Chapter 487 -260: Jiang Yixia Relents and Finally Agrees

Soon, Lu Fan brought them to the villa.

The villa’s courtyard was much larger than Jiang Silu had imagined.

The moment the car stopped, she pushed the door open and jumped out, standing under the plumeria tree and spinning around with her head tilted back.

“Mom, hurry, come and see!” Jiang Silu shouted into the car.

Jiang Yixia pushed her door open, got out, and stood at the entrance to the courtyard without going any further.

She glanced at the cream-colored villa, then at the plumeria tree in the courtyard, before finally letting her gaze fall on Lu Fan.

Lu Fan was just getting out of the driver’s seat, car keys in hand. He smiled and said, “Want to go in and have a look?”

Jiang Sifan got out of the back seat, with Wen Wan following him.

Wen Wan was wearing a light gray sweatshirt today, her hair tied in a low ponytail. She stood next to Jiang Sifan, clutching the strap of her schoolbag, looking a little reserved.

“Sister Wen Wan, come on, I’ll take you to see my room!” Jiang Silu ran over, took Wen Wan’s hand, and the two of them went into the house first.

Jiang Sifan glanced at Lu Fan, then at Jiang Yixia, hesitated for a moment, and followed them inside.

Only Lu Fan and Jiang Yixia were left in the courtyard.

“Why aren’t you going in?” Lu Fan asked.

Jiang Yixia didn’t look at him, her eyes fixed on the villa in disbelief. “You really bought it?”

Lu Fan chuckled. “Bought it. I’ve already signed the contract.”

“Why would you spend so much money?” Jiang Yixia fell silent for a few seconds, then sighed.

“To live in,” Lu Fan said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “When the kids come home for break, we can’t keep squeezing into that tiny apartment. The last time Silu washed her hair, the water pressure wasn’t even stable, and she yelped when it got scalding hot. Have you forgotten?”

Jiang Yixia didn’t say anything.

“Come on, let’s go see the inside. It’s even more beautiful,” Lu Fan said, then started walking toward the house.

“It’s not like I didn’t see it yesterday…” Jiang Yixia muttered, standing in the courtyard for a few more seconds before following him.

In the living room, Jiang Silu was pulling Wen Wan down to sit on the sofa.

The sofa was genuine leather, wide and soft. The two of them sat side by side, Jiang Silu’s hand stroking the armrest over and over as if it were some priceless treasure.

“Sister Wen Wan, look at this sofa! It’s more comfortable than my bed,” Jiang Silu said with a smile.

Wen Wan nodded and looked around.

The living room was huge, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the courtyard. Sunlight streamed in from outside, making the entire room bright and airy.

The ceiling was high, and a crystal chandelier hung from it. It wasn’t turned on, but the sunlight hitting it refracted into tiny, glittering specks of light that danced on the walls and floor.

Jiang Sifan stood in the middle of the living room, spun around once, and said nothing.

He glanced at the kitchen. It was an open-plan design, and the stove, sink, and cabinets were all new and fully equipped with appliances.

He thought of the apartment he was currently living in. ‘It can’t even compare to this place,’ he reflected.

Lu Fan walked in from behind them and said with a smile, “There are more rooms upstairs. Want to go have a look?”

Jiang Silu was the first to leap to her feet, pulling Wen Wan along as she ran upstairs.

Jiang Sifan followed, his pace unhurried, but he didn’t fall behind.

Jiang Yixia walked at the very back.

The second-floor hallway was long and laid with hardwood floors that made no sound underfoot.

A few paintings hung on the wall, all of them landscapes.

Jiang Silu pushed open the first door, poked her head in to look, and let out a “Wow!”

The room was spacious, with a large bed in the center. The headboard was upholstered in a soft, light gray fabric, flanked by two nightstands, each with a small lamp.

The curtains were cream-colored, and pulling them open revealed the plumeria tree in the courtyard.

“Mom, this one’s for you!” Jiang Silu called back to Jiang Yixia.

Jiang Yixia walked over, glanced inside, and shook her head. “It’s too big. I wouldn’t be comfortable in here.”

“What’s wrong with being big?” Jiang Silu said, getting anxious.

“It’s not an issue of size,” Jiang Yixia said no more and turned to look at the other rooms.

The second room was a little smaller than the first, but it was south-facing and got good sunlight. There was a bay window in the corner, topped with a soft cushion and several throw pillows.

Jiang Yixia stood at the door for a moment, then nodded. “This one’s fine.”

Jiang Silu ran over, took a look, and said with a frown, “This one is too small. Mom, you should take the big one.”

“No,” Jiang Yixia mumbled.

Jiang Silu watched her mother’s retreating back, sighed, and pulled Wen Wan along to see the other rooms.

The third room, at the end of the hall, was the largest. It came with its own walk-in closet and bathroom.

The floor-to-ceiling windows looked out directly onto the lake, its surface glittering in the light. In the distance was the silhouette of Phoenix Mountain.

Jiang Silu stood at the window, gazing out for a long moment before turning to Wen Wan. “Sister Wen Wan, this one is for you.”

Wen Wan froze for a second, then quickly waved her hands in refusal. “No, no, I can just stay in a guest room.”

“What guest room? This is *your* room,” Jiang Silu said seriously, holding her hand. “My dad said he saved a room for you. From now on, whenever you’re on break, you can come to Yangcheng to visit. You won’t have to stay in a hotel.”

Wen Wan’s eyes grew red.

She lowered her head, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt, her voice choked with emotion. “Uncle Lu… why would he still be thinking of me…?”

“You’re my brother’s girlfriend, so you’re family. Of course he’s thinking of you,” Jiang Silu said with a smile.

Wen Wan lifted her head and glanced at Jiang Sifan.

Jiang Sifan was standing at the doorway with his hands in his pockets, looking right at her.

His gaze was gentle, and the corners of his mouth were turned up in a slight smile. He didn’t say a word, but Wen Wan understood.

Jiang Silu pulled her along again to see the room next door.

At the other end of the hall were two more rooms. One was a study, with two walls lined with empty bookshelves, waiting to be filled.

The attic room had a slanted roof and a round window that faced the lake.

On the windowsill sat a pot of pothos, its verdant leaves trailing down a short way.
