Chapter 1783: Dealing with Selene First!
Chapter 1783: Dealing with Selene First!
Max then turned to look at Selene.
The golden radiance around her was still bright, and the vast image of Heavenly Luminance Genesis had not fully vanished behind her, but anyone with sharp eyes could already see the truth. The sacred palaces of light in her Pseudo Cosmic Path were flickering.
The golden rivers flowing through the radiant domain were breaking apart into unstable fragments. Even the divine sun wheel behind her had become dimmer than before, and the Spear of First Dawn she had unleashed had drained far more of her strength than she wanted others to notice.
Max looked at her calmly.
"I won, right?"
Selene’s eyes turned colder.
Max continued before she could answer, his voice spreading clearly across the base of the Witch God Tree. "You are already trembling from the use of your Pseudo Cosmic Path. And as Caroline said, you cannot maintain this form for too long. You are barely holding on."
The moment those words came out, many people finally noticed Selene’s condition.
Her fingers were indeed trembling slightly. Her breathing had become heavier, and although she stood straight with the pride of the Divine Daughter, her aura was no longer as stable as before.
The Pseudo Cosmic Path of Heavenly Luminance Genesis was terrifyingly powerful, but that power came at an equally terrifying cost. It could overwhelm most enemies in a short period of time, yet if the first few attacks failed to secure victory, the burden would turn against Selene herself.
Caroline’s expression became serious. "He is right. Her path is weakening."
Seraphine’s face changed. "Divine Daughter..."
Fin’s expression also became ugly, because the confidence he had felt when Selene unleashed her strongest path had disappeared the moment Max emerged from the dust without a single injury.
Even after being bound by the roots of the Witch God Tree and struck directly by Selene’s strongest attack, Max was still standing there unharmed, covered in golden-black dragon scales, while Selene was the one who had exhausted a great amount of power.
Selene gritted her teeth.
"Do not act as if this is over."
Her voice was cold, but there was now a trace of strain hidden inside it. She raised both hands again, and the weakened Heavenly Luminance Genesis behind her trembled violently as she forcefully tried to gather another wave of golden-white radiance.
The twelve halos around her reappeared, though they were no longer as solid as before, and sacred weapons of light began to form inside them once more. Even in her weakened state, Selene still refused to retreat.
She was the Divine Daughter of the second faction. She had been trained by the Bloodline Hall and the ancestors. She could not accept defeat before so many geniuses, especially not against Caelira’s son.
Max looked at her and shook his head slightly.
"You should have stopped."
Selene’s eyes flashed with anger. "I have not lost."
"Then I will make it clearer."
Just as Max said those words, his Vein of Speed came to life.
The air around him twisted.
The next instant, his figure vanished from where he stood.
Selene’s pupils contracted.
Fast.
Too fast.
Even with her Heavenly Luminance Genesis still active, even with her golden eyes strengthened by her royal bloodline, she could barely catch the trace of Max’s movement. One moment he was standing several dozen meters away, and in the next, he had appeared right before her, the golden-black scales on his body reflecting the dim light of her collapsing Pseudo Cosmic Path.
His speed was not just ordinary movement. It was the explosive burst of the Vein of Speed combined with his terrifying physical foundation, making him cross the distance like a dragon tearing through space.
Selene reacted instantly.
Despite her shock, her combat instinct was worthy of the Divine Daughter.
A radiant shield formed in front of her chest. Then a second shield appeared. Then a third. Golden-white light surged around her, forming overlapping barriers shaped like divine lotus petals, sacred mirrors, and bloodline runic circles. The remnants of Heavenly Luminance Genesis also gathered around her body, trying to turn the space between her and Max into a protected domain of light.
But Max was faster.
The moment he appeared before her, the Vein of Strength awakened inside his body.
Boom!
His muscles tightened beneath the golden-black dragon scales, and the pressure released from his flesh alone caused the light around Selene to shake violently.
Then five thousand Draconic Essences erupted through him at the same time, pouring into his arm like the condensed might of an ancient dragon. The power gathered in his fist was devastating, heavy, and brutally simple, without the elegance of sword arts or the mystic complexity of Pseudo Cosmic Paths.
It was pure destruction.
Selene’s expression changed completely.
"Wait..."
Max punched.
Bang!
His fist slammed into Selene’s defensive shield.
The first radiant barrier exploded instantly.
The second shattered before it could even release its full power.
The third cracked apart like thin glass beneath a mountain’s weight.
The divine lotus petals broke. The sacred mirrors burst. The bloodline runic circles collapsed one after another, and the remaining light of Heavenly Luminance Genesis was crushed under the overwhelming combination of the Vein of Strength and five thousand Draconic Essences.
Selene’s eyes widened in disbelief as every defense she had raised was destroyed in a single instant.
Then Max’s fist reached her.
The impact struck her body head-on.
For a fraction of a second, the entire battlefield became silent.
Selene’s golden eyes stared at Max from only a few inches away, still filled with shock, unwillingness, and disbelief. She had never imagined that after revealing Heavenly Luminance Genesis, after using one of the strongest Pseudo Cosmic Paths of the second faction, after forcing Max to reveal his dragon scales, she would be taken out by one punch.
But Max’s power had already passed through every defense she possessed, and there was nothing left to protect her.
Her body shattered into light.
Golden cracks spread across her form.
Then, with a burst of radiant fragments, Selene Vaeloria, the Divine Daughter of the second faction, disappeared from the battlefield and turned into a dense stream of Killing Points that surged toward Max.
The golden light vanished.
Her Heavenly Luminance Genesis collapsed.
The sacred palaces, divine rivers, sun wheel, and radiant halos all broke apart like an illusion being destroyed by force, leaving only scattered motes of light drifting through the air before they faded completely.
For a long moment, no one spoke.
The second faction elves stared blankly at the empty place where Selene had stood.
Seraphine’s face turned deathly pale.
Fin took an unconscious step back.
Caroline, Jessica, Nancy, and the third faction elves were equally stunned, even though they had already seen Max do impossible things inside Witch God Valley.
This was different. Selene was not Lumine. She was not Arnold. She was not even Seraphine or Fin. She was the Divine Daughter, one of the strongest geniuses of the second faction, yet Max had ended her the moment he chose to stop playing defense.
Rosaline’s eyes narrowed deeply.
Morgana’s expression became much more serious.
Kaiden Voidmere remained silent, but the space around him rippled once.
Orion Starfall let out a slow breath, and the excitement in his eyes grew even stronger.
At the center of everyone’s gaze, Max slowly lowered his fist.
The golden-black dragon scales still covered his body, and faint seven-colored lightning flickered around him. The small cursed eye attached to his left shoulder blinked silently, as if it too had witnessed the fall of the Divine Daughter.
Dragonheart remained in his other hand, but he had not even needed to use it to finish Selene.
