Death Draw System: Infinite Revives in the Horror Dungeon
Chapter 241: Planning a Rebellion
Before joining the company, Yang Hua had already received a signed order in her employment letter, but she had never used it. She had originally planned to give it to Shen Yu if he ever found himself in trouble.
But now, Shen Yu had actually guessed that she possessed one.
“Mm. We have some things to take care of tonight. You should return to your dormitory and get some rest. If the company’s leadership changes after tonight, you can continue working here as usual. But if I’m gone, go to the seventh floor and find Long John. He’ll explain everything to you.”
“Shen Yu, you…”
Yang Hua stared at him.
“What exactly are you planning to do?”
As she listened to Shen Yu, her eyes inexplicably reddened. She had a feeling that he was about to do something extremely dangerous.
“Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me. Just take care of yourself.”
With a sudden thud, Shen Yu struck the back of Yang Hua’s neck without warning.
Her eyes rolled back, and she immediately collapsed into his arms.
Shen Yu reached into her pocket and retrieved the Scapegoat Medal and a carefully concealed signed order.
The order contained a few small, crooked words.
For Brother Shen Yu.
Phew!
It was time to put an end to everything.
Carrying Yang Hua out of the office, Shen Yu asked Wen Lan to help send her back to the sixth floor.
Finally, he returned to the elevator.
Ding-dong!
The elevator doors opened again, and Yaning stepped out with a Rat Medal hanging around her neck.
“Shen Yu, it’s done!”
When Yaning handed him the Rat Medal, the instance announcement sounded right on cue.
Ding! You have obtained the Sounding Rat Totem!
Sounding Rat: When you maintain a sound at a certain frequency…
Ding-dong!
The elevator announced the arrival of the third floor.
It was approaching seven in the evening. After Shen Yu had taken Yang Hua away, nobody expected the elevator doors to open once more.
This time, Long John, Zhu Xian, Huan, and Hu Shan stepped out.
“Master! Why are you here?”
Lin Yao’s face immediately lit up when she saw Huan.
Huan, however, only smiled faintly.
“As your master, of course I must personally witness my disciples’ promotion tonight. After all, this is the Wolf Faction’s promotion ceremony.”
As he spoke, Huan’s gaze swept over the members of Shen Yu’s group. A flicker of determination crossed his eyes.
This is it.
Shen Yu silently counted the forces they had gathered.
Yaning now possessed the Sounding Rat Totem. The Hu father and son represented the Tiger and Dog powers. Lin Wan had the Rabbit Totem, while Long John and Ning Xu possessed the Derived Snake Totem. Shen Yu himself had the Scapegoat and Fear Chicken Totems.
Chu Chanan held the Landing Monkey Totem, and then there was Xuen.
In total, ten managerial powers had been assembled.
Of course, the Fox and Wolf factions were also involved.
It seemed that all twelve managerial forces had finally come together.
Yet, for some reason, Shen Yu couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still missing.
Is gathering the twelve managerial powers really enough to defeat the Perfect Man?
Just as he was struggling with his doubts, Long John smiled.
“Don’t hesitate any longer. Let’s begin the promotion ceremony.”
He turned to Shen Yu.
“In a moment, I’ll show you just how reliable the original mechanisms of Evolution Food Company really are.”
“Shen Yu, is it time to begin?”
Lin Yao stood nearby, holding a signed order and waiting for his response.
After a brief hesitation, Shen Yu nodded.
Immediately, Lin Yao walked toward the Wolf Faction’s office desk.
The Tiger Order was already there, originally intended to prevent the faction from being punished for failing to complete its assignment.
Now, Lin Yao placed the Dog Order beside it.
Zzzzz!
A loud announcement suddenly echoed throughout the floor.
“Congratulations to Wen Lan, a new member of the Wolf Faction, for meeting the contract-signing quota! Effective immediately, Wen Lan is promoted to Wolf Faction Sales Captain.
“Furthermore, Lin Yao is promoted to the managerial level and assigned the Dog position.
“All personnel are to proceed immediately to the eighth floor for the celebration banquet. Congratulations!”
As the familiar announcement sounded, Lin Yao handed the Wolf Badge to Wen Lan. She then placed a badge with no visible symbol on her own chest.
The badge glimmered briefly before the outline of a dog slowly appeared upon it.
Seeing this scene, everyone’s expressions grew complicated.
“Master! Master, did you see that? Our Wolf Faction has successfully expanded! From now on, we’ll become even stronger!”
Lin Yao excitedly raised her badge.
