Chapter 222: I WILL BE THERE SOON

  • Next Chapter

"You are the evil woman who has made Seara’s life like a living hell. You didn’t do anything when those people poisoned her, and you didn’t even do anything when they imprisoned her for so many years."

Leia didn’t raise her voice, but you could see how Tansy’s body was trembling as she recognized someone who was out of her rank, directing their rage at her.

There was no official title for Leia, but she was someone that you don’t want to mess with. She used to deal with Caspian’s moodiness, Ace’s aloofness, Jeremy’s troublesome behavior, and Zade’s domineering nature. And somehow, she managed to survive them all, and she could even scold them like children, despite knowing Jeremy was the only one who was younger than her.

Therefore, Tansy’s retaliation was nothing to note.

Leia slapped Tansy one more time before Richie finally snapped and went to stop it. At this point, Tansy was already crying hysterically. She was even louder than Rose.

Seara was furious too because Rose’s cheek got a graze from Tansy’s nails, and she didn’t have the intention to stop Leia. In fact, she wanted Leia to give her some more slaps.

"Please, leave." Richie looked at Tansy and spoke sternly to her as she tried to hold Leia back. "You are not welcome here. Leave this room."

Crying, Tansy left, holding her cheek and the last straw of her dignity. When Tansy was out of sight, Leia turned around and took the crying Rose from Seara’s arms.

She became even more furious when she saw the graze on her cheek.

"I should have kicked her instead of slapping her. I should have pushed her from the balcony," Leia grunted angrily. She kept talking of different ways she could kill Tansy, which made Richie shudder.

"Let me see the wound." Richie took Rose from Leia’s arms so that she could examine the baby. Leia handed her over.

"Are you okay?" This time Leia checked on Seara; there was a handprint mark on her cheek, but aside from that she was fine. "I should have..."

Seara hugged her to stop the rant about how Leia was going to torture Tansy. "Mom, there are children here. Your words are not appropriate for them," she told her with a chuckle.

To be honest, Seara was so happy. The slap was not even painful anymore. She liked the fact that someone was angry for her, and it meant a lot.

"Oh, I should have slapped her harder." Leia checked on Seara’s cheek, and her blood boiled again when she saw the red handprint.

It was even worse when Jeremy came over and pointed it out. "Wow, what happened to your cheek? Someone slapped you? How dare they? Who did that to you?"

And now both mother and son were planning something to get back at Tansy, especially when Jeremy provoked her mother by reminding her of what they had done to Seara.

"Yes, we should go to their pack and slap the hell out of their pack members," Jeremy said excitedly.

It was exaggerated, but Seara had a gut feeling that he and Leia would do exactly that if they were given a chance.

***

Asher left with fourteen alphas and a few thousand warriors for the Grand Sturm City. They defended the area as if their life depended on it. This city was their last defense, because once the Quantum Protocol could get through them, it would be easy to wipe them out.

On the third day Asher left, they got their signal back; they managed to fix it, and Seara was crying when she heard Zade’s voice again.

She tried to stop herself from crying, but she couldn’t do it, because her heart ached so badly. She missed him like crazy and wanted to be with him.

"It’s okay... I am only a few hours away from the Grand Sturm city. I will see you in a few hours," Zade said in his soothing tone.

In the background, Seara could hear Caspian’s voice; he must be on the phone with Leia, and she was glad that he was fine. Leia must be thrilled right now to receive his phone call.

Currently, Seara occupied one of the rooms in the children’s unit. Since the pack house had been flattened to the ground, Jared prepared another accommodation, but she chose to stay in the hospital and helped with whatever she could.

It was insane to think there was one point when she hated being in the hospital, but now she chose to be here rather than anywhere else.

"I will be there in less than a day."

"Okay." Seara wiped her tears and listened to his voice, but suddenly the signal disappeared again. She tried to make a call, but it didn’t go through.

She was upset and wanted to throw the phone across the room but caught herself in time. She was being too impulsive.

She also felt frustrated with herself for wasting their precious phone call on tears. Why did she behave like such a baby the moment she heard his voice? She hadn’t cried for days, not even when Tansy confronted her and slapped her.

Yet, the moment she heard Zade’s voice, her tears couldn’t stop falling like a broken faucet. Ugh.

Seara wiped her face roughly. It was night already, and the children’s voices had died down. Richie and Susan must have put them to bed while Leigh and Lidya were preparing dinner.

This hospital building was rather quiet after most of the staff left and the injured people healed. The second floor was completely abandoned now since they didn’t use it.

Sybill appeared again when Seara got out of bed; she frowned at her, as if she wanted to say something, but she couldn’t.

"What is it?" Seara furrowed her brows; she didn’t understand what Sybill was trying to say, but it hit her.

The dreadful feeling—that she hadn’t felt for weeks. She felt it again now. This feeling was getting stronger, indicating the person was getting closer.
