Chapter 1771: A Small Eye

Chapter 1771: A Small Eye

Caroline stared at him in disbelief. "He is forcing his way through the beam."

The Abyssal Witch Eye released a silent pulse of fear.

Its pupil contracted.

But it was too late.

Max suddenly disappeared.

The Vein of Speed erupted, and his figure crossed the remaining distance in an instant. He appeared directly before the huge central eye, Dragonheart raised above his head, the first four Divine Veins burning through his body, and the Severing Sword Concept condensed to the edge of his blade.

The Abyssal Witch Eye tried to fire again at point-blank range.

Max slashed first.

The sword descended.

A brilliant line cut through the massive pupil.

The red light inside the eye split apart, the cursed veins across its spherical body burst one after another, and the entire creature trembled violently as the slash continued downward, severing its body from top to bottom.

The smaller eyes at the ends of its tendrils exploded into red mist, and the huge spherical body released a soundless scream that made the air tremble.

Then the Abyssal Witch Eye split in two.

For a moment, its two halves floated on either side of Max, still glowing with cursed red light.

Then they began to dissolve.

The monster’s body broke apart into dark ash, red sparks, and fragments of cursed energy that scattered into the air before being swallowed by the rules of the Cosmic Ascension Conference. A massive stream of Killing Points emerged from the remains, far brighter and denser than the fragments left by ordinary enemies, and surged toward Max.

Max landed softly at the entrance of Witch God Valley.

The first four Divine Veins slowly dimmed, but the overwhelming physical pressure around him did not disappear immediately. Cracks covered the ground beneath his feet, and Dragonheart remained lowered in his hand, its blade still releasing faint smoke from having cut through the deadly beam.

Behind him, Caroline, Jessica, Nancy, and the others stood frozen.

The guardian of Witch God Valley, the cursed pet of the ancient Witch, the Abyssal Witch Eye that had nearly killed Jessica with one beam and blasted Max away with its first attack, had been cut down by Max after he opened only four Divine Veins.

Max looked at the fading remains of the eye creature, then glanced toward the path beyond the entrance.

"Now," he said calmly, "we can leave."

Just as the Abyssal Witch Eye was destroyed and everyone felt a wave of relief rise in their hearts, the atmosphere at the entrance of Witch God Valley changed once again.

Jessica let out a long breath and looked at Max with eyes full of shock and admiration, while the other third faction elves could barely hide the joy on their faces after seeing the guardian of the valley finally fall.

Even Caroline, whose expression had remained heavy for so long, allowed a trace of relief to appear in her eyes. For a brief moment, it felt as if the worst part was already over. The path ahead was finally open, and with Max standing at the front, the group truly believed they could leave the cursed valley.

But just when everyone was preparing to move, a strange red-black glimmer suddenly flickered among the scattered remains of the Abyssal Witch Eye.

Max noticed it first.

His Dimensional Sovereign Body immediately sensed something subtle and sinister moving through space, but before he could react, that glimmer shot out from the dissolving ashes of the giant eye creature and appeared right beside him.

In the next instant, a small eye, almost identical in appearance to the Abyssal Witch Eye but only the size of Max’s fist, floated in the air for a brief moment before sticking itself directly onto Max’s shoulder like a living parasite.

The small eye was blood-red and black, with a vertical pupil that blinked slowly, and thin dark veins spread outward from its base the moment it attached itself to him.

It did not release an overwhelming aura like the giant guardian had, yet the sight of it was far more unsettling because of how unnatural and intimate it looked, as if the curse of the Witch itself had chosen Max as its new host.

Max’s brows furrowed instantly.

He reached out with one hand and tried to tear it off.

But the moment his fingers touched the small eye, he felt a strange resistance, as if it was not truly attached to his flesh, but to something deeper. It looked like it was sitting on his shoulder, yet when he tried to grab it, the eye blurred strangely and remained exactly where it was, neither falling away nor allowing itself to be held properly.

Jessica’s expression changed. "What is that?"

Nancy’s face became serious. "It came from the remains of the guardian."

Max’s eyes turned colder. Without hesitation, he tried again. This time he used far more force, his fingers tightening with enough strength to crush stone and metal alike, but no matter how much pressure he applied, the small eye did not break. It remained attached to him, blinking slowly, as if mocking his effort.

"This thing is tough." Max’s expression darkened.

Then he activated the first four Divine Veins again.

The Vein of Origin opened first, anchoring his body with terrifying stability. The Vein of Vitality followed, flooding his flesh and blood with violent life force. The Vein of Strength awakened next, causing the ground beneath his feet to crack once again, while the Vein of Speed sharpened his reactions and made the surrounding air tremble faintly.

The moment all four Divine Veins were open, Max’s physical power rose to a terrifying level once more.

Caroline and the others immediately stepped back.

Even though he was only focusing his strength into one hand, the pressure around him was still enormous. The bark beneath his feet splintered, the air around his arm distorted visibly, and the muscles beneath his sleeve tightened with explosive force as if a dragon’s body had been compressed into human shape. Max then placed his hand over the small eye and tried to crush it directly.
