"Our marriage might be a deal but beyond that, you didn’t have to do all that. You did not have to fire the staff at my apartment. You could have stayed out of the mess in the annual event too. You didn’t have to show up there and stand up for me..." Sienna looked at her palms that rested on her lap.

At first, she never thought she would say these words to Callahan.

But she did not know what he was thinking. And she wanted to let him know her true thoughts.

"You didn’t have to remember my birthday, or the cake, or the cloakroom. In fact..." Sienna paused, "I overheard what your grandfather said that night."

Callahan turned to her.

"I was selfish when I proposed marriage to you, knowing my ex-boyfriend is your brother. And still, I have no regrets," Sienna smiled, "And surprisingly, you have never held it against me."

"So... I just wanted to thank you,’’ she looked at him.

Callahan got up from the couch and walked inside the washroom.

Sienna’s shoulders slumped slightly but in the next second, the bathroom door opened and the man walked out with a first aid box in his hand.

Sitting beside her, he grabbed her hand and carefully cleaned the small cuts before he gently applied ointment over.

Sienna sucked in a cold breath, "Ah..."

Callahan paused, leaned closer and blew onto her skin as he applied the ointment again.

The burning sensation faded slowly. When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of his head as he fully leaned over towards her.

The man’s long eyelashes cast a soft shadow on his cheeks. His eyes were slightly narrowed. He looked so serious, as if it wasn’t her hand, but rather some top notch business deal that he was dealing with.

"How is the view?" The man lifted his head and met her gaze.

Having been caught staring at him, she did not look away, "It was okay."

Callahan glanced at her hands and then at her face, "The food was delicious but in the future, find other ways to thank me."

Sienna laughed and the atmosphere lightened, "Took you long to praise my culinary skills."

Suddenly, something came to her mind and her face turned solemn, "I met Olive earlier. She was the one who brought me to her office. Maybe, I should have talked to you before showing up because we hadn’t planned this." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"It’s fine."

"No, you don’t get it," Sienna sighed, "We need to plan it right if you want to make things work with her. Although I said we are going to make your dream girl jealous, it would not be worth it if you make her misunderstand to the point she goes into her shell. But it’s another thing that Olive did not show any reactions at all. She looks so easygoing but surprisingly, she hides her emotions well..."

"Maybe, we can..." Sienna suddenly thought of something and she stood up to share the idea.

But in the rush, her heel twisted slightly and her body fell backwards. She instinctively closed her eyes to brace for the fall.

Suddenly, a strong arm wrapped around her waist and in the next moment, she felt hard muscles against her back as she fell on Callahan’s lap, "We can’t," the man’s breath caressed the nape of her neck.

"W-What?" Sienna was in a daze and his words barely registered in her mind.

"I’m a married man, Mrs. Hawke. I am not going to pursue anyone other than my..."

"My grandson is capable and focused. Naturally, he would have a solution to the problems you pose..." The door to the office room opened.

Old Master Hawke had stepped inside with two men following him, and there was Leon who entered half a second later.

One second, they were all looking towards the office desk and in the next second, they turned to the side. And suddenly, silence descended in the office room.

All of them stood frozen at the entrance like ice statues, the men had their eyes bulging while the expression on Old Master Hawke’s face was unreadable. Behind them, Leon’s shoulder shook as he tried to hold back his laughter and mouthed to Callahan ’I texted you to warn you!’.

Sienna suddenly snapped to her senses and recovered from her shock, feeling all the blood in her system rushing to her face.

She got up from Callahan’s lap at once.

"Careful," Callahan supported her by her arm, without a flinch on his face.

Sienna greeted under five seconds and left the place without looking back.

Meanwhile, Callahan looked completely unfazed and unhurried as he smoothened his tie and stood up.

Old Master Hawke turned to the men behind him, "Leon, take the gentlemen for a tour around the office."

The moment Leon and the men stepped out of the place, the walls nearly rattled as if a vicious earthquake had struck the place as the old master’s voice boomed across the entire floor, "You insolent brat!"

The three people exchanged a quiet glance and felt it was wise to leave the floor

Inside the office room, Old Master Hawke glared at the audacity of the man who was running his fingers through his air, "Do you even listen to the advice of this old man or do you treat my words like background music?!"

Callahan paused, fixing his hair for a moment and looked at the old man from above his shoulder, "Grandfather, you don’t have that much of a pleasant voice."

Translation: So no, your words are not treated like advice and they do not even make the cut for background music.

The Old Master was so enraged that his face turned crimson from the fury!

It was past 10 pm by the time Sienna’s car pulled up in Magnolia Crest and after screaming and feeling embarrassed the entire way, she was genuinely tired.

Since she was out of there, dealing with his grandfather was Callahan’s problem now.
