Chapter 74: Who is Sienna’s husband?

Sienna and Flora exchanged a brief glance. After knowing that the town’s representative was Alex’s grandfather, they had already given up any ideas of convincing the man further.

They never expected the old man to take the initiative and approach them to talk about it.

Flora hesitated, "Sir, you mean..."

"We had a meeting this morning. We agree to do business with you."

After the old man left, the girls hugged each other, beaming.

Sienna felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around. Seeing Callahan, she threw herself in his arms, "We got the deal!"

Callahan was stunned.

Flora’s jaw dropped. She closed her eyes and ears and slowly slid away from the scene.

Sienna snapped to her senses and pulled back.

Callahan touched the tip of her nose, "You... look like a Cheshire cat who got a fish."

Sienna cleared her throat, "This deal will nearly reduce half the expenses after all."

Later that afternoon, when it was time for them to leave, the entire town had surrounded the black Maybach.

"It’s a gift from all of us," The elder presented a box to Sienna.

Sienna thanked the man and nodded at everyone, "Sir, where is Alex?"

"He..." the old man looked around, "He is probably caught up in something."

Sienna nodded. She had just turned to leave when Alex showed up, "Wait."

Leon hurriedly inched closer to Callahan, "See don’t you think he is dressed in a rather flamboyant red? It’s fine if he is here to say goodbye, why look like a vixen?"

Callahan narrowed his eyes.

"I went to check on your car. It’s terribly damaged..." Alex sighed.

"I expected it," Sienna felt it was such a pity but considering yesterday’s situation, she was relieved that they were all safe and sound.

"Thank you for everything."

"You cannot show sincerity with just a thanks, Little Snow,’’ the man said.

"If you stop using that nickname, I might thank you twice by treating you to a meal the next time we meet," Sienna sighed softly.

Alex stepped back from her, "Alright, I will take your word for it."

Feeling an icy gaze on himself, Alex looked at a little distance where Callahan was standing. His eyes turned cold.

Callahan’s lips tugged up in a casual smile as he opened the car door, shielding Sienna’s head as she entered the car.

In a private restaurant room.

"You finally have some results," Kira crossed her legs, "I was starting to doubt your good reputation."

The person sitting opposite her was a man in his early 30s, dressed in plain clothes, "I have never failed in any of my jobs before but... your sister is no easy person."

"What do you mean?" Kira narrowed her eyes.

"I have been tailing her for so long yet I could never make it to her destination. I lost sight of her before that. That was..."

"Speak clearly," Kira frowned.

The man sighed, "That was the case when she used her own car but in the past few weeks, once or twice, I spotted her in a mysterious black maybach."

"I tried to tail after them but I lost them in barely a few minutes. The number plate isn’t ordinary, it’s one that can be used only by the most powerful people so it’s not commonly listed,’’ the man wiped his sweat, "I can’t continue with this job..."

"I will pay you double the decided amount," Kira smiled, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes, "You must find me the information of who is inside that car."

"D-Double?" The private investigator stuttered.

Kira gasped, "Is it less? Let’s make it triple then."

"I... I..." The man stood up and bowed, "I will see it done."

Once he left, Kira’s smile dropped.

When she arrived at the Qing Mansion, Beth rushed over and dragged her daughter to her room.

"Where were you? Do you know today..."

"That slut!" Kira swept a lamp off the bedside table, "Why won’t she stop being a thorn in my eyes? The more I want her gone, the more she pricks me!"

Kira tugged off her blouse, clutching her neck as she panted.

"Kira!" Beth’s eyes widened. She hurriedly looked around and locked the door before rushing to her daughter’s side, "What happened? Tell mother clearly."

"It’s that slut again. She has clearly found herself a backer!" Kira explained everything to her mother.

Beth frowned, "She owns nearly half the shares of the Qing Empire. How many men in Amethyst City can be her backer? It doesn’t make sense... Could it be her husband?"

"Her husband?" Kira grabbed the woman’s arms, "Initially, I thought she got married just for the inheritance. But, could she be playing the long game by securing a powerful backing, a man who can sponsor her and fulfill her whims?"

Beth stood up, "Get up first. Remember to not lose your grace again," she reprimanded Kira lightly.

"I just..."

"That girl remained composed in the face of her mother’s death, never shouting or screaming. And you... might become the reason for my death,’’ Beth chided.

"Mom..." Kira whined, "Think of it. If she is not doing something shady, why has she hidden her husband till now? Are we going to let her take away 49% shares?!"

"Shh, lower your voice!" Beth pulled Kira to the window, far from the door, "Don’t mention it right now."

"You are not worried but I am. She is holding back because Dad is in charge. When I become the CEO, she will dangle her shares above my neck like a sword!"

Beth stroked her chin, "We cannot touch her shares without finding her husband. Her bitch of a mother left a loophole in her will. If Sienna loses her marriage during this time, she would lose those shares too."

"But nobody knows who her husband is. Her mother’s attorney, Vincent, who verified the authenticity of her marriage is a tough nut to crack."

"It’s fine. Since she won’t bring her husband to us, we can take him to her," Beth leaned over and whispered something in Kira’s ears.
