Chapter 210: Chapter 207: She can only die at my hands

The entrance below the building was completely sealed off. Multiple layers of heavy rolling shutter doors had been lowered.

Not wanting to waste time, Chen Xing gathered all her strength and kicked them open.

The Lizard Monsters that had been drawn by the noise Chen Xing made saw the doors open, but not a single one followed her inside. Instead, they scattered as if fleeing from something, turning to find other prey.

The elevator was running normally, so Chen Xing rode it straight to the masked man’s floor.

It was an empty room, completely bare from one end to the other.

And the masked man was still standing ramrod straight at the window, facing out.

’Chen Xing had no idea where this man got his confidence.’

To be safe, she didn’t rush forward, instead remaining at the elevator entrance.

"Did you lure me in here on purpose?"

The masked man turned around after a moment. His hideous mask betrayed no emotion.

The colors in his eyes, however, were surprisingly expressive.

"The last time we met, you nearly died in the Research Institute in Hualai City. I can’t believe you’d dare to come back. Aren’t you afraid the same thing will happen again? You won’t be lucky enough to have Song Yiguo save you every time," he said, his voice ice-cold.

Chen Xing felt as if a bucket of ice had been dumped over her head.

"What makes you so sure I don’t have a way to save myself?"

’With the Jiezhi Space Nightingale had given her, she wasn’t worried in the slightest. If things got truly dangerous, she would definitely use it.’

The masked man clasped his hands behind his back and leisurely surveyed the empty room. "Doesn’t this place look familiar to you?"

Chen Xing scanned the room, her brows knitting slightly.

’It was just an empty room. It didn’t feel familiar in the slightest.’

"A pity you can’t remember it. This place will be blown to bits in three minutes! Remember it, because you’ll figure it out sooner or later!" With that, the masked man suddenly made an explosive sound. A thin mist rose, and he instantly vanished from the empty room.

’Chen Xing didn’t believe for a second that he also had a Jiezhi Space.’

She ran to the window and examined it carefully.

’Last time, he had escaped through the wall.’

Sure enough, she found a secret passage in the wall beside the window.

Looking down into the secret passage, she couldn’t see the bottom.

Without much hesitation, Chen Xing jumped in.

It had been almost three minutes since the masked man had vanished; she couldn’t risk staying any longer.

She fell quickly, not daring to slow her descent, willing herself to fall faster.

Just as she was about to reach the bottom, she drew her blade and pressed it against the wall to break her fall, landing smoothly on the ground.

Just then, an explosion boomed from above.

’It seemed he was dead accurate. Exactly three minutes.’

’That psycho!’

’Chen Xing figured everyone at the Research Institute was a psycho.’

’Blowing up a perfectly good building just like that!’

’Then again...’

’They flattened a city as large as Hualai City just because they felt like it. What’s one building in comparison?’

She passed through a narrow tunnel that ended at a flimsy-looking security door.

Chen Xing sent it flying with a single punch.

Inside was a finely furnished corridor with shock-absorbent walls on both sides.

At the end of the corridor was an electronic door.

To Chen Xing’s surprise, there was an access card right next to the door.

’This... is very strange.’

’It’s as if the masked man deliberately wanted her to go in.’

’But... it wasn’t like there was anywhere she wouldn’t dare to go.’

Chen Xing picked up the access card and went through the electronic door.

To avoid attracting attention, she slipped on a white lab coat that was hanging by the door.

Once she had the lab coat on, people who passed by paid her no mind.

She reached a residential area without any trouble.

However, it seemed the residents of this so-called "ordinary" residential area were either rich or powerful; their status was clearly high.

The houses here were built like pre-apocalypse villas.

The houses were spaced far apart, with spacious yards and manicured lawns.

There were ornamental trees and rockeries, making it feel just like the outside world. The only thing missing was a blue sky overhead.

Chen Xing was in no mood to admire the scenery; she was in a hurry to find the masked man.

But that wasn’t going to be easy.

As she was making her way through the residential area, she suddenly sensed something stealthily approaching.

The sound was faint, but its speed was anything but slow.

Chen Xing dodged and simultaneously swung her blade in a backhanded strike.

A long tentacle recoiled sharply as if it had been burned.

As the tentacle retracted, Hao Wenli appeared behind her with a group of people. "Chen Xing, you must have a death wish, running all the way here just to die!"

’She hated her so much. She loathed her!’

’She wanted to slice her into a thousand pieces.’

’Why did everyone have to revolve around Chen Xing?’

’The boss was like that...’

’Her friends were like that...’

’Even her parents were like that...’

’Was she... was she born just to be Chen Xing’s foil?’

’She refused to accept it!’

’Even if it meant defying orders, she would kill Chen Xing today!’

Chen Xing had been wondering how to find her, and here she was.

Hao Wenli preferred it this way. She no longer had to pretend to be friendly and get close to a person she clearly despised. "Don’t think I won’t dare to kill you just because everyone protects you! Today, I’ll show you what I’m capable of!"

Just as the two sides were about to clash, a cat’s meow suddenly sounded from down the road.

Cadar walked over, dressed in a cute set of Tom and Jerry pajamas.

She was holding a black cat in her arms.

The black cat’s fur stood on end, and it grew restless as it faced Chen Xing.

Seeing it was just a little girl, Hao Wenli didn’t give her a second glance. She rolled her eyes coldly. "You reckless little thing!" With that, she moved to attack Chen Xing.

But the black cat, as if enraged, broke free from Cadar’s arms and lunged, scratching at Hao Wenli’s forehead.

Hao Wenli blocked the black cat with one tentacle while her lower body rapidly morphed into a mass of tentacles.

The black cat was clearly at a disadvantage.

Its paw was gashed by one of Hao Wenli’s tentacles.

Seeing her beloved pet injured, Cadar looked as if she had been set on fire. A palpable rage began to emanate from her.

She stretched out a hand, and a circle of black shadow appeared beneath Hao Wenli’s feet.

It wasn’t so much a shadow as a Black Vortex, for it was already sucking at Hao Wenli’s tentacles.

Hao Wenli, who had just had the upper hand, was now completely immobilized.

Though her tentacles desperately gripped onto anything nearby, she was still being sucked into the Black Vortex.

Once she was halfway inside, she was completely at Cadar’s mercy.

Cadar gave a vicious smile, then clenched her fist and retracted her hand.

The Black Vortex, with Hao Wenli inside it, was pulled in front of Cadar.

"You dare hurt my precious? Tonight, you’re his midnight snack!" Cadar’s voice was still somewhat childish, but her words were utterly sinister.

It was as if feeding the black cat a "midnight snack" was a regular occurrence.

After meowing twice, the black cat pounced on Hao Wenli.

However, the woman who had been completely under her control was suddenly yanked free from Cadar’s grasp.

Chen Xing pulled back the rope in her hand, her face wearing its usual indifferent expression. "She dies by my hand, and my hand alone!"
