Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era
Chapter 1029 - 449: [Part 2]
After the Star Core shattered, it didn’t cause an explosion that would destroy his body, because the power originally within the Star Core had reached a balance with the Divine Power of the King of Bronze. Not only was there not even a trace of power scattering, but the force of attraction grew stronger, pulling all power firmly into the core!
It would have been fine normally, at most returning to the suitable rotation of the nebula. However, this newly formed "nebula" had far stronger gravitational pull than before, strong enough to even absorb the Divine Soul.
But now he is still maneuvering the Awakening Space, moving in the extremely dangerous Abyss!
As long as he diverts even a Thought, it will immediately be absorbed by the newly formed nebula, potentially even destroying the hold of his entire Divine Soul! But if he doesn’t divert any Thought, who knows where this Awakening Space will take him?
"Screech!"
A sharp explosion sounded, and a bloodstain suddenly appeared on Chu Xiu’s right arm, as a spatial turbulence rushed in from the gap previously struck open in the Awakening Space, directly slicing through his body!
And under the impact of the spatial turbulence, the gap also showed signs of expanding!
"Damn!"
Chu Xiu knew he couldn’t delay any longer, a fierce look flashed across his eyes.
"Go for broke!"
He decisively released his consciousness, and immediately five bright Anchor Points appeared before him!
"Huh? Why are there five?"
A trace of confusion flashed quickly through his mind, but the immense suction that followed left him no time to think. He could only divert a portion of his Thought, pulling fiercely towards the nearest Anchor Point, while using the remaining Thought to fully resist the suction!
However, just like how a previously airtight wall develops a crack, it was hard to hold firm, and Chu Xiu’s Divine Soul Power surged massively towards the Star Core!
Not knowing how much time had passed, seemingly in an instant, yet also as if for a long time, Chu Xiu suddenly felt a sense of falling, and finally once again emerged victorious in the battle against the Star Core.
But this time, to leave no weakness behind, he completely sealed off his consciousness.
At the moment of losing his last sense of the Outer World, he only felt himself falling from a great height, and crashing heavily onto the ground.
...
Qilan Star, within a massive waste disposal site.
As the spiritual energy airship opened the cargo hold, countless trash poured down from the sky like a heavy rain.
"Rumble!!!"
The trash included filthy excrement, decaying plant and animal bodies, but most of it was assorted scrapped, unrecognizable mechanical items.
These steel creations fell from an altitude of a hundred thousand meters, slamming onto piles of trash mountains with a massive crash, being compressed into unrecognizable lumps by gravity.
Only a few special metals could withstand the impact of gravity.
And these metals were the targets of the [Scavengers].
Once the airship left, the trash mountains returned to silence after the thunderous crash, and hundreds of shadows darted from all directions like predatory insects.
These scavengers were all humans, but hardly any retained complete bodies. Various prosthetics were installed on them, giving them speed and power far beyond ordinary people.
They skillfully maneuvered through the trash mountains, dodging heavy objects falling from metal deformations and using specialized instruments to investigate this newly fallen batch of trash.
Finding a trace of possible "Treasure" within the heaps of trash to exchange with the big shots from the investigation team for a meal was the scavengers’ way of survival.
Among all the scavengers, there was one particularly agile figure.
This was a girl who appeared to be only fourteen or fifteen years old, her long black hair tied into a ponytail behind her head. She revealed no visible prosthetics, yet her movements were unexpectedly nimble, like a swift leopard running over piles of steel.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and her figure accelerated, turning into a blur as she cut through the crowd, diving toward a trash mountain, thrusting her left hand fiercely into the intertwined steel heap!
An eerie thing happened, as the originally solid steel was split by her slender arm!
When she withdrew her hand, a small black box appeared in her palm.
"Crack!"
Her palm exerted force, causing the casing to crack open, then her other hand peeled it off, exposing the intricate circular mechanical object within.
"Ah!"
The girl let out a joyful exclamation, quickly pocketing the mechanical object into the pouch close to her body, then dashed swiftly toward the distance.
"Tsk, that little girl found something good again." Two scavengers nearby envied as they watched the girl’s departing figure.
"Well, what can you do, she’s a [Holy Blooder]."
"Old Li, you better not say that recklessly. Calling her a [Holy Blooder]—she’s actually a [Polluter]. If the investigation team hears you, they’ll flay you alive!"
"How could the investigation team come to a place like this... Even if someone reports it, they wouldn’t waste time dealing with it."
"Oh well, better safe than sorry."
"Indeed..." This time, the scavenger called Old Li lowered his voice again, "Old Sun, I heard she has a younger brother, whose Holy Blood... I mean, pollution level is even higher!"
"Brother?" Old Sun sneered, "Don’t say things without basis. I’ve watched that girl grow up. Her parents died early, and back then, we all fed her with our share of food, where’s the brother coming from?"
"I see," Old Li looked regretfully at the girl’s distant figure, shaking his head slightly. "This young girl isn’t bad-looking, and she’s clever. If it weren’t for the [Holy Blood], she might have been chosen."
Old Sun shook his head and said, "I wouldn’t wish for her to be chosen. Although it means one less person competing with us for things, serving those grandies isn’t easy. Haven’t there been enough corpses falling from those airships? Didn’t each one become a... It’s better not to talk about it; maybe picking trash is actually freer."
"Freedom is freedom, but you never know when your life might end!" Old Li sighed, "Those bastards throw everything down here. Recently I’ve been feeling a pressure on my chest all the time, no idea what disease I’ve caught, might just stop breathing one day."
This time, Old Sun didn’t refute, but sighed in deep agreement.
The investigation team has been exploring the ruins for over fifty years, utilizing various methods, and chucking everything difficult to handle into the trash site.
Nuclear Pollutants, ancient pathogens, highly toxic Mutant Beasts... all sorts of bizarre things can be found!
Those who survive here for over ten years either have great luck or some unique Constitution.
"Wish I could pick up some extremely rare metal one day." Old Li sighed while gazing at the sky.
Old Sun laughed, "You’re dreaming about a pie falling from the sky."
"Why not, can’t a man dream... Whoa!" Old Li suddenly jumped up, excitedly looking at the sky, "Old Sun! A pie really fell from the sky! No, that’s a person!"
"You must be so sick you’re hallucinating, right? The airship has left, how can anything else fall from the sky?" Old Sun mocked, then lifted his head and abruptly widened his eyes.
"Whoa!"
"Boom!"
The figure crashed heavily onto a nearby trash mountain, stirring up a cloud of dust.
The two scavengers looked at each other.
"What do you say, go check it out?" Old Li hesitated.
Even the more experienced Old Sun was momentarily indecisive.
Although unsure why this body fell slower than the other trash, any biological corpse was typically high-risk, high-reward.
A living body may carry some personal Relic, but also bore a higher chance of dangerous pathogens compared to mechanical objects.
Also, the high reward was merely relative; truly valuable items would have been thoroughly searched and removed before being discarded.
As the two hesitated, a figure quickly rushed towards the point of impact.
"That girl really isn’t afraid of death. Even the Constitution of a Holy Blooder can’t fend off some ancient pathogens." Old Sun shook his head, "Since she’s heading over, let’s not join the mess."
"Is it necessary? Falling from such a height, anyone would be smashed into pulp, these corpses—"
