Author’s pov~

The vault was quiet, cold, and dead.

The four princes predatory instincts flaring before the figure stepped out of the shadows. The massive doors had been sealed, leaving only the four princes and the Dowager Luna inside.

The four Lycan Princes stood at attention immediately, their tall, massive frames stiffening as their matriarch approached.

Their eyes were sharp.

But none of them looked away from the woman standing before them.

Dowager Luna Gwen.

She had come without warning.

And whenever Gwen entered the Vault herself, it meant something serious was about to happen.

The matriarch of the Second Throne stood tall, her silver-streaked hair pulled back into a severe knot, her eyes holding the terrifying weight of centuries. The four royal heirs, Raven, Keiran, Blake, and Zyran, stood shoulder to shoulder, their dominant auras clashing, yet they instinctively gave a respectful bow to the elder.

Gwen looked around the room, her gaze sweeping over them before she spoke.

"The family dinner was arranged by me," Dowager Luna Gwen said, breaking the silence with her sharp, terrifying voice.

Raven took a slow step forward, his dark eyes fixed on his grandmother.

"Why? Raven demanded, his voice dropping into a lethal, rumbling growl.

"You know she rejected my blood. And you know she is my fated mate. What are you really planning? If the other thrones find out that she is a wolfless, scentless rogue, the council will demand her head. They will execute her without a second thought."

Before Raven could finish, the alpha dowager sharply cut him off.

"No one is going to execute her," Gwen said, her voice dropping into a chilling, dead-cold tone that made even the bravest wolves shudder. "Not unless I am buried down six feet under and dead."

Raven’s jaw clenched, but he stayed silent.

The vault fell entirely silent. Gwen took a slow step forward, her sharp eyes locking onto Raven.

"About the family dinner, I arranged it after I was sure she rejected your blood and that she was your fated mate," Gwen continued, her voice steady and calculating. "I wanted to introduce her to everyone as your mate and arrange the formal mating ceremony."

Raven’s eyes narrowed.

Mating Ceremony?

He had wanted that.

More than he should have.

He had imagined Adeline standing beside him.

Wearing his mark.

Carrying his name.

"But now... I can’t do that."

Gwen slowly turned her gaze toward Keiran.

"Now that her body has rejected Keiran’s royal blood as well... everything has become complicated."

Her voice became quieter.

"And that changes everything."

Gwen said, her voice dropping into a dangerous whisper. "You all know what that means, don’t you?"

Every single prince went completely still. Their jaws clenched, their eyes darkening as their gazes fixed intently on the dowager luna.

Raven exhaled slowly, the terrifying realisation finally tearing past his lips.

"The Sovereign Mate," Raven murmured.

Dowager Luna Gwen gave a slow, grim nod. "So, you all put the pieces together. Good."

The existence of a Sovereign Mate was not a simple matter.

It was a forgotten legend.

A bloodline.

A power that had disappeared centuries ago.

The entire Lycan race believed the Queen’s blood had ended.

With the four princes.

With the sons of the First Lycan King.

But the daughter...

The daughter of the First Lycan King and Queen...

Had supposedly died long ago.

Gwen crossed her arms, her expression turning darker.

"But we still don’t know for sure," she warned them, her eyes narrowing. "Since, the entire Lycan race knows that the First Queen’s pure bloodline ended with her four sons. Everyone knows the fifth child, the daughter of the First King and Queen had died, buried, and was forgotten centuries ago."

Blake stepped forward, his brow furrowed in deep frustration and confusion.

"So what does this mean?" Blake asked, his voice sharp. "She is mated to two princes already, and that means she is mated to all four princes, but she isn’t supposed to carry the Queen’s blood? Then what is this?""

Dowager Luna Gwen shook her head slowly.

"I’m not sure," Gwen answered honestly. "We can’t tell for certain... what she is or why her body rejected the blood of two Thrones, and we certainly can’t tell why the Moon Goddess would bring her into your lives."

Gwen’s voice lowered.

"We can only know the truth when her wolf wakes up."

Zyran, who had been listening from the dark corner of the vault, pushed himself away from the wall. His dark eyes burned with a reckless, consuming fire as he stepped forward.

