Chapter 1090: Chapter 509: Who Wins, Who Loses

Lawrence Winters quickly turned on the television, and it was still on the local news channel from last time.

Sure enough, the "breaking news" was already prominently displayed in the top right corner of the news channel.

It was the same blonde-haired, blue-eyed female reporter, standing solemnly in the parking lot in front of a building, clutching a microphone and speaking excitedly into the camera: "...The tragedy occurred in the building behind me. This is the Mason Building in the Arcadia City business district. There are dozens of companies in this building, and today’s incident occurred at Arcadia City Commercial Loan Bank. The owner of this bank, Mr. Isaac York, has just had his throat cut with a paper cutter."

"Now let’s take a look at the scene."

Next, the television camera shifted to the office space of the commercial bank inside the building.

This is not a bank branch, but the headquarters.

The entrance is now cordoned off with yellow tape, indicating a police zone.

Heavily armed police officers stood at the entrance, while doctors and nurses in white coats hurried back and forth.

A thin person with a black cloth bag over their head, with arms twisted behind their back, was escorted out by two female officers.

The reporters waiting outside rushed forward, holding up microphones and asking, "Is this person a murder suspect? Can you explain how the attack took place?"

Lawrence Winters looked at the figure and thought it should be Miss Diana.

The female officers answered only to ask reporters to step back and not obstruct official duties.

A chubby middle-aged white man also emerged from inside, who Lawrence Winters had seen at the Fortunate Gate Restaurant that day, Diana’s lawyer.

He was speaking to the reporters outside, saying, "Please stay away from my client; she has a severe mental illness."

Which implied, if you get injured by a mental patient, you’re on your own.

His words quickly made the reporters scatter, snapping a path open.

The female officers escorted the person towards the elevator, with the white lawyer following them in.

The news anchor, seeing that the situation there had reached a stopping point, said, "We contacted the building management and obtained surveillance footage from the scene of the crime."

Immediately, the image on the television became blurry, no longer in high definition, because the surveillance footage wasn’t high definition.

Yet everyone could clearly discern what had transpired.

Lawrence Winters widened his eyes, watching Diana stride into the entrance of the commercial bank headquarters, wearing sunglasses and a large sunhat, speaking a few words at the front desk, after which the receptionist made a call.

Before long, the receptionist led Diana inside.

The scene shifted to Diana standing at the entrance to the president’s office of this commercial bank.

She glanced at the nameplate by the door, waiting for the secretary at the door to call the president inside.

After another wait, the door to the president’s office finally opened, and Diana walked in.

Up to this point, everything seemed normal.

But after entering, she didn’t sit down; instead, she walked straight up to the desk, stopped, and spoke a few words to Isaac York seated behind the desk.

Isaac York’s attitude was arrogant, as he leaned back in his office chair, slightly swiveling and twirling a pen in his hand, with a touch of disdain on his lips.

He opened his mouth and slowly articulated a sentence.

Since the camera was directly facing him, Lawrence Winters was able to read his lips.

He was saying: "...So what if Diana Thomas died like a dog? — Now it’s your turn to play hero? Who do you think you are? It’s none of your damn business!"

This sentence completely enraged Miss Diana.

She casually picked up a paper cutter from the desk, leaned over, and forcefully swung her arm horizontally toward Isaac York’s throat with a swift motion!

The blade was so sharp that under the room’s lighting, it flashed like a streak of white light!

Immediately, a jet of bright red blood spurted from Isaac York’s throat, spraying all over Diana’s face...

Lawrence Winters was dumbfounded.

Is it really appropriate to broadcast such a gory scene on a live news program?

The news anchor appeared equally shocked, evidently not expecting the surveillance footage to capture something so gruesome and terrifying.

She was stunned for a whole minute before regaining her composure and hastily instructing the crew to switch the camera view.

The shocking scene still lingered on viewers’ retinas.

Lawrence Winters felt that everything he saw now seemed tinged with red, unable to shake the image.

The female news anchor patted her chest, visibly shaken, and said: "That was terrifying! Absolutely terrifying! What could drive a seemingly gentle woman to wield a blade? What is her relationship with Mr. York? Let’s connect to our on-site reporter, Melissa."
