Claimed by the Mad Lycan King

Chapter 215: SHE WAS NOT ALONE

This was unusual. Zade would typically at least text her to calm her down and prevent her from spiraling into worry, but now he hadn’t even opened her message. And the last time he talked to her, he said he was going to do something pretty dangerous.

Seara couldn’t get rid of the bad thought from her mind about what could happen to him. She felt like she wanted to cry, but this was not the right time for that.

They were in the middle of a crisis, and if she had a meltdown, it would only make her seem like a burden. Not to mention, she had seen herself as one because there was nothing much she could do to help.

“It’s okay, the king will be fine. You don’t need to worry.” Lidya tried to cheer her up, but it was very clear she was not good at it.

“Thank you.” Seara tried to smile and then stood up. She fought the urge to lie down on the bed and let her depression consume her. “Is there something I can help with?”

“No, everything is under control now. The only thing left is the thing that we can’t do.” Lidya shrugged her shoulders.

It must be related to the heavy injuries.

“In that case, I will check the children.” Seara walked to the children’s unit with Lidya.

The children couldn’t heal themselves quickly because their healing ability had not yet developed well; therefore, after the attack there were many children who were injured, and they had to be under intensive care.

Currently, there were only two doctors here, and they had been overworked because of the recent attack.

Meanwhile, Jeremy and the other male warriors continued helping the search for survivors, while Leigh and Leia assisted the nurses, as both were knowledgeable about dressing wounds. In contrast, Seara and Lidya could not do well with this task.

The children’s unit was on the deeper side of the hospital, and it was on the second floor. There were a total of eleven children and four infants; two needed to be put in an incubator because of the debris that they inhaled. It was gut-wrenching to see it.

Elio was there too after he was saved from the wreckage, and so was Alpha Rune. He was in the ward with his son, who was still unconscious.

“Is there something I can help with here?” Seara asked a middle-aged nurse named Susan. Currently, there were only eleven of them, and two were delegated to the children’s unit, which meant they were extremely exhausted.

“Could you help me with the diapers? They need to be changed.” Susan waved her hands at the four toddlers, who were between two and three years old.

Susan then explained that the fathers were the warriors and they were helping to find more survivors in the wreckage, while their mothers were searching for either their siblings or other family members.

“His mother died under the collapsed building.” Susan handed the boy, around two years old, in her arms to Seara. “His father found his mate’s body this afternoon, and he is a wreck. I don’t think he can take care of his son right now. Can you help look after them?”

“Yes, sure.” Seara took the baby into her arms and started working to change his diaper.

“Get some rest, Susan. If something happens, I will inform you right away. Where is Richie?”

“She got a short nap. She will be back in thirty minutes. Is it okay if I leave you for thirty minutes?” Susan looked so tired.

“Yes, sure.” Seara smiled at her as the baby was fighting her while she changed his diaper. He tried to run away from her.

“Thank you so much. I will get some sleep. I will be in that room if you need me with anything.” Susan then walked toward an office room and fell asleep there.

Meanwhile, Lidya tried to tackle three children from running around and fighting.

Richie came thirty minutes later; her eyes were red, and her hair was messy. She was indeed exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes.

“I will need to make a cup of coffee. Do you want some?” Richie asked Seara and Lidya.

“Yes, please…”

Richie walked to the kitchen on this floor and made three cups of coffee. She was around the same age as Susan, with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. She herself had two children, but they were at their home with her sister, while her mate was one of the warriors out there, trying to find more survivors and tighten the security around the territory.

It was a critical time because, unlike humans, they didn’t have a military backup and proper weapons to defend themselves from such an attack. Even so, Asher was trying to get his hands on some heavy weapons.

Seara was not sure how he would manage that, but she thought money and connections would help.

And for herself. The children kept her mind away from Zade, stopping her from thinking about him, even though every now and then, she would check her phone only to be disappointed because there was no message from Zade. Her text still had not been read yet.

She kept telling herself that everything was alright, but she couldn’t keep up with the optimism. She could feel the panic starting to show its ugly face.

“Here, we only have this. I think we need to buy some supplies.” Richie returned with three cups and handed them out.

Seara took her cup of coffee, but she walked out of the room. “I need some fresh air. I will be back later.”

“Do you want me to accompany you?” Lidya asked. She immediately stood up, but Seara waved her hand.

“No, I want to be alone for a while.” Those children were cute, but in her state of mind, she felt overwhelmed and overstimulated by how active they were.

Seara then stepped out to get some fresh air on the balcony, but she was not alone there.