"But that doesn’t change the fact that she is mated to all four of us, does it?" Zyran asked, his voice low, rough, and ringing with absolute possession.

"Queen’s blood or not... she belongs to us. Am I right? She is mated to all four of us."

Raven looked at Zyran.

There was something almost warning in his eyes.

Keiran remained silent.

Blake’s brows pulled together.

But Zyran didn’t back down.

He wasn’t asking out of curiosity.

He was demanding an answer.

Because whatever she was...

Whatever blood ran through her veins...

Whatever secret had been buried with the First Queen...

He already knew one thing.

His wolf had chosen her.

And he would not allow anyone to take that choice away.

The air in the vault grew suffocating. Every breath caught in their throats. All four princes turned back toward the matriarch, holding their breath, waiting for her final answer.

Dowager Luna Gwen took a deep, heavy breath, closed her eyes for a brief second, and spoke..

"History repeats itself," Gwen spoke, her voice echoing off, cold and heavy with the weight of centuries. "Again."

"And this time, it makes everything far more complicated."

She took a slow, deliberate step toward the centre of the vault, her sharp, unyielding eyes locking onto each of the Princes.

"She is already mated to two of you." Her gaze moved between Raven and Keiran.

"And in our royal bloodline, a fated bond never stops halfway."

She paused.

"It has always followed one law."

Her voice became firm.

"One to one."

She looked at the four princes.

"Or one to four. So yes."

Gwen’s eyes hardened.

"She is mated to all four of you."

Raven’s fingers curled into fists.

He had already accepted that she was his.

But hearing those words made something inside him burn.

All four?

His wolf snarled at the thought.

She was his mate.

His.

Yet fate had tied her to other Three Thrones too.

He hated it.

But he couldn’t deny it.

Gwen continued. "It doesn’t matter who she is."

Her gaze moved across their faces.

"It doesn’t matter what blood runs through her veins. It doesn’t matter what kind of wolf is sleeping inside her. Whether she awakens as a simple omega..."

She paused.

"...or carries royal blood."

Her voice dropped. "The bond is absolute."

Zyran finally spoke.

"Then she belongs to all four Thrones."

His voice was calm. But there was something dangerous beneath it.

Gwen looked at him.

"Yes."

Zyran’s eyes darkened. He didn’t smile. He didn’t argue. But somewhere deep inside him, his wolf had already accepted the truth.

She was theirs.

All four of them.

Gwen’s expression turned colder.

"But that isn’t what you should be worried about."

The four princes fell silent.

"What really matters right now isn’t her blood."

She took another step forward.

"Nor is it the wolf sleeping inside her." Her voice dropped into a dark whisper.

"It is what happened the last time this occurred."

Raven’s eyes narrowed.

Keiran slowly lifted his gaze.

Blake looked completely fazed.

Zyran’s expression became completely still.

Gwen continued. "The ancient records speak of a female bound to all four royal lines, and when she appeared..."

"The four Thrones did not unite. They turned against one another. Possession. Jealousy. Power. Pride."

She let each word sink into them.

"The four Thrones went to war. They tore the world apart. All four thrones went to war, drowning the empire in blood, jealousy, and total slaughter."

Gwen continued. "She is already bonded to two of you."

Her gaze moved from Raven to Keiran.

"And the bond says she belongs to all four."

She looked at Blake.

"At this moment, the four of you are still standing together."

Then she turned toward Zyran.

"But what happens when your wolves begin to demand more?"

No one answered.

"What happens when one of you refuses to share?"

Raven’s eyes flashed.

"What happens when jealousy becomes stronger than brotherhood?"

Keiran’s hands slowly clenched.

"What happens when one of you decides she should belong to him alone?"

Blake looked toward Raven.

Zyran’s eyes turned colder.

Gwen’s final words struck harder than any threat.

"What happens when the four Thrones become enemies again?"

"So the real question isn’t something you should ask me. The real question is one you must ask yourselves. She doesn’t belong to one throne alone but belongs to the entire empire. And all four of you will have to share her... or tear this world apart refusing to share her. So, what is it?"

"Are you four truly ready to share her as your fated mate?"
