Chapter 881 – Paperwork and happy Foxes

The duo seemed very fine, no, more than that. They seemed like they were getting along just fine.

This made Moon Aiko very happy, since these two were one of the oldest Foxes that she knew.

'There was that boom-boom Fox too...' Moon Aiko couldn't find them. Well, she spotted one of them in the rehabilitation zone, but it didn't seem like they wanted to talk with Aiko, so she quickly gave up on it.

'There will be a time when they won't mind me, but for now, plushies.' Moon Aiko nodded her head, but then she paused. 'Maybe I should help Mei speed things up?' She pondered for a while before deciding to do that. She wanted to see the sea and everything around it.

There was also a certain individual hiding nearby, but she could be left alone for the time being.

It seemed like she didn't like crowds too much as she would always disappear when Aiko entered the more crowded zones.

'It's fine, she is harmless.' Moon Aiko nodded her head. At worst, their food would disappear, but that should be fine.

"Mei~" Moon Aiko barged in, once again.

Mei sighed deeply, making Aiko stiffen her body.

"Yes?" Mei seemed tired.

"I'm here to help." Moon Aiko pointed at herself.

"Welcome to hell, population, 3 Foxes." Mei groaned.

"3? Where are the others?" Moon Aiko looked around, but she could only see piles upon piles of papers.

"Crushed by the papers. You can fish them out and wake them up, or you can help me with the paperwork." Mei gestured towards the seemingly 'empty' desks. Well, they were far from empty, as there was a mountain of paperworks on them, but she couldn't see any other Foxes.

"I will take the paperwork." Moon Aiko was not looking for games, so it would be better if she just did some work.

Sitting on the floor, she started to pick up those papers, sort them or fill them up as she saw fit.

"Please, don't cause more work to pile up." Mei was clearly tired.

"I have common sense." Moon Aiko rolled her eyes. It was obvious that when she was helping someone, she would do her best so that she wouldn't cause more work to pile up on them.

"..." Mei stared at Aiko speechlessly for a while, but she didn't say anything about her remark.

"You weren't kidding..." Moon Aiko was almost bleeding out from the amount of work they had to go through. "This is really hell..."

"Yeah, that's what happens when you don't keep the documents properly and when other managers are incompetent." Mei was sprawled in her chair like some homeless Fox. "If you ever get to work on something or set up an actual business, you have to absolutely make sure that the manager is competent, or you will die."

"Dully noted." Moon Aiko raised her hand as her head plopped on the table.

"But thanks to you, we didn't spend 3 weeks sorting and filling up these papers." Mei was very pleased with this outcome and slowly stood up, stretching her body.

"Should we go outside, it feels like the smell might kill us before the papers would." Moon Aiko complained.

"Even when you used your [Clean]?" Mei chuckled at her.

"That's the problem. I couldn't go all out since there were papers around." Moon Aiko narrowed her eyes, staring at Mei like she was wronged.

"..." Mei imagined what would happen if Aiko did that and almost died from it. "I'm thankful you didn't do that." She placed her hand on her chest, breathing in relief.

"It's fine, we can always scrap them later." Moon Aiko smirked. All papers should be burned for being so cumbersome!

"That won't do." Mei shook her head. "I will find some competent Foxes and let them manage everything so that I don't have to move."

"Why didn't you do that sooner?" Moon Aiko tilted her head.

"Building takes precedent over sorting things." Mei crossed her arms.

"When will it be finished?" Moon Aiko asked a rhetoric question, since it was difficult to answer it.

"In a few days." However, Mei was able to answer it with not much difficulty as those papers also described the progress of the continental flying ship.

"Honestly. This is probably one of the 10 largest flying ships in the Immortal World." Mei smacked her lips. She was quite pleased with the progress and quality... while on the lower side, since this continent lacked any rare materials, would be good enough to survive the journey at minimum.

"Those perverts?" Moon Aiko tilted her head. She wondered what they were doing for a brief moment, but she quickly shook her head. She definitely didn't want to know what those Twins were up to!

Moon Aiko and Mei left the room, slowly walking towards the rehabilitation zone.

