In the days that followed, Chou Rong vanished as if into thin air, never showing his face again.

Yin Ze never forgot Chou Rong’s parting words, and his gaze would unconsciously follow the little cubs.

’If Chou Rong isn’t Wanwan’s Beast Husband, then how could these cubs carry both his and Wanwan’s scent?’

The fact that they had a litter of cubs together was undeniable.

Because he couldn’t decipher Chou Rong’s meaning and was unsure of the truth, he didn’t tell Wanwan what Chou Rong had said that day.

Meanwhile, Bai Wanwan had spent all her time and energy on the cubs these past few days.

She personally fed them meat and bathed them, and the cubs grew more and more attached to her, trailing after her like a string of little tails.

"Sweethearts, don’t follow so closely. Mother might step on you," she reminded them gently.

But the cubs didn’t listen at all, continuing to scamper happily behind her.

"MEOW~ Mother, take us out to play~" a little Cat Cub whined, hugging her leg with big, round, teary eyes.

Bai Wanwan’s heart melted instantly. She picked up the Cat Cub and kissed it again and again. "It’s not safe outside right now. How about Mother plays with you at home?"

The little Cat Cub’s ears drooped. "But... I want the other cubs to see that I have a Mother too."

Another Cat Cub chimed in, "Exactly! They always make fun of us for not having a Mother! But we do!"

As he spoke, he puffed out his chest proudly; to him, their Mother was better than anyone else’s.

The eldest, most level-headed tiger cub pinned his brother to the ground with a paw. "It’s enough that we know we have a Mother. Why tell them anything? Have you forgotten what Father Beast said?"

The cubs’ spirits sank at once. They all desperately wanted the other cubs to know that they had a Mother too.

Listening to the cubs, Bai Wanwan felt a pang of sorrow.

’I don’t know what happened before. Did I have a fight with the cubs’ Father Beast, or was there some other reason?’

But she never imagined that the cubs would be mocked by others just because she wasn’t with them.

"When I see your Father Beast, Mother will ask when we can go out. If we can, I’ll definitely take you to see those other cubs. Mother wants to be friends with them too."

"Mother, really?"

"Yes, really. In the future, when Mother takes you out to play, we’ll be able to go out openly and proudly."

Hearing her promise, the cubs jumped for joy.

Over the past few days, she had familiarized herself with the System and discovered lots of cub snacks and toys in the System Space.

She then pulled out a leather ball and threw it. The little tiger cub shot out like a bolt of lightning.

The cubs excitedly chased the ball, having the time of their lives.

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK..."

Just as they were enjoying themselves, a sudden knock echoed from the gate.

Yin Ze was about to get up and open it when the Beastman watching the cubs stopped him. "You take the cubs inside first. I’ll go see who it is."

The courtyard gate was usually kept shut. Only the Young Clan Leader would knock five times.

’This knock is clearly wrong.’

"Who is it?" the Beastman asked warily.

"Our cub is missing. Open the gate and let us look for it."

"There’s no cub here for you to find. Go look elsewhere."

The Beastman had just turned around when, with a loud BAM, the wooden gate was kicked off its hinges.

He dodged nimbly, only to see Feng Xi sauntering in with several of her Beast Husbands.

"Brother Chou Rong went to so much trouble to get me out of the way. Good thing I came prepared." After saying this to the Beast Husband beside her, her beautiful eyes shifted to the Beastman in the courtyard. "I don’t want to make things difficult for you. Just hand over that female."

"Holy Female Feng Xi, I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"The fact that I found this place proves I know Chou Rong is hiding her."

Beads of sweat formed on the Beastman’s forehead. With so many Orange Rank Beast Husbands by Holy Female Feng Xi’s side, he wouldn’t be able to stop them even if he laid down his life here today.

He could only continue to play dumb. "Holy Female Feng Xi, the female you’re looking for really isn’t here. There are only us Beastmen who follow the Young Clan Leader. Please go back. If the Young Clan Leader finds out you came, he won’t be happy either."

"Even if he’s not happy, I must find out. Do you want me to search for her myself?"

Feng Xi smiled and nodded. "Alright then. Cong Yi, you go search."

The Beastman named Cong Yi was blocked after just two steps.

A mouthful of blood sprayed out, but the Beastman still tried to charge forward again.

Feng Xi frowned. "Cong Yi, go easy on him. These are all Brother Chou Rong’s subordinates."

Cong Yi said, displeased, "Wife, do you find my work unsatisfactory? Then let them do it."

Feng Xi knew his personality, so she had to coax him with a few soft words.

The sound of footsteps drew closer. Yin Ze knew they could no longer hide, his expression grim.

"Wanwan, if a fight breaks out and I can’t stop them, I’ll fly you out of here."

Bai Wanwan nodded. "Okay."

The words had barely left her mouth when the door to the room was kicked open.

Yin Ze stood in front of her. Feng Xi tilted her head, trying to see the person behind him. "Move. I have something to say to her."

Yin Ze didn’t budge. "We don’t know you. You want to get past me? Have your Beast Husband defeat me first."

Feng Xi didn’t actually want to make a big scene, afraid that Chou Rong would get angry if he found out. "I’m not here to cause trouble. Move aside. I just want to discuss something with her."

Bai Wanwan knew she couldn’t avoid this. Fortunately, the System reminded her there was a fully charged laser gun in her System Space. It might not kill them, but it could certainly intimidate them.

She patted Yin Ze. "Let me hear what she has to say."

Yin Ze was still worried. "What if she tries to hurt you?"

There were several Orange Rank Beastmen here; he wasn’t sure he could protect her alone.

Suddenly, Feng Xi shrieked, "Whose cubs are these?!"

She strode forward quickly, and Bai Wanwan hurriedly gathered the cubs into her arms to protect them.

Feng Xi was blocked by Yin Ze, but her eyes were locked on the cubs in Bai Wanwan’s arms. "Are these... your and Brother Chou Rong’s cubs?"

Her beautiful face was filled with disbelief, and she looked as if she was about to break down.

Bai Wanwan took a few wary steps back.

’A Beastman’s sense of smell doesn’t lie. There’s no hiding this.’

’Judging by Feng Xi’s reaction, she’s probably in love with Chou Rong. Maybe they were even involved.’
