Chapter 217: I FORGOT TO TELL YOU

  • Next Chapter

Rose finally fell asleep when the morning came, and Seara felt her arms were going to fall off. The little one was not that heavy at first, but after hours, and with the wound cuts, Seara had to admit defeat.

Rose refused to sleep and kept crying; they had to take her away from the children’s unit because she would wake the others up.

Seara, Richie, Lidya, and Susan took turns calming her down, but none of them succeeded. They had called her brother too, but he looked so exhausted, and they didn’t have the heart to let him keep trying when he looked like he was about to fall asleep when he held her. But he tried for twenty minutes before he fell asleep while Rose was still screaming at the top of her lungs.

You could only imagine how tired the young warrior was, to the point that Rose’s cry couldn’t even wake him up.

It was not until Leia came and she took the baby from Lidya’s arms, as she walked around the garden, talking in a soothing tone, that the baby finally dozed off and fell asleep. All of them breathed a sigh of relief.

"I think it is because the baby is already exhausted too," Lidya said begrudgingly, as she massaged her arm. She was sure the baby would eventually fall asleep because of exhaustion, since she had been screaming the whole night.

"Nah, I don’t think so. I heard Jeremy was not an easy baby either. He used to scream his head off, asking for his mother. I think it’s because of experience," Leigh said, correcting her twin.

"Yeah, that can be the reason as well." Lidya was a little bit sullen because she liked children and most of the time, she could get on well with them, but this little one was difficult to handle.

After the whole fiasco, the early morning was rather quiet, and they chose this time to sleep and get some rest, just in case something big might happen again in the near future—not that they wished for that.

On the other hand, Seara couldn’t sleep because her mind would race back to Zade. It had been days since the last time they interacted with each other, and he had not yet opened her text. This was beyond weird.

"Mom," Seara called for Leia when she put Rose on her bed. She turned around, and Seara could see her eyes were bloodshot and the dark circles under them were prominent.

But before Seara could ask about Zade, Leia had asked the same thing too. "Have you heard anything from Zade?"

Then Seara remembered: it was not only her who was worried about her mate; Leia was worried about hers too. Zade had gone off with Leia’s mate, putting them both in a dangerous place where they were doing dangerous things.

"No." Seara shook her head. "Have you heard anything about Caspian?"

Leia fell to her knees, and Seara rushed to her side. She thought Leia was tired and was about to faint, but when she got closer, she knew that was not the case. She was crying.

"Mom, are you okay?" Seara felt like she was about to cry as well when she saw how sad Leia was. She could feel the pain that reverberated through her body.

Leia couldn’t answer her verbally; she kept nodding her head and wiped tears from her eyes. She breathed raggedly as she tried to compose herself and not be so emotional, but she failed. Her body was trembling.

Seara understood what happened. She was about to crumble as well for not being able to reach Zade.

"I can’t get through to them. I can’t reach Caspian..." Leia whimpered.

It was astounding to see her crying like this because she always appeared so strong and reliable. She was always that one person you could rely on.

All this time, Leia had never said a word of complaint. She always looked composed, but apparently, the fa?ade finally shattered, and what was beneath it was simply a woman, a mate, who was worrying about their other half.

"I can’t reach them... what should I do?" Leia clutched Seara tightly, burying her face against her chest, while Seara held her.

Seara didn’t know what to say. Obviously, now was not the right time to express her worry about Zade while Leia was acting this way.

"They will contact us right away, Mom. They will contact us..." Seara rested her chin on top of Leia’s head. "They are fine. They will be fine. They promised to return to us, remember?"

Leia said nothing, but she was still sobbing, though she kept it down so Rose wouldn’t be awakened. And for a long moment, they stayed like that without doing anything, until Jeremy found them and looked at the two of them with bewilderment.

"What are you doing?" He approached Seara and his mother, crouching down with them as well. By this time, Leia had stopped crying, but her eyes were puffy. "Mom, are you crying?" He shifted his attention to Seara. "What have you done to my mother?"

"She missed your father," Seara replied, glaring at Jeremy for his insensitive comment.

"Oh, about that..." Jeremy blinked his eyes innocently. "I forgot to tell you that they are coming here, but it may take a few days for them to reach here, since they will meet with Zephyr and Ace first. Altair will be in his territory to lead his alphas, and they should arrive tomorrow if everything goes well."

Seara and Leia looked at Jeremy with incredulity. Leia then pushed herself away from Seara to look at her son.

"What did you say? How do you know that?" Leia literally grabbed Jeremy’s arm; her claws stabbed him, and he grimaced in pain.

"Zade contacted Asher a few hours after the attack. They lost their phone and could only make contact with Asher, but with everything that happened, I forgot to tell you."
