"What do you think you’re doing? It was your cub’s fault. Why are you yelling at my cub?"

Mu Zhi shielded her cub, glaring fiercely at Bai Wanwan.

Bai Wanwan was perfectly composed. They had to apologize today.

’She had powerful backing, after all.’

Besides, after what happened last time, it was unlikely she could ever get along with the Black Dog Tribe.

Mu Zhi’s eyes widened. Before she could erupt, Bai Wanwan added, "Then again, if he doesn’t apologize today, taking his life isn’t out of the question either."

"You... You wouldn’t dare!"

Mu Zhi’s face flushed red with anger. She spun around and kicked one of her Beast Husbands. "What are you all doing? They’re threatening my cub’s life, and you’re not going to do anything?"

Bai Wanwan glanced to the side and saw a few scrawny males emerge, looking timid and hesitant.

She scoffed. "Then just watch me."

With that, she turned to Zhu Xiu. "Zhu Xiu, if they refuse to apologize, teach them a lesson. Don’t hold back. I don’t care if you beat them to death or cripple them."

Mu Zhi’s Beast Husbands, who had just stepped forward, heard her words perfectly. They didn’t dare look up at her or Zhu Xiu, let alone speak a single word.

"Useless! Can’t you see our cub and I are being bullied? Are you just going to stand there and watch?"

Instead of arguing with Bai Wanwan, Mu Zhi started yelling at her own Beast Husbands.

Bai Wanwan waited for a moment, growing impatient.

"Are you done fighting yet? If you are, then it’s time to apologize."

Mu Zhi ignored her, continuing to blame her Beast Husbands.

Without a word, Zhu Xiu walked toward Mu Zhi’s Beast Husbands.

He grabbed one in each hand. A few moments later, he had thrown all of Mu Zhi’s Beast Husbands aside.

He had been rough. The males lay on the ground, unable to get up.

Mu Zhi screamed in terror, shielding her cub as she stumbled backward.

As she retreated, Bai Wanwan advanced.

"Are you going to apologize or not? Little cub, if you don’t, you’re next."

’She had no qualms about disciplining a child.’

’Bratty kids who didn’t listen deserved a spanking.’

She had overheard a bit on her way in. This incident had clearly caused a huge problem for the tribe.

And since she was living here now, trouble for the tribe meant trouble for her family.

Mu Zhi stroked her cub’s head, holding him protectively in her arms. She forced herself to sound brave and threatened, "If you dare harm a cub, I’ll go straight to the Clan Leader and have you banished!"

"Go ahead. But before you do, you and your cub will lose the ability to ever speak again for not knowing when to shut up."

Bai Wanwan shrugged, flashing a brilliant smile. "Do you understand? If not, let me put it simply: apologize or die. You choose."

Mu Zhi didn’t believe she would actually dare to harm a cub. In any tribe, harming cubs and females was a heinous crime.

Mu Zhi’s cub hid behind his Mother, staring in terror at Zhu Xiu, who stood beside Bai Wanwan.

The moment Bai Wanwan finished speaking, Zhu Xiu shot a look in their direction. He hadn’t even moved, but the cub was so frightened he burst into tears with a loud "WAAAH!"

"I was wrong! Don’t hit me! I stole the egg! I ate the egg! It wasn’t the wolf cub!"

The Beastmen of the Black Dog Tribe were stunned.

Mu Zhi slapped her son. "What nonsense are you spouting? Didn’t you just say the wolf cub stole it?"

He bawled, "I was scared I’d get in trouble, so I said the wolf cub did it!"

Bai Wanwan let out a derisive laugh. "Are your ears working? Did everyone hear that loud and clear? This has nothing to do with my wolf cub. The one who brought this disaster upon the tribe is *her* cub."

Many of the Beastmen were still processing what had happened. But once it sank in, they unleashed a torrent of curses on Mu Zhi and her son. They had stolen an Eagle Beast’s egg, bringing trouble to the whole tribe, and then framed an outsider, nearly dragging everyone else down with them.

