Chapter 772: Chapter 760: I Want You to Marry Me (47)

At the sound of his voice, Eleanor Bishop’s face turned deathly pale. Anxiously, she cautiously turned her head to look.

There, Archie Lockwood was propped up on his side, his handsome face dark as he stared intently at her.

At the sight, her heart began to hammer uncontrollably. Her pretty face was pale with unease as she stammered, "Um, why are you awake so early?"

"Eleanor Bishop! You kept me up all night. I had to take five cold showers," Archie Lockwood said through gritted teeth, his voice low with fury. "So tell me, what are you going to do about it?"

"I kept you up all night?" ’How could I have kept him up all night? I thought I slept soundly.’

’I used to kick the blankets off, but with my leg injured, I don’t even do that anymore. How could I have possibly kept him from sleeping???’

Archie Lockwood shot Eleanor a resentful glare. "What do you think!"

"I don’t know." Seeing that Archie Lockwood didn’t appear to be lying, Eleanor grew confused and frustrated.

’Even in my condition, am I still kicking off the blankets in my sleep?’

Seeing Eleanor’s reaction only made Archie Lockwood angrier. "Eleanor Bishop, what are you going to do? Tell me how you’re going to please me and atone for your sins!" ’This damned woman. She kept me up all night, and now she’s playing innocent! Damn her!!!’

"I... I’m sorry... I told you I shouldn’t sleep in here with you, but you wouldn’t listen. Why don’t I just sleep with Rory tonight? That way, I won’t disturb you." ’I was asleep. How was I supposed to know I’d be so restless? Besides, it’s not my fault.’

’Sleep with Rory???’ Hearing this, Archie Lockwood grew even more furious. "Eleanor Bishop, is this your idea of an apology?"

"Then what do you want?" ’I’ve already apologized and even offered to go sleep with Rory. What more could he possibly want?’

Archie Lockwood glared at Eleanor with furious resentment, then rolled over and pinned her beneath him. "I want you to marry me. You will use the rest of your life’s... sexual... bliss... to atone for your sins!!!!"

’The rest of my life’s happiness???’

At his words, Eleanor stared at Archie in astonishment, her eyes filled with disbelief and anxiety.

"What? You refuse?" Archie Lockwood’s lips curled into a sneer as he asked coldly.

"Wh-why would you do this?" ’Even if I did keep him from sleeping, he didn’t have to be this cruel... to actually make me atone with the rest of my life’s happiness...’

Archie’s eyes darkened, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Eleanor, didn’t you always want to marry me? Well, I’m giving you that chance now."

Eleanor’s face was ashen. She shook her head with a bitter smile. "The past is the past. You said it yourself—that was before." ’Just because I wanted to marry you then doesn’t mean I still do now.’

’Back then, at least I was worthy of marrying him...’

’Now, I have no looks, no family status... All I have left is this half-crippled body. What right do I have to marry him?’

The self-deprecating smile on her lips made him deeply uncomfortable. He frowned and snapped, "So, you’re saying you don’t want to marry me now?"

"Yes, that’s right. I don’t want to marry you." ’Even if he’s asking, it’s only to punish me, to make me atone. I would never marry him for that.’

Archie Lockwood stared intently at her, a cold laugh escaping his lips. "Fine. Very good! The first time I, Archie Lockwood, have ever wanted to marry a woman, and I get rejected."

"I’m sorry..." Eleanor choked out, her eyes welling with tears.

Archie Lockwood pushed himself off her with a cold sneer. Glaring at her with furious resentment, he snarled, "Eleanor Bishop, you’d better remember what you said today. I’m Archie Lockwood—it’s not like you’re the only woman I can have!"
