Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 2: Marry me for six months
Sienna gracefully tucked her hair behind her ear and stood up, "I was merely pressing our lips to make it look like a kiss. Why did you involve tongue?"
Callahan paused, and frowned, "To make it look convincing."
"Hah... Or were you trying to take advantage of the chance so you can mock me later?" Sienna glared at him, "Don’t I know it by now... If there was a pit and I was walking by, not only would you not warn me, but you would go out of your way to push me into it. And then you’d record and stamp it all over the tabloids to humiliate me!"
Callahan raised a brow, "I’m ashamed but you know me too well."
"I’m disgusted but yes, I do."
"Then, you must know that under no circumstances, I can fulfill your dream of becoming my wife."
Sienna’s face turned ashen. She had said those words without a care outside but now, she got goosebumps.
Becoming this devil’s wife? It wasn’t a dream she had ever entertained in her life! Until recently.
Callahan placed the magazine down and looked at her, "So, was it a new prank? Or have you developed some peculiar interest in entertainment industry?"
"No," Sienna said without hesitation, ignoring his jabs, "I am serious. Marry me for six months."
"Why should I marry you for six months, Miss Qing?" Callahan asked.
"You are in love with Olive Ivers, your grandfather’s secretary and the whole world knows that. But she has always kept a distance from you, hasn’t she?"
Callahan paused, a deep looking flashing across his eyes.
Sienna wasn’t looking at him so she missed it, "But I can see that she is interested in you. It’s just that you belong from two different worlds, which would explain why she restrains herself."
"And how would marrying you help her open up to me?"
Sienna picked a glass of water and took a small sip, "Right now, she has no sense of threat. If you marry me, she would have the feeling of losing you. Then, you need to play your cards right and when we divorce in six months, she wouldn’t risk losing you again.’’
"And what’s in it for you?"
"To claim the family inheritance, I need a husband."
Callahan looked at her deeply, "You have thought it through but Miss Qing, are you forgetting that you are my brother’s girlfriend?"
Silence descended in the suite and Sienna’s grip tightened around the glass in her hands.
"We broke up,’’ Sienna said after a moment of silence.
Callahan fell silent and she did not not explain the whys or hows of the breakup.
"But he still remains my brother. Before approaching me, did you not think of the possibility that I wouldn’t ruin my relations with him by dating his ex-girlfriend?"
Sienna crossed her legs as she met his gaze, "I am giving it a thought now and I see where you come from. But I won’t back out."
"Why?"
"You are the best option, Callahan. You can’t stand me and I hate your guts. If I have to do this marriage thing with anyone, it would be yous," Sienna smiled, putting the glass of water down, "Knowing us, we would remain out of each other’s hair for 6 months, while reaping the right benefits of this marriage..."
Her words were yet to finish when the man suddenly rose to his feet.
He turned around and walked towards the door.
Sienna’s smile dropped slightly, ’He is turning me down?’
The man stopped and looked over his shoulder, "Tomorrow. 10 am. Civil Affairs Bureau."
"You agree to it?" She rose to her feet.
The corner of his lips lifted slightly, making him look even more charming but in a devious way, "Since you cannot wait to be my wife, I won’t make you wait." He repeated the words she had uttered earlier.
Sienna smiled even as a vein twitched in her forehead, ’This jerk...’
Nevertheless, she held it in. In reality, she had expected Callahan to give her hell over this.
But surprisingly, he was very docile and he agreed to it so easily. She couldn’t risk ruining it.
The next day.
Sunlight streaked through the gap between the dark curtains, caressing Sienna’s face.
She covered her face and turned to the other side to continue sleeping.
But right then, her doorbell started ringing.