Bai Wanwan couldn’t be bothered to waste any more time with them. She looped her arm through Zhu Xiu’s and started to leave.

"My Beast Husband is the best. Our family’s staunchest protector."

’If it had been Shi Hua or any other female in this situation today, the truth probably would never have come out.’

’Thankfully, her Beast Husband was powerful enough that she could borrow his might to intimidate the other Beastmen and Mu Zhi’s cub.’

Hearing her words, Zhu Xiu’s resolve strengthened. ’I have to break this Dark Curse as soon as possible so I can protect her and our cubs forever.’

Bai Wanwan moved closer to him and reached out to play with her little wolf cub.

Seeing his Mother so close, the wolf cub was no longer content to lie languidly in Zhu Xiu’s arms. He bounced up, trying constantly to get to Bai Wanwan.

Even though Zhu Xiu held him back several times, the cub wouldn’t give up, still struggling to reach his Mother.

Bai Wanwan smiled and held out her arms. "Come here, let Mama hold you."

"He’s been eating a lot and has gotten heavy. I should hold him—"

"It’s fine. I’ll hold him for a bit. You can take him when I get tired."

She leaned right in and took the wolf cub from his arms.

Smelling his Mother’s scent, the wolf cub snuggled into her embrace, closing his eyes contentedly as she stroked his fur.

After they had walked a little way toward their cave, she saw Xin Feng striding toward them.

When he drew near, he looked at Zhu Xiu. "You’ve recovered?"

"For now." Zhu Xiu didn’t hide the truth.

Xin Feng came to stand on Bai Wanwan’s other side. "What’s your plan, then?" he continued.

"I just came to bring Wanwan back. After this, I’m going to look for an Energy Stone. I’ll return when my condition is stable."

"Looking for an Energy Stone? Where will you go?"

Zhu Xiu himself didn’t know.

Energy Stones weren’t common. After hearing they could break the Dark Curse, the only one he had ever found was in Wandering Beast City.

He had no idea how long it would take to find another.

To avoid harming Wanwan’s other Beast Husbands and cubs, he had to stay far away.

"I’m not sure. I don’t have any leads on Energy Stones right now."

Bai Wanwan cut in, "If you don’t have any leads, then don’t leave my side. We can ask around here in the Black Dog Tribe. If we find a clue, we’ll go look for it together."

She didn’t want Zhu Xiu to go off on his own, especially since she had another option available to her.

’As long as she had enough Points, she could lift his curse.’

"It would be too dangerous for you to be with me."

Xin Feng knew Wanwan wouldn’t just let him leave. She hadn’t given up on Zhu Xiu even when his condition was at its worst.

"It doesn’t matter. If you have another episode, I’ll take the cubs and move away. That way, we can still look out for each other. And with you here, we can better protect Wanwan."

’Wanwan is a Holy Female. If they were to leave the tribe and venture into the outside world, he alone wasn’t nearly enough to care for her.’

Bai Wanwan immediately jumped on his words. "Xin Feng is right. We’re a family, and we need to stick together. Zhu Xiu, I forbid you from leaving on your own."

Zhu Xiu turned to look at her, his heart aching at the thought of leaving.

’If it weren’t for the Dark Curse, he could stay by Wanwan’s side and go with her wherever she wanted.’

Bai Wanwan didn’t give him a chance to refuse. "Then it’s settled. You’re not leaving. I’m hungry, can we go back and have hot pot?"

Zhu Xiu sighed. "Alright."

The cub in Bai Wanwan’s arms let out a soft snore. Xin Feng reached out and took him from her.

"This little cub is too mischievous. I look away for a second and he’s gone."

Bai Wanwan looked down at the wolf cub lying belly-up in his arms and mumbled to Xin Feng, "You have no idea. The cub was just falsely accused. I was furious."

"What happened?"

Bai Wanwan immediately recounted the incident, embellishing it with extra details.

After listening to her story, Xin Feng pursed his lips. "An Eagle Beast’s egg? The Black Dog Tribe is in big trouble now."
