Chapter 457: Chapter 251: Lu Fan Kisses Jiang Yixia in Front of Everyone for the First Time
"Nineteen years for me, too." Lu Fan glanced at Jiang Yixia, his tone calm.
The audience fell silent for a moment, followed by a ripple of quiet murmurs.
Tong Dawei paused, his smile fading. He nodded, not pressing the issue.
He looked from Lu Fan to Jiang Yixia, then suddenly said, "You two, could I have you look into each other’s eyes for ten seconds? No smiling, no blinking. And... begin."
Jiang Yixia raised her head and looked at Lu Fan.
His eyes were bright, reflecting the stage lights, the shadowy audience, and her own face.
As she stared, her heart began to beat faster.
His gaze didn’t waver. He just looked at her, the corners of his mouth turned up in a faint smile—not too wide, not too subtle, but just right.
She suddenly remembered nineteen years ago, when they had first gotten together. He used to look at her just like this.
’Back then, I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with him.’
And now, here he was, standing before her again, looking at her with that very same gaze.
Tong Dawei counted down from the side, "One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... ten! All right, stop!"
Jiang Yixia lowered her head, her face burning hot.
Tong Dawei leaned in, grinning. "Hey, beautiful, how did that feel? Did your heart start racing?"
Jiang Yixia opened her mouth, unsure of what to say.
Lu Fan answered for her. "She’s shy. She’s been shy since she was a kid. When she gets shy, she clams up."
The audience laughed again.
Tong Dawei clapped his hands and nodded. "Okay, for our final segment! I’d like you two to perform a little action. Sir, please hold out your hand, palm up. Ma’am, please place your hand in his. Come on, take it slow, no need to rush."
Jiang Yixia hesitated for a moment, then slowly extended her hand and placed it in Lu Fan’s palm.
His hand was warm. His palm was rough, covered with a thin layer of calluses.
Her hand was so small he held it completely in his. She could feel the warmth of his palm seeping into her, bit by bit.
Tong Dawei said, "Now, sir, please say something—anything you’d like. After you’ve spoken, please kiss the back of the lady’s hand. Make it heartfelt, now! The whole audience is watching."
Catcalls erupted from the audience. Some people were shouting, "Kiss her!" others were clapping, and still others were pulling out their phones to record.
Jiang Yixia’s face was beet red. She tried to pull her hand back, but Lu Fan tightened his grip, refusing to let go.
He looked at her for two seconds, then spoke.
His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried with perfect clarity through the silent theater.
"Yixia, I’m sorry I made you wait so long. I won’t let it happen again."
Tears instantly welled up in Jiang Yixia’s eyes.
She bit her lip, forcing herself not to cry aloud. The audience fell silent for a second before applause erupted, ROARING like a tidal wave.
Someone shouted, "Kiss her!" Someone else yelled, "Get together!" and there were whistles from the crowd.
But Jiang Yixia was clearly reluctant.
Lu Fan had no choice but to whisper a reminder, "I’m going to kiss the back of my own hand. It’s just for the angle, relax."
Hearing this, Jiang Yixia had no choice but to agree.
Lu Fan then lowered his head, his lips drawing near.
He was originally aiming for the back of his own hand, but at the last second, his lips shifted slightly and pressed against the back of her hand instead.
It wasn’t a light peck. It was a real, solid kiss—his warm, soft lips pressing against the back of her hand.
Jiang Yixia’s hand was trembling, but she didn’t pull it away.
’The only reason I’m not punching this scumbag right now is because there are too many people watching.’
Tong Dawei egged them on from the side. "A kiss! A kiss! Did you all see that? He kissed her! I counted for three seconds—a full three seconds!"
The audience roared with laughter, and the applause grew even louder.
Tong Dawei wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a smile, "Thank you both for your cooperation today. I wish you happiness. Truly, I wish you both all the best. I can tell this gentleman is completely sincere. Nineteen years is a long time. Cherish what you have."
Once they were off the stage, Jiang Yixia stormed ahead, her high heels clicking sharply against the floor.
Lu Fan followed behind her, calling out with a smile, "Yixia, slow down! The floor’s slippery, don’t fall."
The two of them then returned to their seats.
The rest of the comedy show was brilliant, but Jiang Yixia’s mind was a complete mess.
She was still reeling from what Lu Fan had just done.
When the comedy show ended, Jiang Yixia ignored him and was the first one out of the theater.
She stepped into an elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.
Lu Fan followed her in and stood beside her.
As it happened, they were the only two in the elevator. It was silent save for the low HUM of its operation.
Jiang Yixia stared at her reflection in the elevator doors. Her eyes were red, tear tracks still wet on her face, and moisture clung to her eyelashes.
The elevator reached the first floor and the doors slid open.
Jiang Yixia strode out, her pace quickening to a near-jog.
Lu Fan caught up, falling into step beside her. "What’s wrong? Are you mad?" he said with a laugh. "Was it because I called you my ’little sister-in-law’ earlier? Did that upset you?"
Jiang Yixia stopped, spun around, and glared at him. "You scumbag!"
Lu Fan froze for a second, then burst out laughing, his eyes crinkling with genuine delight.
Jiang Yixia smacked him on the shoulder. The blow wasn’t heavy, but the sound was loud.
Lu Fan didn’t dodge. He took the hit with a smile. "Yixia, I couldn’t help it. The back of your hand was just too beautiful. I couldn’t resist."
Jiang Yixia shot him a glare, then turned and walked off.
Lu Fan followed behind, laughing as he went. "Slow down! I’ll stop talking, alright?"
They reached the mall entrance, where a cool night breeze blew past them.
It lifted Jiang Yixia’s hair, and she reached up to brush it aside.
Lu Fan came up to stand beside her. He didn’t say anything, just stood there with her in silence.
"Take me home," Jiang Yixia said, her voice having reverted to its usual cool indifference.
Lu Fan chuckled. "Alright, I’ll take you home, Princess."
Hearing this, Jiang Yixia remained expressionless, but the corner of her mouth lifted in a small, secret smile.
She looked up at the moon.
’So round, so beautiful.’
