Clawdeth seemed to have noticed earlier than he did, yet stopped right after.

" What would you like me to do my lord..." She asked but he didn’t answer.

His eyes were fixed on the tunnel ahead.

A figure slowly emerged from the darkness.

Brunette hair, Beautiful features, matched with a cold yet stunning gaze.

The new comer was none other than Vanessa.

She stopped the moment she saw them.

Her eyes widened as she already knew but found it hard to believe.

For the first time since Osborne had encountered her, genuine surprise appeared on her face.

She looked at Clawdeth.

Then at Osborne.

Her gaze focusing intensely on him.

"...You?"

Osborne’s eyes narrowed.

Vanessa stared at him as though she were seeing a completely different person.

"So you’re the one who was causing all this trouble."

Her voice was quiet. But the shock behind it was obvious.

Vanessa couldn’t understand what she was seeing.

How could it be him?

She had never once sensed anything demonic from Osborne.

Aside from that nasty temperament of his, there had been nothing that would have made her suspect that he was anything other than a human. ℯℯ𝑙.

She had even considered him rather insignificant.

Yet now, standing in front of her was the same man.

But everything about him was different.

His gaze, presence and body.

Vanessa’s expression became colder.

’How could I have missed it?’

She stared at Osborne.

’I never sensed any demonic signs from him.’

’Not even once.’

’Was he hiding it?’

Before Vanessa could think any further, Osborne suddenly moved.

His body shot forward without warning.

Before reaching her, his right hand was already burning hot as he rushed toward her.

Vanessa’s eyes widened.

She instinctively moved her head to the side.

Osborne immediately clutched his abdomen.

A sharp pain ran through his body.

He held back a groan.

’That attack was strong...’

Very strong. He was expecting her to be at least on the level of the beta but this was something else.

’ Does this mean there’s more than one alpha here?’ just thinking about it had him feeling annoyed.

He slowly raised his head.

Vanessa stood several meters away.

She hadn’t even taken a step backward.

Her expression was completely cold now.

"Who sent you?"

Osborne said nothing.

Vanessa’s eyes narrowed.

"Was this some sort of test?"

Osborne’s expression changed slightly.

’Test? What’s she going on about?’ He stared at her, wondering who she was talking about?

Vanessa continued.

"Did they send you here to test us?"

Osborne sneered.

"Perhaps."

His answer was deliberately vague.

But inwardly, his thoughts were already moving.

’ Who are these people she’s talking about?’

’Is she referring to whoever is behind all of this?’

’ Perhaps there’s someone who granted the McClain’s the power of the demons?’

Osborne kept his eyes on Vanessa.

He didn’t know who she was talking about yet.

But if Vanessa believed someone had sent them here to test her family, then perhaps he could use that misunderstanding to learn more.

Unfortunately, Vanessa wasn’t buying it.

Her expression became annoyed.

’There is no way they would send someone like him to test us.’ She looked Osborne up and down.

He was clearly stronger than he had been before.

But compared to what she knew was hidden beneath this estate, his strength was still far too low.

’How dare he lie to my face...’ Vanessa’s eyes became colder.

She also believed that there was no way the Marquess would send people this weak. Knowing her hatreds for demons, it wouldn’t be surprising for her to come here herself.

Her gaze lingered on Osborne’s claws.

And that only made her more irritated.

No matter what she thought, he was a demon, no less.

She had initially believed Clawdeth was responsible.

But if Osborne was actually the one who had been causing all this trouble...

Thinking back to her time with him in her bedroom, she felt like she’d been used.

Had she been playing to his Fidel all this time, she thought to herself, feeling so stupid. To think someone like him had been leading them on like marenets on a string.

Vanessa looked at Clawdeth.

Then back at Osborne, her flawless expression darkening.

"I don’t know who sent you." She said, her voice even more cold.

"And honestly, I don’t care."

Osborne’s eyes narrowed.

Vanessa took a step forward.

"You’ve already come this far." She said, Her blue eyes becoming sharp.

"So there’s no point in asking you to turn back."

Osborne remained silent.

His body was still tense from the previous attack.

His abdomen hurt, but the pain was already beginning to fade.

Vanessa noticed the way he was standing.

She could tell he was injured.

Yet he still had that irritating look in his eyes.

That same look she had come to hate.

Vanessa slowly raised her hand.

"Unfortunately for you..."

Her fingers curled into a gouging gesture.

"...you’ve reached the end of the road."The pressure around her body began to rise.

Osborne immediately became alert.

His eyes narrowed.

Vanessa stared directly at the two of them.

"You both can forget about leaving here alive." She said coldly. The atmosphere inside the tunnel suddenly became heavy.

"Is that so?" Even when faced with her pressure, Osborne seemed unaffected, after all, he had faced far worse, his wife was a prime example.

Osborne’s eyes remained fixed on Vanessa for a moment before he slowly turned his head toward Clawdeth.
