Chapter 162: GET OUT OF THE CAR
Seara clutched her hand around the phone in her pocket. The feeling was overwhelming, and the fear made her numb.
She felt cold because she kept losing blood. This was not right; she would pass out if she didn’t get treated for the wound on her stomach.
And as if on cue, the door that led to the parking lot opened, and a few people entered. These were the people who had been staring at them when they descended in the elevator. They chased after them.
"They are also coming," Jared said. He managed to get through the other warriors, who were assigned around the hospital, and they were on their way here.
"I am good; put me down," Lidya said. She tapped Kayden’s shoulders.
"Are you sure?" Kayden put Lidya down, and she got the feel of her leg.
"Yes." It still hurt, but it was bearable. "It would be good if we could kill them all," she grunted.
"Don’t kill them; prevent them as much as possible," Jared said grimly, as they were cornered at one side of the parking lot.
"How long until they get here?" Chloe asked. She couldn’t have the same mindlink as them, since she came from a different pack and kingdom.
"Five minutes. They will get here in five minutes," Jeremy replied.
"Lidya, stay with Seara," Jared ordered. He then glanced at Jeremy. "Can you shift and fight? We will make our way to our car in the D area. Over there." He nodded in the direction of their car, which was around fifty meters away.
"I can. Don’t worry about me." Jeremy looked around. "I can’t see my mother or Zephyr. I can’t reach them through mindlink. I am not leaving without my mother."
"They must be safe somewhere. Don’t be ridiculous. We need to get there." Jared had been trying to reach for Zephyr or Leia, but he couldn’t. The other warriors also couldn’t get to them.
"I am not going without my mother," Jeremy said stubbornly. If he had to kill these people to find his mother, he was going to do that.
Jared glanced at Jeremy. He was contemplating knocking him out if he insisted on staying. His main priority was to protect the king’s mate, but Jeremy and Chloe were also a priority.
"Shift!" Jared said when the people started to run toward them.
However, before they could shift into their wolf forms, suddenly the power returned, and the dark parking lot was basked in light, blinding them for a while.
However, that was not their main problem because the return of power meant that the surveillance cameras were working again.
There were so many cameras here.
If the surveillance cameras caught them shifting into their beast forms, the realm of the shifters would be exposed to humans.
However, how could they fight fifty-plus people without killing them and make it to their car without shifting into their wolf forms?
It was impossible.
"What now?" Leigh asked; she looked at Jared.
"Run!" Jared led the way as they were chased, not only by the people but also by the cars that tried to run them over.
Seara ran as fast as she could, but her hands had grown numb, and she felt her blood seeping through her fingers.
"Come on, run!" Chloe grabbed her other hand so she wouldn’t fall behind.
"I can’t..." Seara was breathing raggedly, and when a car drove toward them, Chloe threw herself and Seara to the side.
"Go! I will get them! Get the car!" Jared told Jeremy and Kayden. Then he came back with Leigh and Lydia to get Seara and Chloe.
However, five people managed to get Kayden, and he had to fight them off. The problem was that these people, who were under the influence, couldn’t feel pain.
So, no matter how hard Kayden punched or kicked them, they wouldn’t stay down unless he killed them, which was forbidden.
"Damn it!" Kayden saw another six people who came toward him, and Lidya stayed to help. "Why are they not here yet?!" He then mind-linked the other warriors, who should have been there to help them.
But they were facing the same problem too. The only difference was that they had shifted into their wolf forms before the surveillance cameras were working.
On the other hand, Jared grabbed Seara and carried her. He saw the wound on her stomach, but he couldn’t stop to check on her. She was still breathing and conscious, so she would be able to hold on.
And while Jared rushed to the car, dodging the other people who tried to stop him, Leigh and Chloe followed behind him.
Jared bulldozed them with his build. He simply pushed or kicked out of the way anyone who tried to get to him. Even if there was someone who managed to cling to him, Leigh would take care of that.
"Lidya!" Jared called her, and she followed him.
From afar, they saw Jeremy and Kayden manage to get into the car, and they also heard the roaring sound of the wolves, which came like a wave to knock down the people who tried to come after them.
"They are really taking their sweet time," Chloe grumbled as she kept running.
With the other warriors here, the prospect of them being able to run away in one piece was rather high.
But then, before they could get to their car, two cars cut them off.
Either they had to find an alternate route, or Kayden had to run over the two cars blocking them. Without a second thought, Kayden chose the second option.
[Do you think it will work?] Jared mind-linked Kayden.
[It will. I’ve been in a handful of car crashes. I know it will work.]
Jared was not thrilled with the answer, but they really needed to get into the car quickly.
[NO! GET OUT OF THE CAR!] Jared suddenly roared through mindlink when he saw what that woman did.