Like Lin Wan, she was still dreaming of a brighter future, unaware of what the rise of the new management would mean for the old leadership.
Huan forced a smile.
“Yes. The Wolf Faction will only become stronger as long as everyone remains united.”
“Well then, shall we go?”
Long John ignored the strange atmosphere and opened the elevator doors first.
Everyone approached the elevator with different expressions.
Ning Xu and the others hesitated, unsure whether they were authorized to enter the eighth floor. But when Shen Yu waved them over, they all stepped inside.
Buzz!
Suddenly, the elevator shook as though a hidden switch had been activated.
Bzzzz! Bzzzz!
Every floor button inside the elevator lit up brightly.
Seeing this, Long John nodded without the slightest surprise.
“The ninth floor? Why is the ninth-floor button lighting up this time?”
Huan was visibly shocked by what was happening.
Long John grinned.
“Of course! This is part of Evolution Food Company’s original design. The twelve managers established this system to maintain balance, so naturally, the highest floor can only be accessed when all twelve are gathered together.
“Now, we finally have everything we need. We represent the highest authority of the original Evolution Food Company!”
As he spoke, Long John reached toward the ninth-floor button.
Snap!
Shen Yu stopped him.
“Going directly there now might not guarantee success. But after the banquet, I may be able to find something useful and bring it to you.”
“You…”
Long John looked at Shen Yu in surprise before falling silent.
Without saying anything further, Shen Yu pressed the button for the eighth floor.
As the elevator slowly ascended, everyone began entertaining different thoughts.
“Vice Captain, do you think we could escape if we went directly to the first floor with the combined power of all twelve managers?”
Ning Xu glanced at the first-floor button, clearly thinking about escaping.
“It’s possible,” Shen Yu replied. “But Long John and Zhu Xian might not cooperate. We still need to follow the normal procedure.”
He shook his head helplessly before turning his attention to the others.
This time, apart from Wen Lan, Ning Xu, Chu Chanan, Yaning, Long Lingxue, and the corpse puppet Yin Chang were not qualified to attend the banquet.
What would happen if they tried to enter anyway?
Shen Yu turned a questioning gaze toward Long John.
Long John merely smiled without answering.
However, when the elevator reached the sixth floor, something unexpected happened.
Everyone’s bodies began changing simultaneously.
Creak! Creak! Creak!
The sounds of bones grinding against one another filled the elevator. Skin stretched and wrinkled as the transformations began.
Shen Yu slowly crouched, transforming back into a fox.
Wen Lan became a black wolf.
Yan Ying’s head began transforming into that of a rat.
Ning Xu’s body developed snake scales, while Chu Chanan’s physique grew stronger.
One after another, the powers of the managerial positions awakened as the banquet drew near.
I see.
Only managerial-level personnel can attend the banquet. Anyone who possesses a managerial medal and enters will naturally assume the corresponding managerial form.
But will there be enough time for everyone to complete their transformations?
Shen Yu furrowed his brows slightly.
He handed the Fear Chicken Medal and the Scapegoat Medal to Long Lingxue and the corpse puppet Yin Chang.
It was almost the final moment, and he wasn’t worried about Long Lingxue doing anything harmful.
Another concern crossed his mind.
The fox and black wolf could maintain their transformed forms for a long time. But what would happen if the other managers exhausted their mutation energy?
Would their mutation levels decline?
Would the Perfect Man continue eating while waiting for the others to arrive at the banquet?
Or would they return to human form before entering the eighth floor?
Shen Yu couldn’t figure it out.
He continued watching Long John warily.
After all, compared with Shen Yu, Long John had even more reason to ensure that the managerial-level personnel didn’t run into trouble.
Ding-dong!
The eighth floor has arrived.
Just as Shen Yu was hesitating, the elevator doors opened right on cue.
Long John stepped out, his expression serious.
“Everyone, don’t hesitate any longer! For the sake of our great ambition, we must be willing to sacrifice. We must dare to change the world itself!
“Today is the day we rise against our oppression!”
Awoo! Awoo!
The moment the elevator doors opened, the suppressed confusion, anxiety, and uncertainty that had lingered among the group suddenly disappeared.
Beyond the entrance stood a long, narrow dining table.
Orange-yellow chandelier light spilled across the dishes, casting a warm yet bloody glow over the feast.
And there, at the head of the table, sat the Perfect Man.
Its golden mask had been removed.
One half of its head was opening and closing as it chewed on an enormous chicken foot. The foot was nearly a meter long, and the wet crunching sounds echoed through the room.
