Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 531: Jiang Silu Officially Takes Over the Group’s Design!! Lu Fan’s Favoritism!
It had been a long time since Lu Fan last saw Silu and Sifan. Combined with the fact that Jiang Yixia needed some time to recover, he decided to fly back to Jinling from Yangcheng.
His flight landed at two o’clock in the afternoon. Soon, his car left the airport and merged onto the highway, heading toward the estate.
Sitting in the back seat, Lu Fan watched the scenery roll by outside the window. His mind wandered back to how Jiang Yixia had looked that morning. With her face flushed and her eyes wide, she had resembled a startled cat with its fur standing on end. Lu Fan couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Mr. Lu, are we heading straight back to the estate?” Chen He asked, glancing at him through the rearview mirror.
“Let’s go to Jinling University first,” Lu Fan said, his tone relaxed as he leaned back in his seat.
Chen He nodded and changed directions, driving toward Jinling University.
When the car pulled up to the university’s entrance, Lu Fan stepped out. He instructed Chen He to wait in the vehicle while he entered the campus alone.
It was late March in Jinling. The leaves of the plane trees had already sprouted into a lush green, forming a thick canopy overhead. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the foliage, scattering across the flagstone paths like pieces of shattered gold.
Lu Fan took out his phone, opened his chat with Jiang Silu, and sent a message: “Silu, which classroom are you in right now?”
When she didn’t reply, he had Jiali pull up her class schedule and eventually made his way toward the teaching building.
The third-floor corridor was quiet. Lu Fan found Room 302. The door was open, so he slipped in quietly through the back. The classroom was filled with students, all keeping their heads down as they listened to the lecture. The professor at the podium—a gray-haired man wearing glasses—was explaining the principles of landscape plant arrangement.
Lu Fan found an empty seat in the last row and sat down. Directly in front of him sat a girl with a ponytail. She was taking notes with her head bowed, writing so quickly that her pen made a soft SCRATCH SCRATCH sound against the paper. Lu Fan glanced at her back. It was Jiang Silu.
She was wearing a light blue hoodie, her hair tied up to reveal her fair, slender neck. Leaning back in his chair, Lu Fan quietly watched his daughter’s profile.
Jiang Silu was completely absorbed in the lecture. She would occasionally look up at the blackboard before bowing her head to take notes, her pen never stopping for a moment. When the professor asked a question, she hesitated briefly before raising her hand. Called upon, she stood up and answered fluently. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear and confident.
Listening to her, a smile tugged at the corners of Lu Fan’s lips. He remembered what she had been like more than half a year ago when she first started university. Back then, she had been entirely withdrawn. She spoke in whispers, walked with her head down, and never dared to look people in the eye.
The first time he visited her at Jinling University, she had stood at the campus gates with her head lowered, clutching her backpack straps like a child who had done something wrong. At the time, she had just been the victim of Zhao Tianyu’s vicious rumors, leaving her completely wilted. When he asked her what was wrong, she couldn’t even speak; tears had just welled up in her eyes. His heart had ached for her, yet he hadn’t known how to comfort her.
But slowly, she began to change. She started taking on design commissions, opened her own studio, and began initiating conversations with others. When she stood on stage to present her proposals, her voice was steady and her gaze firm. She was like a completely different person.
Looking at the Jiang Silu sitting in the classroom now—her eyes bright and her tone resolute as she answered questions—he saw someone entirely distinct from the girl she had been a year ago. A sudden wave of emotion washed over Lu Fan. His little girl had truly grown up.
Beside Jiang Silu, Lu Yao let out a yawn and turned around to talk to the classmate behind her. As soon as she turned her head, she spotted Lu Fan. Lu Yao’s eyes instantly went wide, her mouth forming a perfect ‘O’.
Lu Fan pressed a finger to his lips, making a shushing gesture. Lu Yao quickly covered her mouth, nodded vigorously, and turned back around. She tapped Jiang Silu’s arm.
Without looking up, Jiang Silu whispered, “What is it?”
Lu Yao didn’t say a word, merely pointing behind them.
Jiang Silu turned around and saw Lu Fan sitting in the back row, looking at her with a beaming smile. She froze for a moment before her eyes lit up. She opened her mouth to call out for her dad, but remembering she was still in class, she hurriedly covered her mouth and faced forward again.
She flipped to the last page of her notebook, quickly scribbled a line, and handed it to Lu Yao. Lu Yao took a glance and passed it to the classmate behind her. The note eventually made its way to Lu Fan. He unfolded it and read: “Dad, what are you doing here? You didn’t even tell me beforehand.”
Lu Fan smiled and wrote a reply underneath: “Just checking to see if you’re paying attention in class.”
He then folded the paper and handed it back to the student in front of him to pass along. Once Jiang Silu received the note, a smile graced her lips as she read it, and she tucked the slip of paper safely into her notebook.
The bell rang, signaling the end of class.
Jiang Silu was the first to stand up. She turned around and jogged to the back row, stopping in front of Lu Fan. “Dad, when did you get here?” she asked with a bright smile.
“I’ve been here for a little while,” Lu Fan said, standing up with a cheerful chuckle. “I even sat through a lecture on landscape plant arrangement. It was pretty good.”
“Did you even understand it?” Jiang Silu teased playfully.
“Not a word,” Lu Fan admitted honestly. “But I could see you were listening very carefully.”
Lu Yao came over as well and laughed, “Uncle Lu, why were you being so sneaky? You scared us!”
“How was I being sneaky?” Lu Fan laughed. “I walked right in, fair and square.”
Song Miaomiao and Liu Shiting gathered around them as well.
“Uncle Lu, are you here to see Silu?” Song Miaomiao asked with a smile.
“I’m here to see Silu, and to see all of you, too,” Lu Fan replied warmly. “Come on, let’s go. I’m treating you girls to a meal.”
The girls let out a cheer, packed up their things, and followed Lu Fan out of the classroom. Lu Fan walked in front with Jiang Silu by his side, her arm happily linked through his.
