Chapter 151: Is he even human?

Sasha wanted to step out and apologise again, hoping that a sincere apology might help repair the damage she had caused, only for her to sense several cold gazes from afar, causing her to freeze up before she could even take another step towards the door.

It seemed like others had overheard their one-sided conversation, and judging by the way those gazes were fixed on her, she had a feeling that they weren’t particularly pleased with what she had done to their master.

From afar, she felt Vanessa, Hana, and the lightning wolves’ cold gazes all pinned on her, making it difficult for her to even consider stepping outside when the creatures seemed ready to react the moment she tried to approach the shelter where Osborne had gone to rest.

Vanessa and Hana, who had ignored her presence earlier, now showed hints of hostility, their expressions making it clear that whatever opinion they had formed of her had changed after witnessing how she had upset the person they served.

No, to be fair, they were simply warning her not to take a step out of that shelter, and although Sasha couldn’t understand why they were so protective of Osborne, she had no intention of finding out what would happen if she chose to ignore their warning.

Realising there was nothing she could do for the time being, Sasha begrudgingly went back into the shelter, her head slightly lowered, regret lingering on her face as she decided that the best thing she could do was remain where she was and hope that Osborne would eventually stop being angry with her.

The next day...

Sasha yawned as she gradually woke up, her body feeling a little stiff after spending the night on an uncomfortable wooden bunk bed, before she slowly sat up straight and rubbed her groggy eyes while taking in her surroundings.

"Y-You’re here?" Sasha asked in surprise when she noticed Osborne standing next to a bunk bed in her shelter, causing her to straighten her back almost immediately as she wondered how long he had been standing there and whether she had kept him waiting.

"Good, you’re finally awake," Osborne said before tossing her a new change of clothes, his tone remaining as calm as ever despite what had happened the previous night, "Get dressed so we can leave. We don’t have all day."

’Is he still upset regarding yesterday~’ she thought to herself upon noticing his impatient tone, unable to tell whether he was genuinely annoyed with her or simply eager to get moving, since his armour made it impossible for her to read his expression.

Osborne quietly stepped outside, leaving Sasha alone to change her clothes, and although she wanted to ask him a few questions about their destination, she decided against it for the time being, not wanting to risk upsetting him again after the trouble she had caused herself the night before.

Shortly after, Sasha stepped outside as well, now dressed in leather clothing that gave her a cute yet tomboyish appearance.

She saw Osborne standing next to a lightning wolf, the demonic beast spared her a short glance before retracting its gaze, seemingly uninterested in the new person who had appeared before it.

"Where is everyone?" Sasha noticed that Vanessa, Hana, and the other lightning wolves were nowhere to be found, causing her to look around in confusion as she wondered whether they had left during the night without her noticing.

"I sent them ahead," Osborne said before gesturing towards the lightning wolf standing beside him, indicating that the creature would be accompanying them on their journey back to town.

But in truth, he had simply sent them back into his sub-space, since there was no reason to keep all of them outside when they could easily be brought out whenever he needed their assistance.

In this world, there were magical artifacts capable of storing items within a separate space, but as far as Osborne knew, there were none capable of storing humans, which was why he had sent Vanessa, Hana, and the other lightning wolves away before Sasha awakened.

After all, he couldn’t afford to let her discover that he possessed an ability that was far beyond what ordinary magical artifacts could achieve, especially when he had already decided to keep his demonification a secret from her.

"Get on, you’ll be riding back," he said, pointing towards the lightning wolf before turning his attention towards the road ahead, as though he had already decided how they would be travelling.

Sasha blinked her eyes before asking, "But what about you?"

"You don’t need to worry about me," Osborne said dismissively, seeing no reason to explain something that should have been obvious to her, "Now hurry up."

"Alright..." Sasha didn’t want to upset him again, so she nodded her head and obediently approached the lightning wolf, hoping that following his instructions would prevent her from making another mistake.

She first approached the beast, although even with Osborne standing nearby, she still felt quite nervous as she grew closer to the enormous creature, whose sharp claws and powerful body reminded her that it was a demonic beast capable of tearing an ordinary person apart without much effort.

When the beast turned to look at her, her heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively slowed her steps while wondering whether it would allow her to climb onto its back without trying to bite her.

"Pardon me~ but is this really safe—" Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly found herself being lifted off the ground and placed atop the back of the beast, by Osborne, whose strength made the entire process seem as effortless as picking up a small child.

Sasha hurriedly grabbed onto its fur, her eyes widening as she looked down at the ground beneath her, and although she wanted to complain about being lifted without warning, she eventually swallowed her words after remembering what happened last night.

"There, now let’s go," Osborne said before suddenly breaking into a sprint, leaving Sasha with no time to ask him any more questions as his armoured figure rapidly moved away from the shelter.
