[FROLO]

Patience was a conditional virtue for the Moskowsky team.

The moment the ambulances arrived, they got into the first one and shipped themselves out, especially when the driver stared at them, too shocked to move.

They had not expected a free ride, but maybe, just maybe, it would have been a better idea for the ambulance driver to drive instead of Rastenkin. Because they were being moved around like sacks of potatoes.

Sergei had a thousand and one regrets for volunteering to sit in the back, talking about how he had never really been a patient and that the last time had been at the back of an ambulance when he had been following his Solnyshka to the hospital.

This was his way of making better memories of the ambulance.

But well...

Maybe he should have just sat in the front.

"Are you guys alright back there?" Rastenkin asked when they got to a traffic stop, and he turned to look at them, almost forgetting that he was in the driver’s seat.

Elara, who was in the passenger seat, just laughed at the grumbling bunch in the back. It was the kind of sight that didn’t happen daily.

And when they got moving again, the grumbles and grunts resumed, much to Rastenkin’s displeasure and Elara’s delight.

"Unthankful young people. Do you know how hard it is for me to sit behind the wheel after nine years?" Rastenkin complained, and the team just grunted a little lower, while they got an entire lecture.

"Maybe you should consider using a wheelchair? That is the only thing that suits you best. At least if you drive like that and you die, you die alone!" Sergei complained, and Rastenkin swerved out of spite for the kid lecturing him.

"Old men and their tantrums," Sergei added, and their driver swerved again, much to everyone’s not-so-graceful transport.

It didn’t help that the sirens were still blaring, so anyone who saw the ambulance could easily assume that there was a critical patient being transported.

"Keep talking, and I will send you to the moon goddess myself," Rastenkin laughed evilly at the front.

Sergei was about to complain again when Rahim grabbed the nuts that she had been eating from the hassle earlier and shoved them into Sergei’s mouth.

Sergei glared at her, and she moved seats, but everyone else was busy laughing at the sight before them.

This was the kind of madness they had been having once upon a time, back when Sergei didn’t have a soul, when he had nothing to care for other than the very beautiful desire to eliminate everything that had hurt his son.

And now, he was having quite the day, really. This was a heaven for them because at least they were fighting for something better and not just revenge.

They were fighting for home.

Sergei thankfully stayed silent the entire ride.

Maybe because he was too busy chewing the nuts and Rahim had been offering him as if it was the greatest apology for that. But then again, the drive had gotten a little less chaotic, which was a little fun.

Well, until they got to a speed bump and instead of Rastenkin slowing down, he maintained his speed, making them jump in the back.

"I am going to report you to Anya!" Sergei said, and Rastenkin just laughed before adding, "We’re here, kids, time to look the part!"

They had reached the hospital.

The heavily guarded hospital.

The hospital that no one had been expecting them in.

When the back of the ambulance was opened, the Myrtles and the secretaries came out looking nothing like the idiots who were bickering.

Sergei, for one, didn’t even have his katana anymore.

If anything, he had an emotionless face as he led the way and his team followed him in. They didn’t have any weapons on them either, which should have been comforting given the fact that they were dressed like normal people.

They didn’t have any protective gear on, and it was way easy to assume that they had simply come to see someone they cared about here.

And they did... right?

Besides, President Boris wasn’t exactly their enemy, right?

Oh, Sergei.

"We are here to visit a patient," Sergei said, tone flat, posture bored, eyes lazy like he was one bad breath away from snapping someone’s neck.

The security guard stared at him and the people behind him.

Instead of checking them for any weapons, he just stood stiffly there.

"Fuck it, we are getting late. Get in line," Reeves said, grabbing the scanner from one of the security guards and scanning the Myrtles and even Sergei one by one.

Once they had gotten in, Reeves handed the scanner to Meera, who scanned him, then he got in.

The security guard didn’t even need to be told that they had no weapons, because they had clearly scanned themselves.

But was that supposed to be any comforting when they didn’t even pass by reception and made their way directly to the private wards?

No one in their right mind ever clocked into work hoping to see the Devil of Frolo and his six mad men and women at their place of work.

It wasn’t hard to find where the president was at, and the moment Sergei turned the corner, they were met with Tyler Blackwater and a group of security personnel attached to the president.

It was quite the sight.

At the far end was Zhenya Levin.

He had long arrived here when they were bickering over nuts back there.

"You should have just offered us a lift instead of leaving us at the hands of a lunatic," Sergei grumbled, and Rastenkin smacked the back of his head.

"I was a good driver, you little shit," Rastenkin huffed.

"I’m still telling on you to Anya. Let’s see what she decides," Sergei said, as if that was to make the atmosphere light.

The six operatives didn’t mind it.

They had seen far worse than Rastenkin and Sergei bickering.

If anything, this was just a more normal day for them, and they were not bothered.

"Put your weapons down, guys; we are coming through either way. You can either step to the side and let us pass, or we can go right through all of you, which will take us like five minutes.

"There are twelve of you, and seven of us. One for each and six for our boss since he is a little grumpy today. So what will it be?" Volkov said to the security.

Tyler stared at him and then at Sergei before turning to Zhenya Levin, who was staring boredly.

"You’re not coming through; this is a private ward," Tyler insisted.

Sergei sighed.

"Okay, at least we chose peace, and you decided to act like assholes," Rastenkin said, and the Myrtles got into position.

"Shall we?" Meera asked excitedly, and soon the fight began between Sergei’s six operatives and the men in the corridor.

All that time, Sergei’s eyes had stayed locked on Zhenya Levin.

The chief of security here.

He knew Zhenya was just doing his job, but Sergei needed answers directly from President Boris. He needed to make sure the president took back the deal he had given Aleksandr.

It wasn’t even going to be a long discussion, depending on whether the president cooperated or not.

If he didn’t, Sergei would kill Boris today.

Zhenya could already see that.

But perhaps it would be more fun to wait and see, right?