The Foxes there seemed a bit more at ease, maybe because time progressed, but...

'So many plushies...' Moon Aiko groaned. Some of them carried it like backpacks on backs, others had it in even bigger or smaller versions.

"This is impressive." Mei couldn't remember when was the last time that she saw plushies in any shape or form.

Needless to say, most things in the Immortal World were overly serious and bleak. Fights broke out daily and millions died.

The only thing sustaining the Immortal World's population were the countless Mortal Worlds.

It was quite bad as when you ascended, you pretty much became the 'Qi Gathering Cultivator' once again.

"Is it?" Moon Aiko shook her head. She was happy that those Foxes seemed brighter, but the cost...!

"En. You won't find this sight, especially once you go higher." Mei shook her head.

"I think I'm quite strong." Moon Aiko puffed up her chest.

"For Human Cultivators, but if there was a larger skirmish over resources, we would have a hard time taking any." Mei shook her head.

"I believe you would be able to come up with some kind of plan while I would cause problems for them." Moon Aiko shrugged.

"I have never had to make plans around a single individual creating chaos everywhere." Mei laughed. She seemed more energetic, now that all paperwork was finished.

"We will soon leave..." Would Mei miss this place? Probably not. However, that was only because she knew that her sister was 'safe' with Aiko and not dead. She didn't need to dwell on past memories and could prepare for the future.

"You make it sound so depressing, but I'm actually looking forward to it." Moon Aiko smiled playfully.

"I hope you won't take too long..." Mei pursed her lips. She had a hard time thinking about leaving without Aiko, but she would also no longer limit her in what she wanted to do.

"I will be quick." Moon Aiko nodded her head. She would go 'home' swiftly and come back since she had the feeling that she would be able to return there again later.

"Only a few Foxes survived from our generation..." Mei sighed. Things were not this bleak before, this was all thanks to the shitty management.

"I believe that this place will collapse soon." Moon Aiko narrowed her eyes.

"No. There are still places they can exploit, so it's unlikely other Sects will leave. However, their resource allocation would definitely sharply decrease." Mei knew this too well. The Sects were very clingy about their given territory and would rather burn it down than let others take over it.

It was difficult to say if they were old-fashioned or just straight up crazy. The Mortal World already had limiting resources, but they were still willing to ruin it further.

"Now I'm no longer looking forward to the Upper Mortal World." Mei sighed, touching her cheek. She was greatly troubled by what she might see up there.

"Jade Fox- Vicious Jade Fox." A cute Fox came over to give a report.

"So..." Mei turned towards Aiko. "Anything else you wish to do?"

"Nothing really comes to my mind... It's honestly anticlimactic to see everything end like this." Moon Aiko felt a bit disappointed.

"Is it?" Mei tilted her head. "You haven't caused enough chaos already?" She chuckled, it was so like Aiko.

"Hmmmm..." Moon Aiko paused. "I just think that things could be better."

"Ah, well, it can't be helped. There are many things we can't control and the best we can do is 'guide' the outcome to what we desire." Mei knew this all too well, but she liked being in control even then.

"That's true, but I did enjoy my time in this place." Moon Aiko smiled shyly.

'Ugh...' That shy smile really did it for Mei and she blushed slightly. "Well, it's not like we are leaving forever. You will be able to return in the future if you would like to." Mei suggested while smiling at her. "But I can assure you, the Human Body Stage is really fun. I did rush the stages a bit, but as that will be your first experience, you should take it easy and enjoy it."

"But that's only under the assumption that we have the backing of the Beast Sect, no?" Moon Aiko narrowed her eyes.

"Why do you have to be so sharp at these times?" Mei sighed, but she would still do her best to make Aiko as happy as possible even if they couldn't join the Beast Sect.

"Hey! I'm trying to improve." Moon Aiko pouted at her.

"Sorry, sorry." Mei laughed, hugging Aiko.

Moon Aiko hugged Mei's cheeks.

"My back is up here." Mei's lips twitched.

"But it's softer here." Moon Aiko said shamelessly, making Mei feel speechless.
