Chapter 378: Chapter 378: He Must Live

Although the three Orange Rank males were severely wounded, their power was still immense. Chou Rong showed no fear as he charged forward.

"Young Clan Leader, be careful!"

Chou Rong’s eyes were clouded with hatred. He had to kill the Beastman who murdered his Father Beast with his own hands.

Attacks from the other Orange Rank Beastmen landed on him, but it was as if he couldn’t feel the pain.

His attacks were swift and ferocious.

The three Orange Rank males were overwhelmed by his sheer presence, forced into a continuous retreat.

ROAR...

Chou Rong snapped the leg bone of one of the Orange Rank Beastmen with a single bite.

The other two seized the chance to launch a sneak attack. Chou Rong leaped up, kicked off the first Tiger Beast with all four limbs, and whipped his head around to sink his teeth into another Orange Rank Beastman’s neck.

The Beastman let out a pained whimper, but Chou Rong turned a deaf ear.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his nemesis taking the opportunity to retreat.

"Zhu Li, you’re courting death!"

With an enraged roar, he abandoned the three Orange Rank Beastmen and charged straight for Zhu Li.

Zhu Li realized he couldn’t outrun Chou Rong, so he had no choice but to turn and fight.

A fifty-year-old Tiger Beast was in the prime of his life, but he was no match for a younger, more ferocious one.

The two Tiger Beasts tore into each other, sending blood splashing everywhere...

When Bai Wanwan arrived with her males, she saw Chou Rong fighting like a madman.

He wasn’t defending at all. His eyes held nothing but the grim determination to kill his opponent.

Seeing him covered in blood, her heart sank. She couldn’t help but yell in his direction, "Chou Rong, don’t forget you have four cubs waiting for you to raise them!"

Bai Wanwan’s voice was like a cool spring, dousing the inferno of rage that had erupted in his heart.

’Yes, I still have four cubs,’ he thought. ’I can’t let them be without a Father Beast.’

’If it weren’t for them, I would gladly throw my life away to fight Zhu Li to the bitter end.’

’But now... I have to live!’

With his mind clear, Chou Rong leaped back, dodging Zhu Li’s snapping jaws and kicking away the mouth that lunged for him.

He swiftly moved behind Zhu Li and sank his teeth into the back of his neck.

Zhu Li was already weaker than Chou Rong to begin with, and now he was severely injured.

Once Chou Rong calmed down, his attacks became flawless.

Zhu Li was like a mouse being toyed with by a cat; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t land a single bite on Chou Rong.

Instead, Chou Rong covered him in wounds.

He realized Chou Rong’s motive: Chou Rong wanted to slowly, painfully bleed him dry!

"Chou Rong, I am also your Father Beast! You can’t do this to me!"

"Are you worthy?"

With that, he bit down on his neck again, tearing at the flesh.

But each time, he deliberately avoided the fatal spots.

Zhu Li was tormented to the brink of death, with no strength left to fight back.

"I... I am your Mother’s beloved Beast Husband. If you kill me, aren’t you afraid of breaking her heart?"

The massive Tiger Beast paced over to him and pinned his face down with a paw. "You weren’t afraid of breaking her heart when you killed my Father Beast. So why would I give her a reason to be sad by letting her know I killed you?"

Zhu Li gasped for breath. ’If I had known he would grow this powerful,’ he thought, ’I should have been more ruthless back then. I should have watched him take his last breath before calling off the hunt.’

"No! If you kill me, your Mother will find out!"

Chou Rong looked down on him, his sharp claws already piercing through Zhu Li’s eyeball and the side of his nose...

"She will never know."

Zhu Li’s pleas for mercy were incessant, but Chou Rong’s brutal torture never paused.

Seeing that Chou Rong had the upper hand, Bai Wanwan said nothing more to disturb him.

After a long while, Zhu Li, drained of blood, unwillingly drew his last breath.

Bai Wanwan stood at a distance, watching until Zhu Li’s body on the ground went completely still.

