Chapter 711 - 710: Appraising Ancient Pills

Chapter 711: Chapter 710: Appraising Ancient Pills

After getting a thorough beating, Lu Tao immediately became docile. He ordered someone to carry the young man away, then came over to his sister with a fawning smile, sat down, and said flatteringly.

"Sis, what brings you here? Why didn’t you let me know you were coming?"

"Get out. Go and get Guan Renjie for me," Lu Bingning replied coldly.

Hearing Lu Bingning’s words, Lu Tao quickly nodded in agreement. He then walked out of the room with his swollen face. Before long, Lu Tao returned with Guan Renjie.

Once they had both arrived, Lin Yun chatted with them for a bit. It was clear that Lu Tao and Guan Renjie were doing quite well for themselves at the Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild; at the very least, the guards there were very obedient to them.

Lin Yun and his group had forced their way up from the first floor, but with a single word from Lu Tao, the guards from the Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild had left.

After some small talk, Lin Yun asked Lu Bingning and the others to wait for him there. He, along with the Qingfeng Saint and the Flowing Water Saint, would go find the person in charge of the Eastern Domain for the Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild.

The head of the Eastern Domain Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild was an Earth Level Nine-Stars Alchemist known as Master Chen. He had the final say in all matters concerning the guild in the entire Eastern Domain.

When Lu Tao and Guan Renjie heard that Lin Yun was going to see Master Chen, Guan Renjie spoke up. "Young Master Lin, Master Chen is usually very reclusive and rarely seen. Even the two of us have a hard time getting an audience with him. Why don’t I go find my master first and have him make an introduction?"

As the person in charge of the Eastern Domain, it was natural that Master Chen wasn’t someone you could meet just by asking. Guan Renjie’s words made sense. Over the years, the master of Guan Renjie and Lu Tao had also made great progress, becoming one of Master Chen’s right-hand men—the second-in-command of the Eastern Domain Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild—in just a few years.

However, upon hearing Guan Renjie, Lin Yun just smiled. "It’s fine. Master Chen will definitely see us."

Guan Renjie and Lu Tao couldn’t sense the cultivation of the Qingfeng Saint or the Flowing Water Saint at all, nor did they know that the two people by Lin Yun’s side were actually Saints. Hearing Lin Yun’s confidence, they could only nod. Still, Lu Tao and Guan Renjie volunteered to lead Lin Yun to Master Chen’s location.

Lin Yun didn’t refuse their offer. Lu Tao arranged for Lu Bingning and the others to wait in his room, while Lin Yun and the four with him went up to the fourth floor to find Master Chen.

The fourth floor also consisted of individual rooms, but there were only three in total. From Lu Tao and Guan Renjie’s explanation, Lin Yun learned that two of the rooms belonged to their respective masters, while the largest one was Master Chen’s.

They made their way to the door of Master Chen’s room, where a guard on duty stopped them. Seeing this, the Qingfeng Saint stepped forward and said calmly, "Tell Master Chen that Qingfeng of the Celestial Spirit Auction House has come to call."

Hearing the Qingfeng Saint’s words, the guard didn’t make things difficult. He simply turned around and went inside to announce them. After a short wait, the door was opened, and an old man with graying hair walked out.

Although the old man looked to be in his seventies or eighties, his complexion was rosy. Upon seeing the Qingfeng Saint, the old man laughed heartily. "Qingfeng Saint, what an honor. Forgive this old man for not coming out to welcome you. How rude of me."

Master Chen’s cultivation was only at Spirit Realm Great Success, yet he spoke to the Qingfeng Saint as an equal. This was the advantage of being an Alchemist. Even if your cultivation was lacking, the title of an Earth Level Nine-Stars Alchemist alone was enough to stand on equal footing with an Earth Saint Realm Saint.

"Haha, Brother Chen, you’re too kind. Look who else is here," the Qingfeng Saint also laughed, then gestured to the Flowing Water Saint behind him.

"Eh? The Flowing Water Saint..." Seeing the Flowing Water Saint, Master Chen was clearly taken aback. And from his reaction, it seemed he was even a little wary of the Flowing Water Saint.

After greeting both Saints, Master Chen finally noticed the three people behind them. Master Chen didn’t recognize Lin Yun, but he was very familiar with Lu Tao and Guan Renjie.

These two were currently the most talented young men in the Eastern Domain Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild. Seeing them together with the Qingfeng Saint, Master Chen’s gaze quickly fell upon Lin Yun.

At this, the Qingfeng Saint introduced Lin Yun to Master Chen. The fact that the Qingfeng Saint addressed Lin Yun as "Young Master Lin" was enough to startle Master Chen.

The Qingfeng Saint and the Flowing Water Saint were both addressing a young man as "Young Master Lin." And by the looks of it, they followed his lead in all matters.

It wasn’t just Master Chen who was surprised; Lu Tao and Guan Renjie, who were standing to the side, were even more shocked, if not more so. Neither of them had imagined that after not seeing him for just a few short years, Lin Yun would now have Saint Guards by his side.

Inviting everyone into the room, Master Chen’s chambers were very simple. Aside from a table and a few cattail hassocks, there was almost nothing else.

Everyone sat down on the hassocks. Lin Yun looked at Master Chen and got straight to the point. "Master Chen, I’ve come today for two reasons. The first is for the Saint-Breaking Celestial Pills. The second is to ask for your help in appraising some Elixirs to determine their effects."

Hearing this, Master Chen quickly retrieved ten Jade Bottles from his Space Ring. Each bottle contained a single Saint-Breaking Celestial Pill.

Lin Yun casually picked up one of the Jade Bottles and opened the cap. Instantly, a rich medicinal fragrance wafted out. This incredibly dense aroma alone was enough to tell anyone that the Elixir within the Jade Bottle was no ordinary item.

But while everyone else found the fragrance incredibly rich, Lin Yun frowned slightly. ’The Alchemy Grandmasters of the Celestial Spirit Continent really are a bit lacking compared to those in the Divine Realm.’

’If graded by quality, this Saint-Breaking Celestial Pill could only be considered passable at best. It doesn’t even reach the level of a high-grade pill.’

’But there’s nothing to be done about it. The number of people on the Celestial Spirit Continent who can refine a Saint-Breaking Celestial Pill can probably be counted on one hand. Just successfully refining one is already a great feat.’

Putting away the ten Jade Bottles, Lin Yun took out the Elixirs that Cyan Dragon had given him. He handed them to Master Chen and said slowly, "Master Chen, this junior happened upon these Elixirs in some ancient ruins. Since I don’t know their effects, I was hoping Master Chen could help appraise them."

Hearing Lin Yun’s words, Master Chen didn’t refuse. He took the Jade Bottle from Lin Yun, but when he opened it, no medicinal fragrance escaped.

Taking one Elixir from the Jade Bottle, Master Chen began to study it intently. Lin Yun and the others didn’t disturb him, simply waiting quietly to the side.

As time passed, Master Chen’s expression grew more and more solemn, until finally, a look of ecstatic joy appeared on his face. From his reaction, the Elixir was clearly something extraordinary.

"Young Master Lin, these Elixirs you’ve obtained are incredibly remarkable. However, this old man needs to study them more closely. I wonder if you would be able to wait at the Pharmaceutical Instrument Master’s Guild for a few days?" Master Chen said, looking at Lin Yun.