Crack! Crunch!
The Perfect Man swallowed the entire chicken foot.
The horrifying sight left everyone inside the elevator stunned.
“Th-this is the highest level?”
“Is that a human… or a monster pretending to be one?”
Ning Xu muttered under his breath.
Shen Yu glanced around the dining table.
Many guests had already arrived.
Mr. Tree’s shoulder was wrapped in bandages, and a plate in front of him contained a piece of bright red shoulder meat.
He remained silent.
The Rabbit Man had only half a head left. Its body sat trembling beside the Perfect Man, too frightened to move.
Pei Pei’s face was deathly pale. On the plate before her lay a piece of flesh still covered in snake scales.
Ho Yunying stood beside the Perfect Man, his face dark as he held a plate of monkey paws.
Old Mr. Fu hadn’t appeared at all that night.
An elderly dove sat in his place, its face twisted with pain. It was so frightened that it didn’t dare move.
Silence.
Despair.
Suffocation.
As the Perfect Man continued eating, the helplessness on the other animals’ faces became increasingly apparent.
“Hmm?”
The Perfect Man finally noticed the newcomers.
“The main characters have arrived. And you’ve brought so many juniors with you this time.”
It paused, apparently amused.
“Are you looking to appoint some new managers for yourselves?”
It laughed.
“That’s fine. That’s perfectly fine! Everyone, come closer!”
After swallowing the chicken foot, the Perfect Man’s upper body began twisting and wrinkling.
Creak! Creak!
Strange noises echoed through the room as the flesh beneath its armpits split open.
A new pair of arms pushed their way out.
At the same time, a blood-red pustule on its neck swelled rapidly. Another head, also wearing a golden mask, slowly emerged from the growth.
The sight was immediately horrifying.
One of the Perfect Man’s heads continued chewing while its hands grabbed food from the plates.
The newly formed head, however, turned toward Shen Yu and the others, waving its arms in excitement.
Curiosity.
Its curiosity was almost beyond comprehension.
“This… this…”
It was the first time the newcomers had witnessed anything like this.
Yaning and the others immediately stopped in their tracks, all of them looking toward Shen Yu.
Shen Yu narrowed his eyes and took the lead, walking toward the Perfect Man.
He pointed toward the other managerial positions.
“Stand behind the senior manager corresponding to your Totem.”
To the Perfect Man, these newcomers were merely the successors of the original managers.
To the existing management, however, they were there to oppose the Perfect Man.
The old managers wouldn’t expose their intentions in front of it.
For the moment, they should be safe.
Step. Step. Step.
With Shen Yu leading the way, Wen Lan also boldly approached the Perfect Man.
Long John, Zhu Xian, and the Hu father and son took their seats and presented themselves as the new food supply.
The Perfect Man’s armpits suddenly split open again.
Another pair of arms emerged, and yet another head began growing from its neck.
“Ah… ah…”
Two heads and multiple pairs of arms began grabbing food from the table. Blood mist frequently burst from the Perfect Man’s mouth as it ate.
But this time, one of its remaining pairs of arms suddenly seized Wen Lan.
Awoo!
Before she could react, the Perfect Man slammed her towering wolf head onto the table and forced her face into a plate of monkey paws, treating her like a dog.
“Eat! Eat!”
It sounded delighted.
“A new recruit from the Wolf Faction. You’re quite impressive! You managed to sign two contracts in a single day. Good! Very good!
“From now on, you and Shen Yu will be my new candidates for the Rabbit and Dog positions.
“Serve me well. Swear your loyalty to me!”
Munch! Munch!
Pinned beneath the Perfect Man’s hands, Wen Lan didn’t dare move.
Her long wolf eyes narrowed as she repeatedly glanced sideways at Shen Yu.
Shen Yu, however, remained seated calmly.
“Where’s the blood? Where’s the blood?”
With a bang, the Perfect Man slammed its hands against the table, apparently still dissatisfied.
Another pair of arms suddenly reached out and grabbed the still-seated Huan.
“Awoo!”
The dog-headed Huan screamed instinctively as the enormous hands lifted his small body toward the Perfect Man’s gaping mouth.
“Ahhh!”
Amid the dense rows of sharp teeth, the Perfect Man immediately bit into Huan’s neck.
A large chunk of skin and flesh was torn away, leaving a deep crater beneath his fur.
Blood sprayed everywhere.
“Ha ha ha ha ha!”
The Perfect Man laughed hysterically.
“Ah! This is amazing! This is truly amazing!”
