Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 79: Who is pampering the Vice President?
Since she was the chairman’s secretary, she had a special position in the company.
Seeing her walk over to the delivery guy, everyone was bewildered.
"Is it for her?"
"Shh... Could the rumors be true?"
"You mean... the Vice President and her...?"
"Lower your voice!"
Grace glanced at the flowers and the black diamond package, "During office hours, we don’t allow—"
"Miss Ivers!"
Everyone turned, only to see Leon out of the VIP elevator.
The people were all bewildered. What’s happening? Why was a single package summoning all important people in the office?
Although Leon was Callahan’s driver and assistant, who didn’t know that the voice president and his driver were joined at the hips, inseparable at all times?
Grace turned to him with a small frown on her face, "Is it yours? According to the rules..."
Leon cleared his throat.
"Are you Mr. Callahan Hawke?" The delivery guy approached the man, "Please sign it here."
There was pin drop silence.
"I am his assistant..." Leon cleared his throat and signed his name before he received the packages.
There was still pin drop silence.
Leon nodded at a stunned Grace before he left.
The crowd exploded in bursts of whispers and murmurs.
"It’s for the Vice President? Our Vice President?!"
"How many Callahan Hawkes do you know in the city?"
"But... He... How could he receive flowers?"
"Didn’t you see that viral gossip before it was taken down? It’s not our Vice President’s first time receiving flowers anyway!"
"What do you mean? A famous socialite gave him roses and proposed to him some time ago..."
"Sigh... Where is the petal guy who said he hasn’t received a flower petal since birth? Are you the same as our Vice President?!"
"Vice President has received not just a petal but a whole bouquet and that too with diamonds."
"Shush, who do you think is pampering him like this?"
Leon had just placed the flowers in Callahan’s office when the door to the office room opened.
"Hey, hey, somebody clearly wrapped his meeting early today!" Leon teased, bending over to peek at the man’s expressions.
There was an undeniable shine in Callahan’s eyes as he glanced at the flowers.
Suddenly, he frowned and examined the bouquet closely.
"What’s wrong?"
"Don’t you know how to handle them carefully?" Callahan shot him a deadly look.
Leon pointed at himself, eyes wide in disbelief. Then he glanced at the bouquet. In a way that was barely noticeable, a few petals of hydrangea had fallen off on the desk.
"Not only are you ungrateful, you are heartless too! Aye, what good brother of mine!" Leon sulked and stomped out of the office, feeling extremely single for the first time in his life.
In the office, nothing seemed to be capable of dampening Callahan’s mood. There were auspicious clouds and gentle spring flowing all around.
He picked up the black box in one hand and in the other, he checked the text on his phone.
[Sienna: I have sent something for you. Show me how it looks on you, okay?]
The corner of his lips tugged up as he twirled the box in his hand.
Callahan placed his phone down and opened the box, revealing a pair of classic emerald cut cufflinks. After wearing them, he picked his phone and clicked a picture of his hand before sending it to Sienna.
A few seconds passed and the man started pacing in the office room, closely examining the picture.
’Ding’
[Sienna: A delicate gift for a delicate person. Isn’t that befitting?]
He could almost hear her teasing tone through the phone.
Callahan’s smile widened as he replied: Then, thank you for your great care. I will be counting on you in the future.
He hesitated for a moment then sent a red heart.
Callahan held his breath when he saw her typing.
[Sienna: Don’t worry, I will take good care of you~ *three red hearts*]
Leon had just returned to the office room when he let out a startled gasp, "Ah, what happened to your face? Why are you red? What were you doing alone here?"
"Scram!"
...
Kira lounged comfortably in her office at Qing Grand, scrolling through her iPad with little regard for the growing stack of documents on her desk.
The quarterly reports, supplier contracts, and project proposals could wait. None of them was nearly as interesting as the collection of dress designs displayed on her screen.
"Julie."
Her secretary, who had been standing beside the desk for several minutes with a folder in her arms, immediately straightened, "Ma’am?"
"Find someone to handle those files."
Julie glanced at the documents before hesitating, "Ma’am, some of them require your personal approval. If we delegate everything, the higher-ups might raise objections during the next review. They tend to nitpick even the smallest details, and—"
"If I have to spend my time dealing with every trivial matter, what exactly are we paying them for?"
Kira didn’t even look up from her iPad, "Find someone capable and have them handle these things."
"But, Ma’am—"
"That’s all."
Julie could only swallow the rest of her words, collect the documents, and leave the office.
The moment the door closed, Kira returned to the dress designs.
Her mood was exceptionally great.
With her upcoming engagement and the great surprise she had prepared for her sister, nothing could ruin her mood for the entire month.
With that, she decided to get off and go for the fitting of the gown today.
Kira had barely stepped outside when Julie came hurrying back, "Ma’am!"
Kira stopped, her brows drawing together, "What now?"
"There’s a situation at the entrance. You must come with me..."
Kira was on the verge of losing patience but she forced a sweet smile, "Lead the way and tell me what it is about."
Julie glanced anxiously toward the elevators before lowering her voice, "There’s a guest who insists on meeting you personally. She says she’s lost her belongings and needs your help. We tried explaining the check-in procedures, but she refuses to leave without speaking to you."
By the time they reached the entrance of Qing Grand, several employees had gathered nearby, exchanging curious glances.
