slapped his thigh and said, "Ex-wife? Man, your situation is seriously complicated! Taking your ex-wife to a comedy show and claiming she’s your sister-in-law? Sounds like you’re trying to get back together! Does your wife know you brought your ex-wife out? Oh, wait. You said your wife wasn’t home... you don’t mean her, do you?"

The audience dissolved into laughter.

Lu Fan laughed. He didn’t explain or deny anything, just glanced at Jiang Yixia.

Jiang Yixia turned her head away, refusing to look at him, but her ears were still red.

Tong Dawei paced around the stage for a moment, then suddenly clapped his hands and said with a smile, "Alright, you two, since you’re here, let’s play a game. I’d like to invite you up on stage to help me with some audience participation. Don’t worry, it’s not hard—just a few small questions and one little task. What do you all say?"

The audience roared their approval, with a loud rattle of applause. Some people even started chanting, "Get on stage! Get on stage!"

Jiang Yixia wanted to refuse, but Lu Fan had already stood up and reached out to pull her by the arm.

His hand was warm. His grip on her wrist wasn’t tight, but she didn’t pull away.

So, she had no choice but to stand up and follow him onto the stage.

The stage lights were a blinding white, making it hard for her to open her eyes.

She stood next to Lu Fan, unsure of what to do with her hands, so she just clutched the hem of her clothes.

Tong Dawei had them stand facing each other, about an arm’s length apart.

He held the microphone and said with a grin, "Okay, first question. You two, how many years have you known each other?"

Lu Fan thought for a moment before answering, "Nineteen years. Almost twenty."

Tong Dawei’s eyes lit up again. "Nineteen years? That’s a long time. Longer than I’ve known my own wife! Alright, second question: how long has it been since you last saw each other?"