"Zhu Xiu, can you see if that Beastman is dead?"

Zhu Xiu only needed a single glance to know that the Clan Leader of the Tiger Clan was gone.

"Mm."

They all thought that now that Chou Rong had his revenge, he would return to them.

But Chou Rong just kept staring at Zhu Li.

He stared for a long, long time, before his body suddenly swayed and he collapsed heavily to the ground.

’This is bad,’ Bai Wanwan thought. ’Chou Rong must be badly injured.’

She immediately called out urgently to Yan Lie, "Yan Lie, go quickly and see what’s wrong!"

Yan Lie gave a cry of affirmation and immediately ran toward Chou Rong.

Seeing her anxiety, Zhu Xiu wrapped his long tail around her and followed swiftly behind Yan Lie.

By the time they got close, Yan Lie had already finished his inspection. "Wanwan, don’t worry. He’s just injured, but he’s still alive."

Now that she was closer, Bai Wanwan could see the countless scratches and bites, both large and small, covering his body...

He was covered in wounds from head to toe—a truly shocking sight.

"Zhu Xiu, put me down."

As soon as her feet touched the ground, Bai Wanwan immediately applied Extreme Effect Golden Sore Medicine to his most severe wounds.

She breathed a sigh of relief only when she saw the bleeding stop.

"Zhu Xiu, please take Chou Rong back. His wounds still need to be treated."

Zhu Xiu didn’t move immediately. Instead, he turned to look at the Beastmen who were approaching from nearby.

"How is the Young Clan Leader?"

They were desperate to get closer, but were held back by the intimidating aura of Zhu Xiu and the other powerful males.

Besides... they could tell that these newcomers seemed to bear no ill will toward the Young Clan Leader.

"Your Young Clan Leader is severely wounded. We will take him back for treatment. As for everything else, your Young Clan Leader should have already told you what to do, correct?" Zhu Xiu said, staring them down.

"Yes, the Young Clan Leader gave us instructions. In that case, we entrust the Young Clan Leader and his cubs to you."

When they saw the Young Clan Leader’s trusted subordinate looking after the cubs behind them, they felt even more at ease.

With the arrangements made, the beast-form corpse of the Tiger Clan’s Leader, Zhu Li, was dragged away, and the bloodstains on the ground were quickly washed clean.

By the time Bai Wanwan and the others returned to their dwelling, Chou Rong had already fallen unconscious.

His massive tiger-form body was too large for the stone bed, so they could only lay him on the floor in the middle of the room.

Ever since they saw their Father Beast unconscious and wounded, the little cubs had been whimpering nonstop.

Now that they were free, they rushed over, whining pitifully as they circled their Father Beast.

Bai Wanwan stood to the side, her heart aching as she watched.

’The cubs love their Father Beast so deeply,’ she thought. ’All the more reason I can’t let him die.’

She walked over and gathered the cubs in her arms to comfort them. "Your Father Beast is just tired. He’ll be all better after a good sleep."

The most innocent and adorable of them, the Cat Cub, looked up at his Mother, his tear-filled eyes brimming with vulnerability. "Mother, will Father Beast really wake up?"

The other cubs all turned their heads at once, looking at her with hopeful eyes.

She knew that her words could offer them immense comfort right now, so she nodded without hesitation. "He will. Trust your Mother. I promise you, your Father Beast will wake up in the next day or two."

The tension and fear on the cubs’ faces immediately eased.

"Mother, I believe you," the Cat Cub said. "We’ll wait for Father Beast to wake up."

The Cat Cub snuggled into her embrace, sadly nuzzling his head against her.

Bai Wanwan stroked each of their heads in turn. "Now that you’ve seen your Father Beast, why don’t you go get some rest? Mother will take good care of him. When you wake up, you might even see him awake."

The cubs trusted her completely and nodded at once. "Okay, Mother. I’ll take my little brothers and sisters to bed. See you tomorrow."

"Okay, be good. See you tomorrow."

The moment the cubs were gone, the expression on Bai Wanwan’s face changed completely.
