A turbid breath seemed to fill every corner of his lungs from his trachea in an instant. His eyes snapped open, and he sucked in a lungful of air as if he hadn't breathed in a lifetime, then sat bolt upright like a zombie. His vision swam as if countless noise particles were reassembling themselves.

He stared blankly ahead at the pristine white blanket and walls.

Thud—

The heavy sound of books and medicine bottles hitting the floor.

Lynn instinctively turned his head and stared blankly at the female Night Doctor nurse standing in the doorway, gaping at him in terror while holding a tray.

"Hey~"

He raised his hand absently and waved.

"Hey..."

The female Night Doctor responded stiffly, almost on reflex.

"..."

A brief, wordless silence hung between them.

The next moment.

A high-pitched scream erupted.

Then he watched as the nurse miss sprinted out of the room at breakneck speed, her shrill voice echoing through the entire corridor.

"Oh no! The corpse has risen!! The corpse has risen!!"

"Mr. Lynn! He's risen from the dead!!"

The explosive announcement practically reverberated throughout the entire convalescent home.

Lynn: "(O_O)?"

...

A few minutes later.

The therapy room that had been completely empty moments ago was now packed to the brim.

Besides the Elite Night Doctors and nurses responsible for monitoring his vital signs, Sir Aiwen, Colossus's Brain, Miaomiao, Miss Puppet—everyone he knew—and even Little One had squeezed her way in by sheer force.

And as for Lynn, who was supposed to be the one receiving visitors, the moment Little One had squeezed in, he found himself pressed flat against the stained-glass window, desperately trying to squirm free while gritting his teeth in exasperation.

"What are you all doing?! What are you all doing?! How am I supposed to fit all you divinities in this tiny little space?! Little One, you get out first—stop pushing your way in!! There's really no room left!!"

Little One strained mightily to shift her massive head, saying:

"I'm sorry—Doctor Brother—it's just that Little One is really, really happy—so when I heard that Doctor Brother had woken up—I got so excited that I absolutely had to come see you in person—"

Lynn gritted his teeth and raised his index finger, saying:

"Thank you, Little One, but first listen to Brother—can you head back out first? I just woke up, and I don't want to pass out again!"

Then he watched as the nurse lady sprinted out of the room at breakneck speed, her shrill voice echoing through the entire corridor.

*Puh—*

With another heavy shove from behind.

Lynn felt like his guts were about to be squeezed out of him, (ヾノ꒪ཫ꒪) as he was ground violently against the reinforced glass.

*Squeak squeak squeak—*

Although everyone's enthusiasm did genuinely move him to the brink of tears, he really didn't want this celebration feast to turn into a funeral within two minutes. He still wanted to see more of this world, he hadn't yet had any delightful experiences with his adorable loli sisters—being sent off in this manner was truly not a pleasant prospect!

"And also! That doctor over there! I don't know which department you're from, and I have to say I'm deeply touched by your attempt to stick me with needles and set up an IV even in this situation, but can we hold off for a bit? You haven't even gotten the IV in yet, and I'm already about to spray out everything I've got!"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Lynn! But this was specifically instructed by the Matriarch, so I really can't disobey—so how about you just hold it in for a little while? It'll only take one bag!"

Lynn felt like he was about to split apart.

But fortunately.

Lynn calmed down.

Although everyone's enthusiastic concern had a slight chance of sending him off prematurely, at least it wasn't entirely without benefits—for instance, his right hand was currently holding onto a cool, delicate little hand, the skin silky smooth—one touch and he knew it had to be Miss Puppet's hand.

Ah!

Indeed!

Miss Puppet had also been so concerned that she'd rushed over to see him at the first opportunity.

This showed that she still liked him—that his passionate, burning heart had warmed her interlocking gears and made her worry about him.

Besides the Elite Night Doctors and nurses responsible for monitoring his vital signs, Sir Aiwen, Colossus's Brain, Miaomiao, Miss Puppet—everyone he knew—and even Little One had squeezed her way in by sheer force.

Lynn leisurely scratched her palm.

"Miss Puppet, ヽ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ am I holding your hand? If so, please give me a warm little response!"

From over there came the Godweaver Head's sinister, gloomy voice.

"You're holding my hand."

Lynn froze.

Little One strained mightily to shift her massive head, saying:

"I couldn't squeeze in, so I manifested a hand to check your pulse. So stop gripping it so tightly, or I'll really force my way in there!"

"No (ΩДΩ)!!"

*Puh—*

A squelching sound.

...

Finally, half an hour later.

Lynn sat cross-legged on a temporary steel-frame bed set up in the open air, arms folded, eyes closed, his clothes in complete disarray, while the Night Doctor beside him kept trying to get a needle into him.

Little One said: "I'm—I'm sorry—but Little One can't move anymore either—Mommy is also pushing from behind—it's already—already really hard—"

"I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused everyone, and I truly thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concern during my coma. As for the gifts you've given me, I absolutely love them."

He reached out.

Picked up the most eye-catching item among the pile of gifts—a framed 24-inch grayscale charcoal sketch of himself—and held it close to his chest, saying with deep satisfaction:

"For instance, this gift is absolutely exquisite! It looks exactly like me! I can tell at a glance that a great deal of effort went into it, and I cherish it especially! Whether I hang it on a grave mound or hold it in my arms, it gives off such an unexpectedly peaceful vibe!"

Beside him, Little One (✪ω✪) said:

"Really—thank you, Brother—because Brother once said he liked practical things—so Little One specially prepared some in advance—that way, whether Brother woke up or not, it would still be useful—so Little One prepared it very carefully—"

Lynn was deeply moved and said:

"As expected of my little fiancée! You're absolutely amazing!"

[Ding! Little One's Affinity toward you +10]

And watching Lynn so full of vigor and vitality, Sir Aiwen's gaze softened, and the weight on his heart slowly lifted as well. Although he had no idea how Lynn had suddenly recovered from all his injuries, he was genuinely happy for him.

But his expression soon turned grave as he raised his head seriously and asked:

"Lynn, so what exactly happened?"

At these words, everyone's gaze fell upon him.

Because they still clearly remembered that day—in the plaza—how his Left Hand had practically collapsed while dragging his shattered, broken body, weeping and desperately crying out to everyone for help.

And they had never seen him wounded that severely before—as if he had lost all his self-healing abilities, and even the Origin of his consciousness had developed cracks.

Sir Aiwen said in a deep voice:

"Did you really transfer all of that backlash onto yourself?"
