Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 532: Jiang Silu Officially Takes Over the Group’s Design!! Lu Fan’s Favoritism!
Lu Fan looked down at his daughter with a smile. “You spoke well when answering that question just now.”
“You heard me?” Jiang Silu asked, a little embarrassed.
“I did.” Lu Fan nodded. “Your voice is much louder than before. You used to sound like a mosquito.”
Jiang Silu blushed and laughed. “I was timid back then.”
“And you’re braver now?” Lu Fan chuckled.
“I’m a college freshman now. Of course I’ve grown braver,” Jiang Silu said with a smile.
Lu Fan simply smiled without saying another word as the group exited the teaching building and headed toward the school gates.
Trailing at the back, Lu Yao held up her phone, recording a video while muttering, “Documenting this: Silu’s dad is treating us to a meal.”
Song Miaomiao glanced back at her with an amused smile. “Why are you recording this?”
“For the memories!” Lu Yao said, fully justified. “It’ll be so meaningful to look back on this after we graduate.”
Liu Shiting walked beside them in silence, though a gentle smile played on her lips.
A black commercial van was parked at the school gates, with Chen He waiting beside it. Seeing them emerge, he pulled open the rear door.
“Uncle Chen, long time no see,” Jiang Silu greeted with a smile.
“Miss,” Chen He nodded, returning the smile.
The girls piled into the back seat while Lu Fan took the front passenger side. Chen He started the engine, and the car headed toward the city center.
“What would you like to eat?” Lu Fan asked, glancing back at the girls.
“Anything is fine. We’re happy with whatever Uncle Lu treats us to,” Song Miaomiao said cheerfully.
“Let’s have hotpot, then,” Lu Fan chuckled. “Silu loves hotpot.”
Jiang Silu paused, then asked with a smile, “Dad, how did you know I love hotpot?”
“Your mom told me,” Lu Fan replied, grinning. “She said you always beg her to make hotpot every time you go home.”
Blushing, Jiang Silu laughed. “Why does my mom tell you everything?”
Lu Fan just smiled, offering no reply.
The car arrived at a hotpot restaurant in the city center, a rather famous spot in Jinling. Lu Fan had instructed Chen He to book a private room in advance. As the group settled in, a waiter brought over the menu.
“Order whatever you like,” Lu Fan said, handing the menu to Jiang Silu.
She took it, flipped through the pages, and selected a few items. Lu Yao leaned over, pointing at the beef tripe on the menu, exclaiming, “This, this!” Song Miaomiao chimed in, “We need shrimp paste too!” while Liu Shiting simply said, “I’m fine with anything.”
Together, they ordered a table completely full of food.
When the soup base was brought out, the red chili oil bubbled vigorously, sending up thick clouds of fragrant steam. Jiang Silu began dropping the ingredients into the pot one by one. Sitting beside her, Lu Fan watched her busy herself, a fond smile on his lips.
“Dad, aren’t you going to eat?” Jiang Silu asked.
“I will. You go ahead and put the food in first,” he replied warmly.
Jiang Silu picked up a piece of beef tripe with her chopsticks, swished it briefly in the boiling broth, and placed it into Lu Fan’s bowl.
Staring at the tripe in his bowl, Lu Fan was taken aback for a moment before smiling. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Jiang Silu beamed.
Watching from the side, Lu Yao sighed in admiration. “Silu, you treat your dad so well.”
“Of course I do. He’s my dad,” Jiang Silu stated matter-of-factly.
After they had eaten for a while, Jiang Silu set down her chopsticks and looked at Lu Fan. She hesitated for a moment before speaking up. “Dad, I want to talk to you about something.”
“What is it?” Lu Fan asked.
“My studio has been doing pretty well lately. I’m able to take on a few commissions every month, and my income has stabilized,” Jiang Silu explained slowly. “I can handle everything on my own, but I keep feeling like…”
“Keep feeling like what?” Lu Fan prompted, watching her intently.
Jiang Silu thought for a moment before answering softly, “Like it’s not enough. The orders I’m getting right now are all small—mostly a few thousand yuan, pushing ten thousand at the very best. I want to take on bigger projects, but I don’t have access to those kinds of clients.”
Lu Fan put down his chopsticks. He looked at Jiang Silu and smiled. “You want to take on big projects?”
“I do.” Jiang Silu nodded. “But I don’t know where to find them.”
Leaning back in his chair, Lu Fan considered this for a moment. “Then, do you want to take on projects from our company?” he asked with a grin.
Jiang Silu froze, her eyes widening. “Dad, what did you just say?”
“I said, do you want to take on projects from our company?” Lu Fan repeated, his tone casual. “The group has quite a few design projects every year. Landscape architecture, interior design, brand visuals—we need people to do all of it. In the past, we’ve always outsourced these to external design firms. If you’re willing to do the work, I can have Jiali assign some to you.”
Jiang Silu opened her mouth, at a loss for words. Her heart pounded furiously. The expression on her face shifted from sheer shock to intense excitement, and then to utter disbelief.
“Dad… can I really?” Jiang Silu’s voice trembled slightly.
“Why couldn’t you?” Lu Fan chuckled. “You study landscape design, you’re working in the industry, and your skills are solid. I showed that design proposal of yours to our company’s designer last time, and he said your aesthetic sense and professional abilities were both quite good. You just lack a bit of experience, but once you do a few more projects, you’ll have it.”
Tears welled up in Jiang Silu’s eyes. Sniffling, she broke into a radiant smile. “Thank you, Dad.”
“What are you thanking me for?” Lu Fan laughed. “I’m your dad. Who else would I help if not you?”
Watching the exchange, Lu Yao’s eyes also grew red. She nudged Jiang Silu’s arm and smiled. “Silu, your dad really is so good to you.”
Jiang Silu wiped her eyes, her smile unwavering. “I know.”
Song Miaomiao raised her glass enthusiastically. “Come on, let’s have a toast! To celebrate Silu landing some major projects!”
The group raised their glasses, bringing them together with a crisp CLINK.
After finishing their meal, Lu Fan led the girls out of the hotpot restaurant. Standing by the entrance, he looked at Jiang Silu with a grin. “Come on, let’s take you to see the company.”
Jiang Silu blinked in surprise. “Right now?”
“Right now,” Lu Fan laughed. “You don’t have any classes this afternoon anyway. Let’s go check out your new work environment.”
