Lu Fan chuckled along with them. After his laughter subsided, he looked at Jiang Sifan and asked, “Can’t you apply for a larger classroom?”

Jiang Sifan shook his head. “Space in the school’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Building is limited. It was already hard enough to get this room. Other startup teams are squeezed into even smaller spaces; some don’t even have windows.”

Lu Fan nodded and didn’t press the issue. He stood up and took a walk around the studio, glancing at the client list on the wall before looking over the ledger on the desk. The ledger was impeccably maintained, with every transaction recorded with absolute clarity. The handwriting belonged to Wen Wan—elegant and neat.

“You have quite a bit of business,” Lu Fan remarked.

“Yeah, we have over twenty regular clients now.” Jiang Sifan’s tone carried a hint of pride. “Our monthly cash flow is stable at around thirty thousand. After deducting costs, we’re left with twenty thousand.”

Lu Fan looked at his son and nodded approvingly. Jiang Sifan stood before him wearing a dark hoodie. His hair had grown a bit longer, resting softly over his forehead. Compared to half a year ago, he was visibly more confident, and his gaze had softened significantly.

“Sifan, let me make a suggestion,” Lu Fan said.

Jiang Sifan looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

“Our company has the Jinling Branch; we own the entire building,” Lu Fan said evenly. “There are still vacant floors in the office area. How about I have someone clear out a floor for you to use as a studio?”

Jiang Sifan froze.

Gao Lao nearly dropped his pork floss cake. Qiu Zai’s eyes widened, and he nearly choked on his milk tea. Brother Ming pushed up his glasses, looking at Lu Fan, and then back at Jiang Sifan.

“Dad, what did you say?” Jiang Sifan’s voice was a little unsteady.

“I said, I’ll give you a floor of office space,” Lu Fan repeated, his tone relaxed. “The Jinling Branch is thirty-two stories high, and several floors are currently empty. You can move over there. It’s spacious and offers a great environment.”

Jiang Sifan opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. “That… wouldn’t be very appropriate, would it?” His voice lacked its usual confidence.

“What’s inappropriate about it?” Lu Fan chuckled. “Your sister even went to the company today. I arranged a workstation for her in the design department. From now on, she’ll take on company projects and work from there. You’re her older brother; you can’t be doing worse than her, right?”

Jiang Sifan blanked for a moment. “Silu went too?”

“She did, went this afternoon and was absolutely thrilled.” Lu Fan smiled. “Even your sister dares to take on company projects. What are you, a grown man, afraid of?”

Jiang Sifan lowered his head, remaining silent for a few seconds.

Wen Wan, who was standing nearby, looked at him and said softly, “Class President, Uncle Lu is offering out of the goodness of his heart.”

Gao Lao leaned in, patting Jiang Sifan’s shoulder with a grin. “Sifan, stop hesitating. A thirty-two-story building isn’t something ordinary people can just walk into. We’re riding your coattails here.”

Qiu Zai chimed in, “Yeah, exactly! Then we can experience what it’s like to work in a real office building.”

Brother Ming nodded, offering a rare comment of his own. “It sounds great.”

Jiang Sifan looked up at his father. Lu Fan was looking right back at him, a smile playing on his lips. There was no urgency in his eyes, only endless patience.

“Dad, should I go take a look tomorrow then?” Jiang Sifan asked.

“Alright, I’ll have Chen He pick you up tomorrow morning,” Lu Fan nodded. “If you take a look and feel it isn’t suitable, we can discuss it again.”

Jiang Sifan agreed.

Lu Fan sat for a little longer, asking more about the studio’s business operations, and Jiang Sifan answered each question thoroughly. Wen Wan added a few words from the side; she didn’t say much, but every sentence hit the mark. Lu Fan listened, nodding occasionally.

Close to nine o’clock, Lu Fan stood up. “I’m heading out. You guys keep at it,” he said with a smile.

“Dad, I’ll walk you down,” Jiang Sifan said.

“No need, Chen He is waiting downstairs.” Lu Fan waved him off. As he reached the door, he glanced back at his son. “Tomorrow morning at nine. Don’t forget.”

“Got it.” Jiang Sifan nodded.

Lu Fan left the studio, his footsteps fading away down the corridor. Jiang Sifan stood at the door, gazing at the end of the hallway for quite a while before finally turning back inside.

Gao Lao, still chewing on his pork floss cake, mumbled indistinctly, “Sifan, your dad is awesome.”

Jiang Sifan smiled but didn’t say anything, sitting back down in his chair.

Wen Wan looked at him and asked softly, “Class President, are you still hesitating?”

Jiang Sifan shook his head, then nodded, finally letting out a sigh. “It’s not hesitation, I just feel like… it’s all happening too fast. A few days ago, I was stressing over the studio being too small, and tomorrow I’m going to look at an entire floor in an office building.”

“That’s a good thing,” Wen Wan smiled.

“I know it’s a good thing.” Jiang Sifan leaned back against his chair, staring up at the ceiling. “I just feel like I owe him more and more.”

Wen Wan looked at him in silence. After a few seconds, she said softly, “He’s your dad, not a stranger.”

Jiang Sifan turned his head to look at her. She was looking down, organizing the ledger. Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and a faint smile played on her lips. He remained silent, turning his head back to continue staring at the ceiling.

At nine-thirty, Jiang Sifan turned off his computer and locked the ledger in the drawer. Wen Wan packed up her things and slung on her backpack. Gao Lao and the others were still busy; Qiu Zai was on a phone call, and Brother Ming was organizing documents.

“We’re heading off first,” Jiang Sifan announced.

“Go on, see ya.” Gao Lao didn’t even look up as he waved a hand dismissively.

Jiang Sifan and Wen Wan went downstairs. The electric scooter was parked in the shed below. Jiang Sifan pushed the scooter out, and Wen Wan sat on the back, her hands gripping the edge of the seat.

“Class President,” Wen Wan called out to him.

“Mm?”

“Are you really going tomorrow?”

“I’m going.” Jiang Sifan nodded. “My dad already made the offer. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t.”
