Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 484: But If We’re Far From Home
[FROLO]
President Boris was not feeling well.
It wasn’t even a lie.
He had been at Aslava Hospital for a week now.
And of course the communication had not divulged that.
Not that they could exactly tell the city that the president was admitted to the hospital because he was desperate for his alpha’s scent and Zhenya had refused to give it to him; hence, he was being treated for depression.
They couldn’t even let the city know that the president and Zhenya had been seeing each other for twenty years and that they had been through life for the better part of their adulthood together.
It was the one thing no one had the guts to spell out.
When Zhenya had heard that the president was hospitalized and begging for his scent, Zhenya had said he wasn’t the president’s mate.
That he wasn’t the president’s wife.
And that if the president wanted to get better, he needed to lean more toward his wife and stop asking ridiculous requests to the head of his security.
It was the one thing that had shocked the doctors, especially those who for over twenty years had seen Zhenya bring the president to the hospital and Zhenya take care of everything.
They had walked in on Zhenya kissing the president more than enough times to let them know that the alpha and the beta had a thing.
And of course the hospital figured the two had fought and were now trying their best to keep the president steady.
Zhenya should have gone to even stand as his security. But he had declined. Instead, Zhenya had assigned Tyler Blackwater for the post.
His instructions?
"You’ve always had the hots for the president. I’m sure if he asks you to sleep with him, you won’t mind. After all, he is a beta, and you are an alpha, no?
"Keep him occupied and make sure he forgets about me or whatever the fuck people do after they cheat," Zhenya had said.
And Tyler, terrified of Zhenya becoming his houseguest again, had agreed.
His crush on the president would have made it easier for him to approach the president.
But every step he took, every look he gave the president reminded him of how easily Zhenya Levin had choked the life out of him.
Tyler wasn’t exactly ready to die anytime soon. Which was why he dedicated himself to being the security personnel along with a few others.
He would not act on his crush on the president.
He was not going to try and eat where Zhenya ate because Zhenya was not the person he was trying to get to.
He was the most dangerous man Tyler had interacted with face to face.
And so, with Tyler at the hospital with the president, Zhenya had returned to the palace.
Which was now down thanks to the Myrtles and the four RPGs they’d launched at the presidential palace.
Zhenya had so many questions, but the first one...
"How the fuck did you get past all that security to even reach this gate with all of that? What the fuck?" he asked genuinely, clearly not liking the task that he had now.
The soldiers were terrified as the presidential palace burned thanks to these nutjobs.
People were screaming as they rushed out to safety, their clothes on fire while Rastenkin stared amusedly.
"Is Boris inside? Or is he still at Aslava?" Rastenkin asked casually, and Sergei snorted at that.
Zhenya looked at the man, then at Sergei, who raised his hand in surrender as if to say this was not his idea.
It was diabolical, really, how everyone around the Devil of Frolo was a few screws too loose in their heads.
It was as if they had collectively decided to eliminate whatever Sergei needed eliminated as long as it contributed to Sergei going home sooner to Katya.
That was their only directive.
Help Sergei clear the path home.
Didn’t matter who they took out or how they took them out.
As long as they were standing between Sergei and home, they had to be eliminated.
And the presidential palace had been the emergence of some of the most unhinged days that Sergei had gone through. They had seen the man deteriorate and decided to deal with the palace themselves.
"I came with nuts, boss, want some?" Reeves asked as he reached into his pocket and pulled a neon paper filled with nuts.
"Sure," Sergei said, reaching for the packet.
"I want some too," Rastenkin said, and soon it was a group of seven people hassling a packet of nuts like it was what they needed at the moment.
The soldiers who had surrounded them earlier just stared helplessly.
Stuck between going inside and helping their fellow soldiers and the people who were burning, and letting the mad crew bickering over a packet of found nuts go.
"We called the fire department. They should be here soon," Elara said to the soldiers who were watching in defeat.
As if that was supposed to make them feel better about what they were dealing with.
It was crazy how this group had probably turned the hierarchy of the realm upside down and were casually munching on nuts in one hand and had their weapons in the other hand.
"I hear the sirens; step to the side, guys," Meera said, and the snipers and the Myrtles stepped aside to let the fire engine pass.
The firemen had been so ready to go through... then they saw Sergei and his men there.
And as they suddenly remembered life was too important to deal with Sergei Moskowsky, the firemen turned the engine siren off and got ready to back off and drive away.
"Hold on, guys, we are not killing you today... But since you came for a fire, hold on. I’ve always wanted to try something," Rastenkin said casually as he put his nuts in the pocket of his pants.
He pulled two explosives from his vest.
The soldiers stepped back, horror on their faces as they watched the Shopkeeper with two explosives at hand.
This man was not to be trusted.
This man was dangerous.
This man was here.
This man wanted blood.
Fuck.
"Those are not for you; just step aside," Sergei said, as if he were telling them they didn’t need to get involved and were to let Rastenkin do what he wanted.
The soldiers stared at Zhenya, the chief of security, who was just standing there tiredly. He looked like he had far better things to do than deal with this.
He watched helplessly as Rastenkin threw the two explosives inside the palace, not caring that one of them fell a little too close to the people who were running away. Didn’t care that these people were blown to bits.
As if that was not enough, Meera opened the RPG bag she was carrying. And fired one onto the palace again. Much to everyone’s horror.
"Meera?!" Sergei and the others sighed tiredly.
"What in the fuck, Mahin?!!" Rastenkin grumbled as he stared at Meera, who just shrugged.
"Well, they came to put out the fire, and I gave them fire. Besides, you threw extra explosives in!" Meera pointed out, and Sergei snorted.
"Guys, you can go in now. My team and I will wait here. We kinda need a lift to Aslava to go see the president," Sergei said casually, like that was all he could offer the traumatized firemen.
