Claimed by the Mad Lycan King
Chapter 220: CRAZY PEOPLE, CRAZY SITUATION, CRAZY IDEA
"She is crazy." Blake clicked his tongue as he walked next to Dmitri.
"She might be crazy, but she is right." Dmitri still couldn’t believe they agreed to her crazy idea. But when they looked back, they realized it was not so crazy after all, because deep down, they knew there was no other way.
They were going to lose their lives in one way or another at this rate. Therefore, if they had nothing to lose, they might as well have had nothing to restrain them.
"Do you think Asher will manage to convince them to be on board with this idea?" Blake looked back at the apartment building behind him.
They had asked the alphas to meet with Asher and Seara, so they could relay the crazy idea, but the gamma was not sure if those alphas would be thrilled when they heard that.
"I don’t know." Dmitri glanced at the building briefly. "But I think Asher will find a way. He is not good at a battle plan, but he can be very persistent in a negotiation whenever he wants something to be done. He has a way to convince you to do something, even the ridiculous one."
Blake thought about that and sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah. I am sure he can use all of his charm to get it done."
Both of them were the people who worked close to Asher, so they knew their king more than anyone, maybe only a tad better than the Lycans.
They remembered how lazy Asher was, but he always found a way to convince someone to do his bidding, and he always got the right person to do it.
It was a strange skill, yet helpful to support his laziness.
Meanwhile, inside the bedroom where the meeting took place, seventeen alphas were in an uproar when they heard Seara’s plan.
"That’s a crazy idea! I don’t agree with that!"
"We can’t let a woman make a battle plan; this crazy idea is what we will get!"
"She has been in an asylum; she should stay there. I can see she still needs a few more treatments for her head!"
And more insults. They were on edge; everything could tip them off. And in this ’convenient’ time, Seara was there, presenting what they wanted: someone to take the blame and someone to vent their frustration on.
Seara knew this would happen; that’s why, even though the idea came from her, she wanted Asher to be the one who relayed it. She should be the one who left the room instead of Dmitri and Blake.
However, Asher had a different idea, and he insisted that Seara be the one who voiced her opinion.
The result was predictable.
Seara looked at Asher, asking with her eyes whether or not he would do something about his enraged alphas.
Yet, he was only sitting there, crossing his arms and legs, and Seara had the urge to make a cross out of him.
Losing her patience, Seara slammed her hands on the table. It hurt, and the effect was not like she expected. She wondered how the Lycans could do it with ease and created a loud banging sound that silenced the entire room. But the sound that Seara created was so pathetic.
No one stopped talking; therefore, when she started to speak, she had to raise her voice.
"Do you even have a better idea before you start complaining about mine?" Seara snarled back at them. Her hands hurt, and she still sustained wounds from her effort to save Elio. "Your previous method to disable the humans without killing them—do you really think that works? Tell me, did that method work for the thousands of warriors who died because of it?
"But here you are, trying to kill a thousand more by letting them lose their sanity from killing the humans!"
Seara noticed that the alphas here were so different from those in Zade and Altair’s territory. The alphas within Asher’s territory were very fond of being so passive. They were not on the fighting side.
"At least, they can take down as many enemies as possible!" Seara shouted back sharply. "Their death will not be a waste! They will bring down the enemy with them! They will give us time and save more people!"
"Do you want us to die?!"
Seara narrowed her eyes. "Those warriors are already dead without accomplishing anything because they feared going into madness, and we are going to die too if we keep doing it."
Rexton was in the room, but he didn’t say anything until now. He looked at Asher and, in his cold voice, he asked the king. "King Asher, you will not agree to this, right?"
Seara looked at Asher too. He was the second Lycan that she didn’t like after Altair. He didn’t even try to calm his alphas down and let her deal with them alone.
"This idea is crazy." Alpha Rune shook his head, but he held his sharp tongue. Seara noticed that. If it happened before she saved his son’s life, he would have joined the other alphas in insulting her.
"That is indeed a crazy idea." Asher nodded in agreement with everyone, which made them look triumphant, and Seara felt an urge to throw a saucer at his face. "But this is a crazy situation. We probably need a crazy person to save our asses, since the normal method has proven to have failed spectacularly."
All of them gasped, but no one there dared to throw an insult or openly disagree with Asher. Even Rexton and Rune clamped their mouths shut when Asher explained how they had no other choice.
"Choose your warriors. Anyone who wants to volunteer. Tell them their family will be taken care of. Tell them this is a one-way ticket to battle the humans."
There were some alphas who raised their concerns and protested, but Asher squashed them.
"All of you will join Grand Sturm City," Asher commanded.
