Chapter 481 -258: Giving Yixia a Top-Tier Yangcheng Villa

Lu Fan followed her out and stood beside her, smiling. “So? What do you think?”

Jiang Yixia frowned. “It’s too big. It wouldn’t be comfortable to live in.”

“How is being too big not comfortable?” Lu Fan chuckled.

“It’s so big that it feels empty. Your voice echoes when you talk.” As she spoke, Jiang Yixia walked to the window to look out at the Zhujiang River. “Won’t you get lonely, living in such a big house all by yourself?”

Lu Fan looked at her, silent for two seconds, before smiling. “Then I won’t be living here alone.”

Jiang Yixia froze for a moment, then turned her head to look at him.

Lu Fan looked back at her, a smile in his eyes, but also something else—something earnest and gentle.

Jiang Yixia’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly averted her gaze, pretending to admire the scenery outside.

“In any case, I don’t like it,” she said stubbornly.

The saleswoman stood to the side, glancing between Lu Fan and Jiang Yixia with a professional smile, careful not to interrupt.

Lu Fan sighed and smiled. “Alright then, let’s go see the next one.”

After leaving the building, Jiang Yixia got into the car, leaned back against the seat, and closed her eyes.

Lu Fan sat beside her and glanced at Chen He in the rearview mirror. Chen He got the hint and started the car.

“Where’s the next one?” Jiang Yixia asked, her eyes still closed.

“Still in Pearl River New City, just a different complex,” Lu Fan said with a smile.

Jiang Yixia opened her eyes and looked at him. “Just how many places are you planning to buy?”

“We should see a few more, just to compare,” Lu Fan chuckled. “You can give me your input. I’m clueless about this stuff.”

Jiang Yixia sighed but said nothing more.

The second property was in another complex, also on the riverfront. It was a bit smaller than the first, at two hundred and eighty square meters.

The saleswoman was just as enthusiastic and also addressed her as “Madam.”

Jiang Yixia had learned her lesson this time and didn’t correct her, but her ears burned red each time she heard the title.

This apartment’s living room wasn’t as large as the first, but the layout was more conventional. The terrace was also bigger and lined with all sorts of flowers and plants.

Although they were unkempt and overgrown, you could tell that with a little care, it would be a very pleasant space.

Standing on the terrace and looking at the withered flowers, Jiang Yixia said without thinking, “These flowers need watering.”

The saleswoman quickly chimed in, “Yes, Madam. The property has been vacant for some time, so the plants haven’t been cared for. If you enjoy gardening, this place would be perfect for you. The terrace is large enough to plant a lot of flowers.”

Jiang Yixia glanced at the saleswoman, opened her mouth to say something, but held her tongue.

She turned to Lu Fan and asked, “How much is this one?”

Lu Fan quoted a price.

Jiang Yixia gasped and shook her head. “That’s too expensive. It’s not worth it.”

“You don’t think it’s worth it?” Lu Fan asked with a smile.

“Not worth it,” Jiang Yixia said emphatically. “The location is great, but the apartment is west-facing, so it must get blazing hot in the afternoon. And even though the terrace is big, the western exposure makes it hard to keep plants alive. Just look at those flowers—they’ve all withered in the sun.”

The saleswoman stood by, her smile looking a bit stiff.

Lu Fan looked at Jiang Yixia, the amusement in his eyes deepening.

He nodded. “You have a point,” he said earnestly. “Alright, on to the next one.”

“There’s another one?” Jiang Yixia’s eyes widened.

“We’re already out, might as well see a few more,” Lu Fan chuckled.

The third property was on Ersha Island.

Ersha Island is one of the most expensive districts in Yangcheng. Surrounded by the river, it’s a tranquil oasis in the heart of the bustling city, home only to the rich and powerful.

The car crossed a bridge and entered a gated community. The villas inside were spaced far apart, and each one had its own private yard.

Jiang Yixia got out of the car and simply stared at the villa before her, stunned for a long moment.

The villa was European in style, with off-white walls, a red-tiled roof, and two Roman columns framing the entrance. A plumeria tree grew in the yard, its branches dotted with a few small, yellow blossoms that gave off a faint, sweet scent.

“President Lu, Madam, this way, please.” A male agent in a suit greeted them. He was more professional than the previous two women—a man of few words, but each one was precise and effective.

Once inside, Jiang Yixia fell silent.

The villa wasn’t huge—at least, it was smaller than the two sprawling apartments they had seen earlier—but every inch of space was used to create a sense of comfort.

The living room wasn’t large, but it had a very high ceiling adorned with a crystal chandelier. Sunlight streamed in from a second-story window, pooling on the sofa below.

The kitchen was an open-plan design connected to the dining room, whose window looked out into the yard and the plumeria tree.

The second floor had three bedrooms. The master bedroom faced south, with a direct view of the Zhujiang River.

The third floor was an attic converted into a study. Two walls were lined with bookshelves, while the third featured a large, circular window, like an eye gazing out at the river.

Jiang Yixia stood before the circular window and gazed out for a long time.

A breeze skimmed across the river, creating layer upon layer of ripples.

In the distance, a few white birds—seagulls or egrets, she couldn’t tell which—were soaring high and free.

“Do you like this one?” Lu Fan asked softly from behind her.

Jiang Yixia didn’t answer, but she didn’t say she disliked it, either.

Lu Fan smiled, then turned to the agent. “We’ll take this one.”

“Very good, President Lu.” The agent nodded and left to prepare the paperwork.

Jiang Yixia’s mouth fell open, but no words came out.

‘The truth was, she’d fallen in love with the house the moment she stepped into the yard.’

‘That plumeria tree, that high-ceilinged living room, that circular window, the view of the river outside… ‘

‘She loved every single thing about it.’

‘But she couldn’t say that.’

“You’re the one buying the house. As long as you like it, that’s all that matters.” She turned away, blushing, refusing to look at Lu Fan.

Lu Fan just smiled and said nothing more.

The agent returned with the contract. Lu Fan sat on the living room sofa, flipped through a few pages, and signed it.
