Chapter 773: Chapter 761: Attracting Peach Blossoms (Part 1)

Archie Lockwood left her with those harsh words and stormed out of the room.

Eleanor Bishop pushed herself up into a sitting position and stared blankly at the door.

After leaving the room and reaching the top of the stairs, Archie Lockwood sensed something was amiss.

He thought he heard a woman laughing.

’If I’m not mistaken,’ he thought, ’that woman has to be the one who gives me the biggest headache: Shannon Vance!’

Shannon Vance, the cousin of the Vance Group’s executive CEO.

With her excellent family background, upstanding character, striking looks, and a Ph.D., she was undoubtedly the best candidate he could choose as a stepmother for Rory.

But ever since he’d run into Eleanor Bishop again, Shannon Vance had become nothing but a headache.

He used to be able to humor her with a few perfunctory words. Now, even that felt exhausting and irritating...

He turned to go back to the room, but after taking just one step, he recalled his argument with Eleanor Bishop. His expression darkened even further.

’I was right. I, Archie Lockwood, absolutely do not need that ungrateful liar, Eleanor Bishop!’

Still in his robe, he strode directly down the stairs.

Shannon Vance was in the middle of a discussion with Shirley Lockwood when she saw Archie Lockwood coming downstairs in his robe. The smile on her face instantly froze, her eyes fixed on his partially exposed chest...

Archie Lockwood naturally noticed Shannon Vance’s heated gaze. He looked over at her, his own eyes cold. His brow furrowed in slight displeasure as he asked in a cool, deep voice, "Miss Vance, what brings you here?"

"Oh, I came to invite you and Rory to my cousin’s birthday dinner tonight," Shannon Vance said, realizing she had been staring too openly. She quickly averted her gaze and offered a shy smile.

"Hm..." Archie Lockwood responded noncommittally.

Then, he turned to a nearby maid. "You. Find an outfit for Miss Bishop and take it up to her."

"Yes, sir," the maid replied, bowing her head respectfully.

Seeing the maid turn to leave, Archie Lockwood frowned and called out again in a cold voice, "She’s having trouble with her leg. Find the clothes and bring them to me. I’ll go up and help her get dressed."

"Yes, sir."

Shannon Vance, who had been listening from the side, couldn’t quite process what she was hearing. Her expression soured as she looked at Archie Lockwood uneasily. "Trouble with her leg? Who? That Miss Bishop?"

Archie Lockwood shot her a cold glance, clearly having no intention of answering her question.

Seeing that Archie Lockwood was ignoring her, Shannon Vance turned her attention to Shirley Lockwood. "Rory, tell Auntie, does your dad have a girlfriend now?"

"I don’t think so," Shirley Lockwood answered, touching her chin and tilting her head as if in deep thought.

’What does she mean, "I don’t think so"?’ Shannon thought. ’So he does have one? But he didn’t have one before, did he?’

’How could one just appear out of nowhere?’

’If my background check was correct, he’s been single for all these years!’

’Even the maids in his house are all in their fifties or sixties...’

"All I know is that my dad seems to care a lot about that pretty lady. Oh, right, last night, my dad slept with the pretty lady. So, Miss Shannon, would you say that makes her his girlfriend?" Although she didn’t like the idea of her dad marrying the pretty lady, this was a good chance to get Miss Shannon to give up on him.

’An opportunity this good is too good to waste!’

Hearing Shirley Lockwood’s words, the expression on Shannon Vance’s delicate face turned utterly foul.
