The wind cut like a knife, making one’s face ache with pain.

Before coming out, Bai Wanwan had applied several heat packs to her body. She didn’t want to catch a cold at a time like this and hold everyone back.

She was also wearing the down jacket she had traded for last year.

Before leaving, Bai Wanwan had asked Shi Hua and her two Beast Husbands to help look after the cubs.

The three males then led her toward the tribe’s main gate.

Snowflakes continued to flutter down from the sky.

Bai Wanwan reached out to stroke Zhu Xiu’s back, suddenly remembering something. "Zhu Xiu, don’t all snakes hibernate? Why don’t you?"

Last snow season in Wandering Beast City, the climate hadn’t been extremely cold, so it was understandable that Zhu Xiu didn’t hibernate.

But now, with the cold wind raging and every breath feeling like inhaling ice shards, he still moved about as usual.

The giant King Cobra’s head turned, its reddish eyes fixing on her. "I am a Mutated Snake Beast. I can use my Talent Power to resist the instinct to hibernate. But if I get injured, or if my Talent Power is severely depleted... I will be forced into a deep sleep."

She had only asked casually, and her attention was soon pulled away by the increasingly distinct roars of beasts.

The roars of the Golden Lions were at times agonized, at times furious. Bai Wanwan’s heart sank, and she lost all desire to speak.

Zhu Xiu was incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, they arrived at the tribe’s main gate.

Even though she had been mentally prepared, the sight before her still made Bai Wanwan’s breath catch in her throat.

The snow was stained dark red. The bodies of Golden Lions and black bears lay scattered everywhere, some torn so brutally they were no longer whole.

The cold wind carried the stench of blood, assaulting them...

"This is madness! How could you bring a female out here? The cold is deadly for females! Get back, quickly!"

Jin Wu had been intently watching the battlefield when he suddenly spotted Bai Wanwan and immediately cried out in alarm.

Before her Beast Husbands could speak, Bai Wanwan explained to the old beastman, "Don’t worry, sir. I’m not cold. I just want to see what’s happening. I’ll go back soon."

Jin Cang, whose life had been saved by the medicine he’d just been given, was leaning weakly against a stone bed. Hearing Bai Wanwan’s voice, he immediately called out to Jin Yue, "Help me outside. I want to see."

Jin Yue looked anxious. "Clan Leader, your injuries are extremely serious. The Clan Witch said..."

Jin Cang waved him off with a smile. "I’m fine now. Are you going to help me, or do I have to walk by myself?"

Jin Yue had no choice but to step forward and support him, though he continued to try and persuade him. "Uncle Witch is keeping watch outside. You should be resting and healing your wounds..."

Jin Cang could clearly feel his injuries recovering at a rapid pace. This wound would not be the death of him.

After Jin Yue helped him take a few steps, he was certain he hadn’t misheard. Bai Wanwan was really standing just a short distance from the stone dwelling.

"Wanwan?"

Bai Wanwan turned her head at the sound of Clan Leader Jin Cang’s voice.

Seeing the Clan Leader’s pale and weakened state, she realized that Jin Yi had rushed to get the ointment for him.

"Clan Leader, you’re injured? Is it serious?"

Bai Wanwan walked over and instinctively took his arm to support him.

Seeing the concern in her eyes, Jin Cang shook his head, gratified. "It’s nothing serious. Why did you come out? It’s dangerous here, and the cold alone could take half your life. Have your Beast Husbands take you back at once."

Just as Bai Wanwan was about to reply, she heard Jin Wu shout urgently, "Quick, the Bear Clan is surrounding the Young Clan Leader again! A few of you, go and help him now!"

The color drained from Jin Cang’s face, and he hurried forward.

Supporting him, Bai Wanwan followed him to the tribe’s main gate.

In the distance, Jin Yi’s figure stood out starkly.

The male who had just come to her for ointment was now fighting on the front lines.

His golden mane was matted with blood. And though his movements were still swift and fierce, he was clearly exhausted.

A dozen or so Bear Clan Beastmen swarmed him, attacking all at once.

Bai Wanwan’s heart clenched painfully. At the thought of Jin Yi being killed by these black bears, a powerful rage surged through her.

Zhu Xiu saw the look on her face and seemed to guess what she was thinking.

But in the end, he was the one to speak. "Don’t worry, I’ll go help him."

Bai Wanwan snapped her gaze back to him. "But..."

With tens of thousands of Beastmen from the Black Bear Tribe laying siege, it would be just as dangerous for Zhu Xiu to go out.

"Don’t worry. At the very least, I can protect myself."

Without another moment’s delay, he turned to Yan Lie and Xin Feng. "Look after Wanwan. If the situation gets out of hand, take her and leave immediately. Don’t worry about me."

Xin Feng looked at him and nodded. "Be careful."

Yan Lie also silently moved two steps closer to Bai Wanwan, assuming a protective stance.

Finally, he gave Bai Wanwan a long, deep look. "I’ll be back soon."

"Okay. I’ll be waiting for you!"

Jin Yi panted heavily, his sharp claws tearing open the throat of a Bear Clan Beastman as warm blood splashed across his face.

His claws tore through one enemy after another, but there were simply too many...

The Bear Clan had come prepared this time; the number of males with Yellow Rank Talent far exceeded their expectations.

If this kept up, the Golden Lion Tribe’s defensive line would be broken sooner or later.

Beside him, another tribesman fell, his throat torn out by a Bear Clan Beastman, blood spraying into the air.

Jin Yi’s eyes burned with rage, his chest churning with a mixture of fury and despair.

’I can’t lose... I absolutely cannot lose!’

He closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, they were filled with grim resolve.

He watched the High Rank Males from the Bear Clan close in on him, a look of final, grim determination in his eyes.

’Only by weakening the Bear Clan’s forces as much as possible will the Golden Lion Clan have a future.’

More than a dozen Yellow Rank Males drew closer and closer...

Jin Yi began to gather all the Talent Power in his body, the energy converging madly within him as he prepared to self-destruct.

He had to take enough of the Bear Clan’s elite warriors with him to buy his tribe a moment’s respite!

The Bear Clan Beastmen’s attacks arrived, only to be swatted away by a massive Snake Tail.

"Jin Yi!"

Just as his energy was about to erupt, Jin Yi saw a dark shadow appear before his eyes.

Zhu Xiu’s Snake Tail pressed down on his shoulder, forcibly interrupting the flow of his Talent Power. His voice was like ice. "Don’t do anything stupid."

The storm of energy in Jin Yi’s eyes gradually faded. "What are you doing here? This is a feud between our Golden Lion Tribe and the Bear Clan. You don’t need to get involved. Go back to Bai Wanwan. If... if the Golden Lion Tribe falls, you must get her away from here at the first opportunity."

Zhu Xiu’s gaze swept over him. "I will protect her."

As he spoke, he swept aside two more High Rank Males who had closed in to attack.

The Yellow Rank black bears stared at the King Cobra in disbelief.

They all had Yellow Rank Talent, yet the Talent Power they unleashed had no effect on him whatsoever.

"The Bear Clan is using the excuse that you killed their Young Clan Leader to attack. But I was the one who killed him. This is my responsibility."
