Chapter 730: Chapter 718: I Want You to Marry Me (6)

"..." Archie Lockwood chuckled disdainfully as he looked at the fingers Ms. Ross held up.

When Archie Lockwood didn’t respond, Yara Ross grew anxious. "Mr. Lockwood, for a man as wealthy as you, twenty million can’t be much, right? You’re not going to tell me you can’t even afford that? If you don’t give us twenty million, I don’t think my family and I will be going abroad."

"Heh. No, Ms. Ross, I think you’ve misunderstood," Archie Lockwood said, shaking his head with a cold smile.

’He’d expected her to make some outrageous demand, but it seemed this was the extent of it.’

Yara Ross’s expression soured. With a grim face, she asked, "Misunderstood?"

"But you were right about one thing, Ms. Ross. A man of my stature certainly wouldn’t be cheap," Archie Lockwood said, his eyes dropping to the folder in his hands as a mocking smile touched his lips.

Hearing this, Yara Ross’s eyes filled with delight. "Then, what amount did you have in mind, Mr. Lockwood?"

"Sign this contract." Archie Lockwood sneered and handed the folder to Howard Rhodes.

Howard Rhodes nodded, then placed the folder in front of Yara Ross. He spoke in a stern voice, "As long as you sign this contract, Ms. Ross, and abide by its terms—to never return to this country and, more importantly, never appear before our boss again—then this check for one billion is yours."

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... COUGH... Wh-what did you say????" One billion???? One billion???

Yara Ross shot to her feet, staring at Archie Lockwood in stunned disbelief.

In all her years, she had never seen so much money!

The Bishop Family had been well-off in the past, certainly not poor, but at the end of the day, Harold Bishop was just a government official. He couldn’t earn that kind of big money.

At most, he had a bit more power.

Seeing Ms. Ross’s shocked expression, Archie Lockwood asked with a mocking sneer, "Well? Is this amount to your satisfaction, Ms. Ross?"

"Satisfied... I’m satisfied... How could I not be..." Yara Ross was already completely mesmerized by the check, her gaze fixed on it in a daze.

"..." Watching Yara Ross’s entranced state, Howard Rhodes furrowed his brow, his expression growing dimmer.

’Was this little bit of money all it took to tempt her?’

’This Ms. Ross probably had no idea how much money their boss had already wasted on Miss Bishop.’

’In truth, their boss didn’t have to waste any more money on Miss Bishop. But he was just too kind-hearted. Even knowing this one billion would go down the drain, their boss still gave it away without batting an eye.’

Archie Lockwood’s eyes darkened as well. A sarcastic smirk played on his lips. "So, about going abroad?"

"Don’t you worry, Mr. Lockwood! Our family will leave the country immediately! We will absolutely never appear before you again."

"Mm, very good."

Once Ms. Ross signed the contract, Archie Lockwood and Howard Rhodes left.

Outside the hotel, Howard felt he should offer a reminder. "Boss, should I have someone keep an eye on Ms. Ross?" After all, she didn’t seem very trustworthy.

’What if she takes the check and just runs off?’

Hearing Howard’s words, Archie Lockwood’s handsome brow furrowed slightly. "Yes, have someone watch her closely. Also, arrange a job for Eleanor Bishop after she arrives abroad." He didn’t actually doubt that Ms. Ross would break her promise. After all, a woman who loved money that much would never do anything to jeopardize the check in her hands.

What he suspected was that Eleanor Bishop would never see a cent of that money.
